Fortunately antibiotics are now available EV - 2 weeks of penicillin for him.
No more horror stories please, I am worrying enough.
He never gives up being stupid.

Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.
Welcome and thank you all for your wonderful company.
Fortunately antibiotics are now available EV - 2 weeks of penicillin for him.
No more horror stories please, I am worrying enough.
Scarlet fever is so nasty poor child. I had that in 1945 and was taken to an isolation hospital. My bedroom and home had to be fumigated because of having a younger brother. It seemed worse back then as no visitors were allowed at the hospital except via looking through windows . I vividly remember fretting. How things have changed.
I wish the little child well and a speedy recovery x
Happy Anniversary N&G. Another November bride here. It was our Golden last week. To be honest a year or so ago I didn’t think we’d see it. Have a really lovely special day!
Happy Anniversary NanaandGrampy
Happy Anniversary N&G ???
Morning all !!
Welcome back Ariadne!!
Sorry to hear Flynn is poorly Maw hope he feels better quickly .
Sorry to hear about all the insurance kerfuffle Synonymous . Our SiL was in an accident , no fault of his , and his car was written off which caused huge trauma as it wasn't worth much money but had been a good reliable car . I think insurance should cover you for like for like not book price. Anything to do with cars is always 3 times as expensive as you might think.
I cant stay this morning as we have Slimming group to attend. Grampy's indigestion has settled down a bit with his new medication so fingers crossed that is resolved.
I am leaving cake for you all because it is our 42nd wedding anniversary today :-) We are celebrating by blowing the diet out of the water and going somewhere swish for a very nice afternoon tea.... I am sure there will be pictures.
Happy days all !!
GreyD, he`s fine, just bored rigid staying in bed, isn`t a book reader, and he`s fed up with TV.
Good to see you back, Ariadne.?? I’m another who has wondered where you’ve been!
Maw I hope young Flynn recovers soon. Scarlet fever is distressing. My DS had it when almost four and he was so ill - delerious for a time. Where on earth do these things come from?
Callgirl I hope your son is comfortable, is not chafing too much at his immobility and makes a good recovery. I missed that part of your post, for which apologies.
Synonymous my commiserations for what sounds like a whole heap of what Soop would call ‘buggerations’!?
Hoping for a quieter night than last night. I have kept Himself on a light diet today so we shall be if his nocturnal bout of sickness was a flash in the pan. Good night all.
Hello ariadne, pleased to see you.
Commiserations to Flynn maw, hope he’s much more comfortable soon. Sounds as if you’ve a busy week ahead.
I’ve never understood the workings of the insurance world synonymous, I can only wish for a common sense approach to your claim. If it doesn’t seem so then could be worth a challenge if you can summon the energy.
Mr C has slept all day other than the times he has been eating or drinking. That’s the way to do it for sure
.
Good night all, sleep tight.
Ariadne, what's this 'tentatively'? Don't hover on the doorstep! Come in and get comfortable with the rest of us. We have some nice big chairs.
I'm so sorry WolWol, I meant to say welcome to our lovely kitchen, I was too late for the blueberry muffins, don`t suppose you have any spares?
Welcome back Ariadne, long time no see, how are you and yours?
Oh dear Synonymous, my deepest commiserations. I remember the time we were driving in town, there was a car parked at the kerb with the driver`s door wide open and the man was leaning into the car. Expecting hubby to drive around it I said nothing, but he drove straight into the open door. When I ranted, sorry, remarked on the fact, he said he didn`t see it, I said "I did", he said "Why didn`t you tell me it was there then?" GRRRR!!!
Panache, sorry to hear that the potential buyer turned into a useless piece of you know what. I can`t believe that you haven`t been offered any help as yet. You would have if all the GNers could get to you.
GreyD, I love the pretty robin. We don`t get many birds around here, certainly not robins.
MawB, sorry to hear about little Flynn, I hope he`s better soon. I`m told I had scarlet fever when I was 6 months old.
I hope that all went well for Soop today, I wonder if she scouted out a chippy?
Dragonfly46, I too have a 3 year old DGD who asks to facetime me. She walks around with the phone showing me what she has been doing. I love speaking to her and on Wednesday I will be staying with her and her 2 older sisters for a week, can't wait.
Hospital appointment today was a waste of time really as it appeared to me that the consultant had not even taken the time to read his own notes from the last visit. Fortunately the insurance company seems to be more on the ball and appears to have it in hand.
Things are never as simple as you think or hope and apparently the car roof was dented and the radio, wifi and internet connections broken. When I had a wobble when the garage door hit the car it seems I hit the wheel arch and scratched that too. If they think it is a separate claim I will have to pay two lots of excess so I am really hoping they decide to consider it to be only one. The car has been collected and gone off to the repair shop so I should hear the results of their deliberations tomorrow. I suppose it must be quite hard for them to decide and they will have to work on the balance of probabilities. I should get a courtesy car tomorrow, hopefully.
The reason Himself is rocking about another bill is that he has been totting up the money we have spent aready in expenses claimable due to the crash and it is very nearly £10K already in those things which are directly attributable. That is without even trying those things which you think ought to be claimable but you just don't know. Quite shocking how expensive the fallout has been and whilst I know that this new problem is nothing to do with the crash it is yet another wretched bill to be paid. Fortunate that Himself has a decent pension but we are buying in a great deal of help now so we are certainly spending it!
Thank you kitty for putting me in for consideration for a medal. Never had one of those!
Would be politic not to breathe a word to Himself as he is super sensitive atm.
So much going on that I cannot even think of keeping up so will just wish everyone a really restful sleep filled night - and including myself in that!
Hi Ariadne, lovely to see you. How have you been?
Welcome back Ariadne - been a while! How are you? Hope life in North Devon is still sweet.
No news from soop but she did say it may be tomorrow. Fingers crossed all went well with the trip.
It's good to see so many new names visiting the kitchen and clearly enjoying the caring and supportive ambience. It was ever thus. There is always a warm welcome and nothing but kindness here.
Please do try my lemon drizzle cake which is freshly made and on the table!
Hi Ariadne don’t be tentative. I was too having hovered around Gransnet for sometime. I had been ignored, criticised and made to feel my issues were not important but here you will find lots of kind sympathetic faces. Come and join me on the comfy sofa.
Umm - hello! Tentatively ?
Kitty I am pleased your day went well. It is always lovely having the family around. My DG aged 3 apparently asked for the first time to Facetime Granny yesterday and when she did she didn't want to get off the phone. It was the first time she talked naturally to me and it was a joy!
Sorry panache I do remember about someone being let down by M&Stone just forgot it was you. You seem to have been let down by all concerned ( I hope you got your deposit back). I wish we could wave a magic wand and get you both moved somewhere safe.
Thank you for your kind thoughts corner and for all the lovely treats. Hope the man with flu gets well soon ?
Oh maw poor Flynn hope he feels better soon.
kitty glad the family all had a good time even if you had to give away your advent calendar ?
Kitty you message is much appreciated x
Thought I'd just pop in with an update on our family gathering yesterday only to find lots of poorly people and people with huge worries. (((Hugs))) for everyone who needs them.
Ann, as someone said upthread, go with your heart re the kitten, which is my case would be yes please. I hope the hosptial visit went ok today. I wee'd Ribena once and spent a day at the hospital having tests - scary, unpleasant but ultimately relief when there was nothing wrong, just a bad UTI. Let us know how you got on.
And, you soop, are you back yet? How was your journey and your visit.
Panache, it seems to be your turn to have use of the leg of lamb which mught be in N&G's frezer currently. Your post made me smile because I wasn't aware that Marks and Spencer had gone in the property market. Then I realised that you meant MacCarthy and Stone. My aunt is in one of their developments and is very happy!
A useful tactic that we could all employ to rid ourselves of visitors Corner - a sneezing fit.
I hope the visits went well. Please take it easy now.
I'm putting you forward for a medal synonymous - a small whimper is very restrained in the circumstances. I hope the car can be easily sorted.
Maw, you have a lot going on one way and another. Please don't wear yourself out. But enjoy the DGC. I quite like poorly DGC as they are usually warm and just want to watch TV. Dreadful grandmother, I know!!
Welcome wolwol - we like people who bring cake!!
Dragonfly please stay away from Dr Google! And try to think of all the people you know who have been successfully treated. Difficult I know and, really, it's the not knowing that gets to you, isn't it? Have a lovely time at CenterParcs - we haven't been for years but always enjoyed it when we did.
We had a lovely day yesterday. The massed Lesters all behaved, ate all the food and drank all the Prosecco and went home. We cleared up today!! It was lovely to see DS2's two step sons - both over 6' - colouring with the littlies and not talking down to the middle sized ones.
I always buy proper Advent Calendars for the DGC and was giving them to them as they left when the almost 16 year old asked if the one left was for him. Of course I said yes when it was actually mine!! Bless him.
I hope I haven't missed anyone out. I'm sorry if is have but love to all.
Panache I don’t know if it’s of interest to you, but M&S are building a new retirement + place in Gloucester.
It’s next to Gloucester Quays. My darling daughter is trying to get me to put my name down for one, but I can’t face downsizing and moving atm
Maw so sorry to hear about Flynn. It is true these things always come at once. At least he should be better for Christmas.
Be prepared for his hands peeling when he is better. It seems to be an after effect of Scarlet Fever.
Can you add a little DGS with Scarlet Fever to yourlist of those we are wishing well please?
DD thought Flynn had “Hand, Foot and Mouth” but when she saw how the rash had spread and how miserable he was she got him straight to the Drs
I will be going down on Wednesday or possibly even tomorrow night ready for an early start and then on Thursday back up to Brum for ballet/football etc duty.
Raining and pouring spring to mind.
