Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

I don’t like the dresses which stretch under the bump

I had a particularly nice dark green paisley pattern dress, I loved it.
I have no objection to seeing baby bumps, after all, you could still see them in maternity clothes, but the stretched tight fit to burst tops and dresses worn now just look uncomfortable for the wearer.
Fashions come and go though, and maternity wear will no doubt go through all sorts of changes in the future.

Fair enoughski lemon, I look at photographs of the 70's with me wearing pink flowing frocks made by my mum and think I'd have looked/felt a whole lot better in one of those black skinny tops girls wear now. These days of course, I'd look shocking, much better in some kind of flowing frock or tunic

I too liked my maternity clothes, didn’t wear anything remotely like a tent

I liked my pinafores and maternity dresses Iam they hid a multitude of sins, not all to do with pregnancy.grin

MM is no different to other young pregnant women in wearing tight fitting clothes, rather than the awful tents most of us spent several months in. Did they disguise our pregnancy, course they didn't. My daughters and their friends all look fine in their tight fitting clothes - good for them.

Well said Caledonail4 and Sparklefizz - the mind boggles about what people seem to get offended about [:D]

The world is going to hell in a handcart.... meanwhile we have 9 pages on Meghan holding her baby bump! confused

The Photographers want that sort of photo. She was a celebrity for many years before becoming a Royal, responding to the media is second nature to her.

I had a colleague who cradled her bump from the first moment it showed. She also rubbed the top of the bump almost continuously which, for some unknown reason, annoyed people around her. Pregnant women are awash with hormones and subject to all sorts of conflicting wanted/unwanted advice and comments. They don't get congratulated enough for achieving and maintaining a pregnancy, for which many will find their minds and bodies acting and reacting in strange or unexpected ways. Let them have their moments of comfort, joy and hope for the future, however they want to express it.

EllanVanin BBC news and SKY news are not the press They film royal official visits.

EllanVannin Fri 21-Dec-18 13:46:44

If it wasn't for the press Annie, we wouldn't have such news.

I often cradle my bump; unfortunately its only a lump of fat on my stomach. I have a lot in common with Meg., we both like a lovely long coat in winter, but recoil from her persistent smiley glow, preferring the old grouch wintry smile of our own dear Queen.

Anniebach Fri 21-Dec-18 12:05:34

Unfair to blame the press, the tv news covers the official visits which is them shown on the news, no media storm , some looking at her with both arms around the bump think it quite normal , some think it over the top, no different to views on clothes worn on official visits .

EllanVannin Fri 21-Dec-18 11:21:54

It's the gutter press as usual picking out something that they think or know will start a media storm. Predictably, it has !
Pathetic.

Allykat1946- I was entertained by your post, maybe inspired by the following??!! thehistoryofparliament.wordpress.com/2013/07/26/the-warming-pan-baby-james-edward-francis-stuart/

I have no time whatsoever for the royal family and think monarchy is an outdated concept. But I do feel sorry for Meghan Markle, given the bashing that she is receiving. I suspect that there is a degree of snobbery and xenophobia (or perhaps even racism) behind some of it. The knives were out even before the marriage.

I listed pregnant women holding their bumps on the pet hates thread. I find it irritating. However, many women do it and I don't know why she is getting so much criticism for it.

Good call Elrel!!!

Elrel Thu 20-Dec-18 13:48:14

OP Why are you getting so involved? Are you her stepsister?

Jaycee5 Thu 20-Dec-18 12:47:48

PECS Well said. There seems to be a competition to see who can be nastiest about a woman who is clearly doing her best. I am not a royalist either but there is no need for personal abuse which some comments clearly are.

Jaycee5 Thu 20-Dec-18 12:45:47

icanhandthemback Her comments are a bit strong - but look at what she is replying to. A truly appalling comment. Mycatisahacker is not wrong.

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 09:59:48

ReadyMeals, yes that could explain it, quite natural to put a hand on the bump, the wrapping the bump in both arms is a celeb pose.

Febmummaofaboy Thu 20-Dec-18 09:46:36

Had my baby a year ago and still hold my stomach! It's not on purpose it's just something people do. Especially with all the media she probably feels very protective, imagine all the cameras pushing in on her!

icanhandthemback Thu 20-Dec-18 09:28:41

Mycatisahacker, you seem particularly stroppy in your posts. Are you ok?

Anniebach Thu 20-Dec-18 09:12:51

I am surprised how many here walked down the street, visited people’s houses etc with their arms wrapped around their baby bump. Thought this pose started with celebrities getting into the press
