Mr P!

I phoned him recently to say that he would need to drive to were I work, because I couldn't get all of the Amazon delivery parcels in my car.

He asked "why?"

Errm, because the parcels were quite large, and my car (a Smart Roadster) is very small. tchconfused

Then, 2 days later in Lidl, when we had a 6 pack bottle of water in the shopping, I said "I may have to open one of those in a minute"

Again he asked "Why?"

I could have replied that I had forgotten to have a shower before coming out, and was worried that my personal hygiene might not be up to standard, or that my skin was suddenly feeling so dry that only an instant topical application of water would save me from becoming a wrinkled old crone that very moment, but it was actually because I was thirsty!

And breathe...................

Damn, should have been "read" as the last word of the first para.

Still, I'm sure you get the gist.

phoenix Fri 21-Dec-18 18:54:25

So glad you found my post offensive, Grandad1943 at least I know it was understood.

Now, did you understand it, and how did it go down when you shared it with your "friends" in the office?

MawBroon Fri 21-Dec-18 18:46:00

oh and the offensive post from Phoenix can remain etc
Too generous Grandad
As I recall it is GNHQ who decide whether to delete or not, and not you, but of course I could be wrong.
Clearly no overwhelming wave of deletion requests from other quarters however.

Grandad1943 Fri 21-Dec-18 18:28:40

Don't worry I am still around but working with others until around 8pm

Oh, and the offensive post from Phoenix can remain, so no need to cut and paste. tchsmile

Dangerous stuff, spam!
The thought of a warehouse loaded with spam ready to be inflicted on an unsuspecting population doesn't bear thinking about.

Anniebach Fri 21-Dec-18 18:00:21

Perhaps this thread caused even more laughter in the office

phoenix Fri 21-Dec-18 17:56:24

tchgrin

To resort to street language "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!"

(Sorry, rather uncouth!)

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Dec-18 17:49:56

I thought they spent office hours looking at Gransnet tchconfused
along with preparing huge warehouses ready for the invasion of spam.

annodomini Fri 21-Dec-18 17:27:35

phoenix, you forget that office hours may be only just over.

phoenix Fri 21-Dec-18 17:04:18

Down filled of course, or with thick polyester filling, for the vegans (although that won't sit well with the antiplastic supporters) Jalima.

We wouldn't want to risk getting a chill.

Actually, change that, of course it's only the Royal Family that get chills! tchwink

BTW, I notice that there has been no response from a certain quarter? (#innocentface)

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Dec-18 16:50:12

We'll all be banned.
We could then go on a march in our gilets jaune tchgrin

phoenix Fri 21-Dec-18 14:51:40

grumppa ! How militant would that be! tchgrin

grumppa Fri 21-Dec-18 13:29:52

Gilet jaune!!!!!! Expletive deleted predictive text!

grumppa Fri 21-Dec-18 10:31:13

If we all copied Phoenix's post and pasted it on our iPads/phones/laptops for safekeeping, we could all put it back if it was deleted, along with a gilet jaunt logo.

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Dec-18 10:04:27

annodomini that sums it up well.

I believe, in fact, that Les Dawson and his MIL got on very well indeed - they probably had a little giggle together about his jokes.

Grandad seems to be unaware that so many of his posts on many threads are misogynistic.

annodomini Fri 21-Dec-18 09:42:49

Having finally read through the thread, I see grandad1943 as an old codger who can't understand the affectionate tone of posts he misinterprets as misandry. The prefix 'mis' comes from a Greek word meaning 'hate'. Phoenix's OP was not hostile to men in general or her DH in particular. For centuries women have been the butt of jokes from not-very-funny comedians. Mothers-in-law in particular were the target of Les Dawson's gags. Was this misogyny? I don't think he hated women, but MiLs were an easy target and didn't usually bite back.

MawBroon Fri 21-Dec-18 09:42:13

Terribull ??????tchgrin

Jessity Fri 21-Dec-18 08:58:01

Brilliant post Phoenix, thank you. Loved two more balls for your tree grin. He’s such a pain in the a*se!

TerriBull Fri 21-Dec-18 08:44:25

Indeed Phoenix a knobhead slightly irksome sort of fellow and amazingly transparent with it! Self satisfied doesn't even begin to describe such an ego, seemingly the size of a planet. I can't help thinking instead of crashing your thread, why didn't start his own. Something along the lines of "A Day in the life of an almost retired pensioner, called back to the front line, whilst simultaneously trying to police the shameful misandry and subversion on the exclusionary site known as GN" A bit of a mouthful, but I imagine being such a multi talented MAN he could precis that better than me. Anyway what a fascinating read it would be!

Anniebach Fri 21-Dec-18 08:14:48

Applause Phoenix and thank you x

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Dec-18 08:03:49

Here Here ?????

Iam64 Fri 21-Dec-18 07:50:55

Phoenix -well said.
I was shocked by the reference Grandad made to his colleague's health. He justified it later by saying none of us know the name of his firm so can't identify the woman. That isn't the point is it and it's typical of someone so totally self absorbed that they don't know that.

FarNorth Fri 21-Dec-18 00:29:29

Chewbacca I've certainly encountered people like that.

Cherrytree59 Thu 20-Dec-18 23:50:39

?tchgrin

phoenix Thu 20-Dec-18 23:48:24

Well, my post is still there, but for now much longer is anyone's guess!

I just hope it lasts long enough for "him" to see it!

(He really is a self satisfied knobhead prig)
