Something a bit wooo just happened

I have these sort of things happen every once in a while. I've had my computer come on blaring in the middle of the night and one time my tv! I've also had a clock which was held to the wall with a screw mount, crash to the floor. I've also come downstairs and found doors wide open. I know there must be logical explanations, but it makes you wonder!

Weird things do happen...I'll always remember my father made a (REALLY heavy) Meccano crane...you'd have struggled to lift it, and it was standing flat on a solid workbench upstairs. We heard a crash and found it on floor. No way could a breeze/ the cat have done it. Workbench hadnt been damaged.No one else in house....creepy!

Around 1950, the vicar of our parish Church in Central London got a black eye. He told us (and he was not joking) that he had been to a house to exorcize it and got hit in the eye with a bar of soap.
Although it's totally irrelevant, he later became Bishop of Worcester. I just say this to say that he had all his marbles!

No batteries Theolddear. It's plugged into the wall. Nope! Definitely something weird going on.

Something similar happened to me years back when I was a young girl - some pictures in frames that were on the wall above my bed, being found next morning at the side of my bed in a pile and me with no recollection of how they got there. I guess sometimes there are no earthly explanations for things like this. See if anything else happens.

Things that go bump in the night. Old places creak.

I lay in bed once and felt the house shake when a huge lorry went past. I think it was noticeable because it was quiet and late. Maybe something like that

Chewbacca - don't let this worry you - there's no obvious explanation for everything in this world it only takes a ripple on a pond for a chain of events which may never be either known or seen - the tail end of an earthquake miles away has got to fizzle out somewhere hardly noticed by anyone. Thank goodness we don't know the answer to everything otherwise life would be really dull! sorry about your hare though.

Draught. When my boys were small they always slammed doors and if there were cards on the window cill the draught of the door closing would blow them off even though they were about 12 feet away. So if you left the room and closed the door behind you the hare may have blown off the mantlepiece and the clock hands that were already a bit loose were loosened further by the sudden draught.

Either that or you've got a poltergeist! Call Derek Acorah. Although personally, I'd rather have a poltergeist in my house

I don't believe it was Brexit though!!! Too far fetched!

The little DAB radio I keep in my bathroom is constantly turning the volume right down, so that it’s on but silent. I’m sure it’s just because the batteries are running low.

I can blame most things on Brexit.

I think there is a lot going on at the moment. I always leave my bedside radio (with earphones) on just the right volume for listening in the night. About two thirty this morning when I went to listen it was turned right down low. I had been out most of the day and DH never would touch it. As someone said further up thread, "More things in Heaven and earth......"

I wonder if the turmoil of Brexit is influencing the unseen world around us.

I think the ugly hare got jealous and a fight ensued, he jumped up onto the clock hands pulling them down to half six position and from there launched himself on top of the attractive hare, knocking him off the shelf onto the floor.

Watch out for what he gets up tonight, he now has a taste for killing. Hide your precious ornaments inside a locking china cabinet - that'll put a stop to his antics!

There are rational explanations for all the aforementioned 'goings-on'.
Things certainly do not disappear out of closed suitcases unless they are manually removed.
As for the hare and the clock. The likelihood of the hands working loose is the most feasible explanation and a small tremor could have nudged the hare off the mantlepiece. Not rocket science. You can check, via Google, whether tremors have been reported in your area.

Ok I have thought up an explanation that can cover both. Mouse or large spider - some spiders are so heavy you can actually hear them walking. So, if this spider or mouse managed to get onto the clock face their weight could have pulled the clock hands down (note they were both pointing down to the 6, significant of weight/gravity) rather than some other time when someone might have died for example. This same mouse or large spider could knock the ornament off.

Oooooh, went all cold and shivery when reading your original post, Chewbacca! Does the time at which the clock stopped have any significance? Wish I didn’t feel so cold! Woooooo......

Could the vibration of the clocks fingers dropping to 6.30 have caused the poor hare to have a shock and fall off ??

Did you put all the lights on when you woke in the night. If not and if you were a bit dozy half awake, perhaps you brushed past the hare so it moved slightly, then the hands dropping due to the loosened nut caused a bit of vibration so nudging the hare off the shelf?
