Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

Cupped, not cupper.

ReadyMeals Thu 20-Dec-18 09:09:40

I think we're talking about two completely different types of "bump hugging" here. Some of us have seen her do the two-handed hug which is one right underneath and one right on top, cupper, which I call the celeb bump pose. Others of us have only seen the pics of her with one hand resting lightly on it, which is the more natural bump touch. The disagreement here is probably between those of us who saw the Pose and those who only saw the Touch

True, but she KNOWS she has the cameras of the world on her. She wants those images of her to go out.

I am not a fan of the royals. I'll despise them even more if egotistical members of it like Meghan start hamming it up for the cameras as if they are in a soap opera.

She's new to it all, and American (ie: more touchy, feely, emotional) but really, she must appreciate that she is not behaving in a dignified manner with the two-armed bump crading when she is the centre of attention. She is not a stupid woman.

I just wish she'd "Get with the programme." She has joined the British Royal family, not MGM or Paramount. There is a code.

Almost all first-time mums – and some later on – cuddle their "bumps". Most are not constantly photographed.

I tend to agree.

This is the biggest role of her life. Yes, expectant mothers are protective of their bump, and that's fine but she is a ROYAL pregnant duchess, and maybe she is not aware of the sort of dignified way in which the royal family are expected to behave.

Kate has been pregnant three times and never drew attention to her state. She didn't wear clingy clothes and she certainly didn't cradle her stomach at every opportunity. Most mothers to be don't when out in public. Glossy magazines may magnify the bump, delight in the bump and depict those carrying babies as special earth mothers, but really, this woman is old enough to appreciate this is not the Meghan show. She may be delighted to be pregnant but it is a personal thing.

At home with Harry, no worries, delight in the bump all the time, but this is not an acting gig. She doesn't need to publicise her state at every public opportunity. She strikes me as an attention-seeking diva I am afraid. I can imagine disapproval in royal circles. It's all a tad trashy, imo.

I'm in the minority too I guess. The woman appears to be playing on the world stage and looking for an Oscar at every wave. The bump on the Duchess's are as annoying as Beyonce and the Kardashians antics. I personally never doubted the Prince and his true emotions for her but hers for him seem a deep flaw from the start. She's getting older with no prospects after the final SUITS showing and not that great of an actress to begin with. She never was nominated for any award, tabloids never gave her much praise, nor were there crowds of any size seeking her out so for a good looking prince to step in from a monarchy so well known and traveled as the British, she'd been a fool to turn that gig down! She's got it made and she knows it.

I wish someone would tell her to stop!!

Who do you think has the right to do that, just out of interest?

Vickixx Wed 19-Dec-18 23:54:39

Megan & Harry are a delightful couple imo. I can’t wait to see their baby & long may she continue to place a protective hand on her beautiful bump ?

MissAdventure Wed 19-Dec-18 23:44:46

I don't think she is really pregnant,, when is this baby due, they say in Spring but Spring has a few months before it turns to Summer.. I think someone else is carrying a baby for her, she was seen going in and out of the IVF clinic...

A photographer takes many pictures and then chooses which ones to release for maximum effect/earnings. In this case, they would probably choose one that emphasises her pregnancy so unless you're watching video, this could well be out of context.

At the end of the day though, does it REALLY matter? You either watch the pictures/videos or not! Your choice!

I personally don't care! I've got more important things to concern me!

Saetana Wed 19-Dec-18 23:15:06

Anniebach - in the absence of actual evidence I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, don't you???

Legs55 Wed 19-Dec-18 23:14:11

I was never a "bump hugger" in public but sitting on the settee at night I would sometimes rest a hand/arm across my bump when I was in the later stages of pregnancy. I dislike the fashion for wearing tight fitting clothes which emphasise the baby bump (I also dislike bare pregnant tummieshmm). This is not a particular criticism of MM, I'm sure the press are taking great delight in capturing these photos.

Flowerofthewest Wed 19-Dec-18 23:08:23

It's a natural thing to do. It's a protective action. TBH I'd be protecting it from the Firm too.

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 22:32:54

Recently there has been so many celebs posing for photographs with one hand at the bottom of the bump and one hand on the of the bump, I certaintly loved placing my hand on my tummy to feel movement but the hand placed under the bump is for me too like the celeb photographs and I certaintly didn’t walk down the street or walk into shops or houses with a hand on the bump.
Perhaps if she wore looser clothes not clothes which cling under the bump.

Nanna58 Wed 19-Dec-18 22:20:12

I had many miscarriages , and probably held my bump, but still, she does seem to do so in a very posed and staged way.

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 21:36:29

ReadyMeals, you are so right. On the Sunday Earle Spencer stood at the gates of his house and said he knew the press would kill her. Then the news was coming in about the paps. The press kicked of the frenzied attack on the Queen and the public joined in.

ReadyMeals Wed 19-Dec-18 21:31:17

Anniebach yes I remember that, but the chronology I remember was that the newspaper said it first, and THEN the interviews with the public were conducted. My hunch is that if the public were asked before the newspaper put the idea out there "is there anything bothering you about this situation at the moment?" very few of them would have spontaneously come up with "yes why is the Queen not here?"

jannicans

What a horrible post. Guessing you have never suffered a mc. You should be ashamed of your post

Mycatisahacker Wed 19-Dec-18 20:54:28

Jealousy, a sniff of racism and a very very sad thread about a first time pregnant woman.

Ffs in the same day Corbyn clearly is a mysogynistic twat can we not support a woman. And I am no fan of Theresa or the royal family as an institution or a politician.

moggie57 Wed 19-Dec-18 20:47:33

so what if she holds her new life in her hands.she has a lot to contend with like the media and the royal family. must be awful trying to fit in with all the customs and traditions.although i dont look at her a lot, got better things to do than criticise..its early days yet ....

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 20:46:11

Saetana, unless you know personally she isn’t acting perhaps take your own advice

Jannicans Wed 19-Dec-18 20:40:54

Maybe she's worried it will fall out.
