Something a bit wooo just happened

Marmight I have had the same problem with an annoying touchlight, they are complicated little so and so’s and can just go wrong easily.Buy a new one.

How can we be sure it isn't a sign Marmight?
I'm not saying it is, but.......
We think that we are so clever and can say with certainty that it can't be anything other wordly.
We can't be certain though, because we just don't know everything.

I have a touch lamp on a chest in a corner of my bedroom. Last saturday in the middle of the night it turned itself on, twice, and woke me up. Since then, it's come on 3 or 4 times so I have now unplugged it. Saturday would have been my 45th wedding anniversary and although I'm a level headed down to earth character, I keep wondering if its a 'sign' from DH. Ok, I know it isn't because I don't believe in all that mumbo jumbo, but it could be, couldn't it ......? There has to be a logical reason and that's not it.... is it?

Ha @ Chewbacca ! Welcome to my mysterious world - Objects move about or go missing and light bulbs pop a lot in my house I just think things happen at times beyond our control and just put them on ignore- just one of them isn't it-

There's a lot of mileage here - a film about grannies and their woo moments (starring all those elderly actresses you can't quite name). Plus George Clooney of course. These occurrences are probably some kind of subversive plot, or else another dementia test (but more subtle than "who's the prime minister?" and "what year is it?")

I had a porcelain figurine called The Brothers, (I have 2 sons) on the mantle piece. On returning from holiday one time I noticed it had split into 2 complete halves from top to bottom, still standing upright. No-one had been in the house while we were away. I even phoned the manufacturer to ask if they could explain what had happened but they had no explanation. Oh, and my son's hadn't fallen out either!

Saggi I sympathise. Whenever my husband drops/breaks/knocks things off surfaces he blames the inanimate object thereby making said object sentient as in “I didn’t do anything. It just fell off” ?

A bit like the Nutcracker

Well I did find missing piece of jigsaw on my easy chair one morning, and as the table where I do the jigsaw is the other side of the room and as far as I know it wasn't there when I went to bed, it felt bit like a woo moment.

I was pleased to read that someone else gets up during the night for a cup of tea and toast and occupation when they cant sleep. Thought it was only me. I do colouring which when viewed in the morning isn't anything special but keeps me from just laying in bed staring into the darkness and listening to LBC!!

Reminds me of a post I started a few months ago when my alarm clock suddenly lost an hour and I got up late.
Clever people on here said the battery needs changing .

There is always a logical explanation for things moving or going bump in the night.
I sometimes hear my doorbell, there is nobody there, the bell is wifi and operates via a unit plugged into a socket. If there is a power interruption or rain gets into the bell it causes It to ring.
Loud bumps, during the night, are usually things falling over in a cupboard like a brush or heavy book. A frequent incident in our house is those adhesive LED lights, stuck to shelf or wall, they dry out and drop down causing domino effect with other items.

Doesn’t everybody know that all toy and ornamental creatures come alive after midnight but cannot allow any grown up to see them? The cuckoo was therefore flying around and the hare jumping about on the floor when you unexpectedly went downstairs in the early hours. The cuckoo knocked the clock hands on his way back into the clock and the hare left it too late to jump onto the mantlepiece, turning into stone mid jump thus falling to the floor and smashing. Simples.

Chewbacca is there any way a small bird could have got into the room?

I have a glass fronted cabinet and on one of the shelves I have a little row of my childhood Noddy and friends ornaments.
Big Ears keeps moving. Doesn't matter where in the row I put him but he, and only he, moves. Even moved the whole row to a different shelf. Big Ears still moves. Rotates around and if left will move away from the line.

Logic tells me that it's vibrations from the floorboards as we walk round the room. But why only Big Ears?!!!

One of the weirdest things was in 1966 in the lead up to Christmas when the cards start arriving. On the mantlepiece they went and there was a sparkly one in the middle with a three candle candelabra where it looked as though the candles were lit, on Christmas Eve I remember saying to my H " that's strange, only two candles are lit " .

On Christmas Day, my pa-in-law, who was in hospital, died . That 3rd sparkly on the card stopped sparkling altogether. It was the strangest thing I'd ever noticed.

Not keen on the sparkly candle cards now. I don't like " messages " like that.

Just to add to the creepy stories ... One that didn't happen in MY house (too many of those to go into) was when I was staying overnight at a friend's house - downstairs on the sofa bed. In the early hours, I woke up to hear a noise in the kitchen. Thinking that one of the kids had got up to make himself a snack (and hoping for the same) I went to the kitchen. The light was off, but her son's football was gently rolling from one side of the room to the other, again and again, then it would stop, then it would start again ... I ran upstairs and knocked at my friend's bedroom door, apologised, and explained what had happened. "Oh that's just Eric" she explained, and settled me down on a campbed in her daughter's room. In the morning, she explained that Eric had been the caretaker at a sports club at the back of the houses (which had been built over the field where he used to play football). She said that he often visited a couple of the houses where the children had footballs. BTW she was a chemist, science to the core, not religious, but she was prepared to just accept it and not worry about Eric's nocturnal visits !
