My sister frequently says it after an event has finished. No doubt she will say it after Christmas. I could scream!!!!

'Like' sprinkled like icing sugar seems to annoy a lot of people, but it isn't recent or American, as suggested. When I was young (back in the day!) it was common in the North West of England. I'm going back 70 years or thereabouts. Didn't Victoria Wood have some of her characters use it?

My recent screaming annoyance is 'the optics' — as in, he decided not to do it that way, the optics would have sent the wrong message. Do they all live in pubs?

So .... at the beginning of a sentence. Any sentence. Every sentence.

My pet hate is “ can I have a lend of?” Instead of “ may I borrow?”

Should OF instead of should HAVE drives me nuts! I read it all the time, sometimes by supposedly intelligent people!

My DIL does that notnecessarily! She's still saying "bye, bye, bye" when I've given up the ghost and hung up!

'like' as every other word
'sweet' - 'would you like a cup of tea' - 'sweet' ?

"Bye. Bye... Bye, Bye. Bye." at the end of a phone conversation - when did people decide that one "Bye" wasn't enough?

Some of these sayings are annoying but my question is Vickixx - why do you need to text someone to tell them you nearly missed your flight. No wonder she says what a shame I'm not sure what other response you would want.

What do you want them to say in response?

People starting every sentence with 'so'

asking someone if they need another cup of coffee or if there're warm enough - answer: 'I'm good' well that's a matter of opinion...…...and answering everything beginning with SO...……..what is the so for? and then there's 'absolutely' what's wrong with 'yes' and 'I'll take that off you' Off? 'from' for goodness sake! and of course 'see you later' - when will a delivery man see me later - is he calling back? finished now...…...
