Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

Slightly off topic but there is a lovely pic of her in the press today talking to Richard O'Sullivan (remember him? I loved him in Man About the House etc). She was visiting Brinsworth House, a residential home for ex performers.

Lots of women hug their bump. Let her be.

I think it's all because she's now a member of the Royal family that people feel the need to point this out. Nothing would be said if it was the ordinary woman on the street.

This is also new for Meghan not having been pregnant let alone amongst the highest profile family in the world.
The baby will naturally be moving from time to time as well so could be her way of reassurance towards the growing child who she'll obviously welcome with untold wonder.

Funnily enough, I have also noticed her cradling her bump in almost every photo I see of her.

I don’t know why, but I feel irritated with her.
It’s almost too much bump attention.

She is doing no one any harm and it obviously comforts her. The press is in full Meghan attack mode. Sad that so many people are happy to join in. She is obviously doing her best.
No one can like everyone and no one should be put under the pressure of trying to please everyone.
I agree with Dorset. What pleasure do people get from being bitchy and judgmental and trying to bring someone down? It is one thing if it is someone like Andrew who does some very questionable things and keeps very unpleasant company but Meghan is harming no one.

I was in a,waiting room yesterday and looking at magazines which I never normally see. What a load of bollocks in them! Glitzy events with celebs..mostly famous for being photographed at glitzy events, But there were some royal articles too. Waffle waffle of the journalists opinions! No direct quotes. It seems celebs and royals are big business for fashion/ cosmetics etc. so journos hack out all sorts of nonsense to keep them high profile..in the minds of those that care or buy the mags/ papers they feature in.

Think I may have done that much of the time too. Can't remember (of course!). However, I wasn't constantly hounded by camera people waiting for my every move and particularly those looking for something detrimental. I hope Meghan continues to enjoy her waiting time and that all goes smoothly for all of them. Happy days indeed.

Is anyone else coping with estrangement and terms/conditions at holiday times. Christmas can be so difficult to get through with seeing/hearing everything geared to happy family gatherings. How do people cope with having AC and GC but not allowed to see purely out of meanness. I know my GC would love to spend time with her Granny but she isn't allowed. Just all so sad. Any coping mechanisms ?

I just wish she’d wear tights or stockings. The bare legged look doesn’t work in our winters!

Ruthiek

She’s an actress by profession ?

silverlining48 Wed 19-Dec-18 09:40:08

I never see photos of her either, am not that interested, but do feel for her or anyone whose every move, every outfit, every comment etc is judged. Negatively. As mawbroon says, it could be they wait for that moment to take their photos. Newly married, newly pregnant, royal family protocols to get used to, must be a bit if a nightmare at times.

notgoneyet Wed 19-Dec-18 09:40:01

I agree with Ruthick and Ninathenana. First thing I noticed, too. And no, it's not done in the same natural way that most pregnant ladies hold or rub their bump. It seems to me, too, to be very affected.

gillyjp Wed 19-Dec-18 09:38:54

Sorry to say I find the holding of the baby bump a tad irritating too. For goodness sake she should be adjusting to her new royal status by being less showy and cringeworthy. What next? A celebrity slot on One Born Every Minute? I bet the queen is squirming with annoyance. We didn't see Duchess of Cambridge playing to the cameras like this but she does have so much more style and grace.

It was too much press attention that ultimately led to the death of Prince Harry's mother........

ariana6 Wed 19-Dec-18 09:37:51

Some of you need to get out more....

jaylucy Wed 19-Dec-18 09:37:41

Can't see a problem. I haven't seen many tbh apart from the ones from when she was in Australia, but then I don't buy newspapers or magazines like OK and Hello !
Poor woman is under such scrutiny , she can barely scratch herself without a photo being taken! I'd guess that many of the photos published are from file - the photographers think that as she is newsworthy the shutters are on overtime!

Well said M0nica, it grates on me the constant critisism of Megan just as it did at Camilla. So cruel that people feel they should air their remarks and we wonder why Charles, Harry and William get irritated with the press and public at times. I say leave them alone, if you don't like them or get irritated by them focus on the good things you enjoy.

Grampie Wed 19-Dec-18 09:35:57

One way to stop this agony is not to buy the Daily whatever.

Potteron Wed 19-Dec-18 09:35:48

Never see photos of her, suggest you change your reading materialtchsmile

maryhoffman37 Wed 19-Dec-18 09:31:47

I never see photos of Meghan and am amazed that anyone else does so often as to develop a negative view. But then Gransnetters on another thread seemed to be privy to all sorts of thoughts of the Royal Family.

Theoddbird Wed 19-Dec-18 09:31:34

I see pregnant women touching their bump all the time. I remember doing it myself. My girls did as well. It is normal....the same as hugging your baby...connecting with it. It is lovely x

MawBroon Wed 19-Dec-18 08:56:44

A photograph is a moment in time.
Who is to say (and does it matter) that Meghan is always seen holding on to her bump?
I would put money on the cameramen waiting for “that” moment.
Anyway DD is at a similar stage of her first pregnancy - I must see whether she does too. And if so, I would not blame her, that feeling of closeness to your unborn baby is magical.

Iam64 Wed 19-Dec-18 08:50:03

Well said MOnica. If people don't like MM, don't look at photographs, read articles or focus so much on the young woman. Find something else to focus on.

Blinko Wed 19-Dec-18 08:29:24

Where are all these photos of MM holding the bump? I haven't seen any so far.... No, don't tell me.

gmelon Wed 19-Dec-18 07:48:28

I've noticed it too. I find her very affected.
In photos, the tilt of the head, posing constantly. Maybe she will become more natural soon.
Then again Diana did the same head tilt and I quite liked her.
