Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

Better to smile than to weep! grin

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 20:32:32

PECS, you made me laugh, thank you

Some really nasty bitter people on here - Meghan is a first time mother at 37 and must surely have wondered how easy it would be to get pregnant, or not. Why on earth does it matter how much she holds/cradles her bump to any of you? Its HER bump, she can do what she likes - bearing in mind the media take hundreds of photos and select a tiny number to actually publish, she probably isn't constantly touching her bump but they have chosen the pics that show that. As for her holding hands with Harry - words fail me! Me and the other half held hands all the time when we were first married, and still do now sometimes.

Getting a bit sick of all the unwarranted criticism the poor woman is getting - when there is nothing she has actually done wrong (ignore the spurious media rumours from "a source"). Diana was hounded to her death by the media, Fergie and Andrew split despite clearly still being in love. Clearly they are trying to do the same to Meghan (too American, too mixed-race and - shock, horror - an actress!) and Harry and sensible people should not buy into their bullshit. Just because she was an actress does not mean she is always acting - unless any of you know personally that this is definitely the case then maybe give the lip flapping a rest!

But he might be an absolute bastard and MM might be too or they may be two unhappy people we just do not know... maybe MM gets her acting skills from him!

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 20:11:41

True PECS , I felt so sorry for the man,

PECS Wed 19-Dec-18 20:08:44

Annie as I pointed out on the MM dad thread..we do not know the truth of the relationship. We do not know her father, her, her mum or her siblings..just what the media choose to let us know! So we should not really make any judgements on personal situations we do not have the full info. on. only those involved know the whole truth.

Then Iam64 the same can be said of those who critcise Mr Markle, or is he without ability to feel distress and pain because he is classed trailer trash

Fenton95 Wed 19-Dec-18 19:41:50

Who cares anyway but how on earth do you know how often she does it?
As Mawbroon said, the photographers may well wait for THAT moment - they know it sells copy!

I wish people would get off her and their back(s). They seem genuinely in love and both have personality and charm from all that we can tell ...

PECS Wed 19-Dec-18 19:34:59

No worse than the personal attack on MM though is it! If one posts strongly you have to be prepared to take the riposte.

If you can't say something kind..shut up! It's what I say to the DGCs!

Collins English dictionary - vitriol definition and meaning;

"if you describe what someone language or behaviour as vitriolic, you disapprove of it."

"If you refer to what someone says or writes as vitriol, you disapprove of it because it is full of bitterness and hate, and so causes a lot of distress and pain."

"violent hat and anger expressed through severe criticism "

So perhaps not an echo of the day, rather an expression shared by a number of posters.

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 19:07:34

Perhaps echo of the day

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 19:06:57

No difference, it’s a personal attack on posters

PECS Wed 19-Dec-18 19:04:16

or the voice of today

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 19:02:20

Vitriol seems to be the ‘word of the day’

PECS Wed 19-Dec-18 18:59:35

Why is it anybody's business to comment on any young woman pregnant with her first baby? What a lot of judgemental snippy and harpy like behaviour is going on!

I do not support the principle of a royal family but you know what I do not wish any of them personal harm.. nor care about them enough to read up or seek out pictures so I could be be so bloody critical!

The woman is not cutting any dodgy international deals ( Prince Andrew), making racist comments (Philip) so why keep your vitriol for a woman who holds her baby bump! There are better candidates for that if that is what you enjoy.

Maybe those being critical are coming from a snob perspective? After all she is only an American commoner and , good grief, an actress too..and 'of colour'... so fair game?

She could not possibly be a young woman in love, having her first child.

I have no idea what she is like as a person, I do not know her.

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 18:35:38

icsnhandthemback, as a junior royal who has all the privileges of the senior royals it is her duty to fit in with the senior royals surely ?

icanhandthemback Wed 19-Dec-18 18:24:27

If she is such a minor Royal, Anniebach, it's hardly worth the worry if she breaks with protocol.

Trisher123 Wed 19-Dec-18 17:51:30

Surely she's so very happy to be having a baby. I think it's lovely.

kwest Wed 19-Dec-18 17:33:42

Leave her alone.

Jaxie Wed 19-Dec-18 17:31:21

Meghan is constantly in the spotlight: wouldn't we all feel self conscious in the circumstances? She's a trained actress and has the skills to defend herself by assuming a persona which isn't necessarily her own. She'll have great difficulty achieving any privacy at all. I feel kind of sorry for her. Will she chew up Harry and spit his bones out on the road though - or am I nasty cynic?

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 17:21:44

Chucky Kate never chased the cameras, she and William are certaintly not lovers of cameras

anti Wed 19-Dec-18 17:18:40

Strangely enough I thought that too this morning when I saw yet another photo of Meghan holding her Bump....nice to begin with but after a while it becomes boring!!

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 17:18:27

ReadyMeals it was the public who demanded the return to London, do you not remember the many, many interviews with the public in London ? I think the Queen didn’t return until the Thursday anyway.

Bridgeit Wed 19-Dec-18 17:17:24

Ohh dear Ladies, what a storm in a teacup, have we nothing better to do than criticise........ do unto others as you would be done by, it seems one can be hounded for being too good or too bad, too false too sincere, too insincere , too hands on not hands on enough, wearing the wrong shoes, coat, dress, looking eyes up , down , sideways, what exactly IS it that you want this particular Human Being to do, perhaps some would prefer her to wear sack cloth and ashes & apologise for any offence her existence causes !?

Chucky Wed 19-Dec-18 17:10:46

I am not a royalist but I am really fed up of all the negativity towards Meghan. I quite like her and think she is the best thing to happen to the Royal Family, since Princess Di. Why shouldn’t she hold her bump, I think it is very protective and totally natural. Could all the negativity be because she was taking the limelight away from Kate, so of course she has to be criticised and put down as this just isn’t acceptable!! Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is that Harry and Meghan are worth far more than the rest of the Royal Family put together.
