Expressions that irritate you

When I've been asked to confirm my name/post code over the phone and I'm answered with "yes, fantastic!" as if congratulating me that I knew!

Also "we are doing this as a good will gesture" when the company is only doing what they should have done in the first place

"Welcome Aboard" drives me skatty

"Happy Xmas"

I agree JenniferE every 3rd word being like really irritates me like.

My 35 year old nephew does it and it grates with me.

I was in a cafe the other day and the coffee was late because the machine " had issues". I feel sorry for it, was it worried about too many lattes,sad about the demise of plain filter coffee or possibly stressed by the Christmas rush?

How about the 'like' habit of the young, as in 'I was like upset' , and 'he was like what do you mean?'

It's quite amusing to sit in a café near a group of youngsters and listen to just how many times they say it in a sentence.

I have no idea where this habit came from (probably the US at a guess) but it is completely widespread.

I am quite certain they have no idea how often they use the word !

Hate 'Hi guys' I am not a guy in any sense of the word

It should be 'May I help you?' really.

Shop assistants asking ' you alright there'. We answer 'yes fine thank you' - they dont know how to respond to that. Whatever happened to 'Can I help you?'

I'm not sure about its validity, but I often hear of people being 'weary' of something, when I would have been wary.
