No Marydoll from my experience, we never, ever get short with our friends in the kitchen, like true friends we can say outright “What’s the matter?” and grudges are never held.
Reading between the lines my feeling was that there was a lot of extraneous sh*t flying around elsewhere on GN and some people got caught in the crossfire. (What an image!)
I apologise unreservedly if my remark was in any way taken as getting at you, I hope you know me better.
In my defence I have had Paws cousin staying from Embra and I missed just about all of yesterday’s shenanigans
Probably no bad thing but also maybe unwise of me to comment without knowing all the background.
So I am very, very sorry and hope you see this.

I also have missed any sniping and nastiness on threads recently as I have not been reading much apart from this one and Good morning.
We don't need it amongst people of our age, we should be more tolerant and more understanding.
We should also realise that most people have problems, sadness and lots of upsetting things going on their lives.
If we haven't, we are very very lucky.

I packed DH off to the walk in eye clinic at th hospital today, after a second flare up of his scleritis. He has been using his eye drops religiously but they don’t seem to be doing the business. We had a bit of twoing and froing about his “maybe I should give it another day - I think it may be getting better” but he saw reason in the end. We were supposed to be going out to lunch today but I know that by the time he gets back it will be too late. No matter. Eyes are more important than lunch.

Morning all. So sorry to hear about your friend Izzabella - it's so sad that those we've been close to for so long are no longer in our lives. I spoke to my cousin yesterday who lost her husband 6 months ago – her brother also lost his wife the following month so they have been supporting each other. She has asked me if I can copy the video of them all at my parents Golden Wedding party 20 years ago so I will need to get on with that in the new year – so many on it are no longer with us.

Ann I hope your aches and pains are a little better today and you enjoy the party at the care home today. From experience they usually make a great effort for the residents. Also enjoy your time with your daughter when she arrives. I’m sure Kitty will settle down – she sounds adorable – it’s a long time since I had a lap cat and I do miss it. Did I miss what you’ve called her?

GreyD yes it was me with the dolls houses – I did make some of the furniture in another life. I was a little shocked when I opened them up the other day to find some items for the diorama (think that’s what it’s called) and saw the state they are in. Everything has fallen over, the place is thick with dust and the residents appear to have partaken of too much rum punch so are all leaning against the walls or laid flat out on the floors. It will all have to be taken in hand after Christmas

I hope Mr GD gets his eye problem sorted out - you're right lunch can wait - eyes are far more important!

I haven’t seen any nasty comments but then I don’t read some of the threads. Sometimes things get taken out of context and tempers rise but there really is no need for upsetting remarks – life is too short to take umbrage. Its nicer to come in here and have a cuppa and a chat.

Today I decided to have a bath (I normally shower) which was fine until I cleaned it down with the handheld shower and accidentally knocked the cold tap on while I was drying it down. The shower came on and shot all over me – instead of turning the tap off for some reason I grabbed the shower head and pulled it off it’s hook then dropped it back in the bath so water was cascading all over everywhere soaking me, the floor and the clothing I was about to put on! I’m going to the hairdressers this afternoon so hoping it’s not an omen!

I can picture that willow sorry to laugh.
Last week when I was in Nottingham I too decided to have a bath.
We had walked too much and I was aching all over.
I enjoyed it until I tried to get out, my GD had to hoist me up and swing my legs over the side one at a time while I sat on the rim, it was very undignified.

marydoll and izabella for as long as I have been in the kitchen (which is quite a while now but not nearly as long as some others) I have never seen anyone turned away.
The kitchen has always been a place where we share the funny, silly, embarrassing and comical parts of our lives mixed with the joys and sadness, the pains and losses.
We laugh with and never at others, offer words of comfort and support wherever we can and if anyone thinks all this is virtual and not real caring then they are very much mistaken. Along with many others on this thread, there have been many times when I have shed a tear, offered a prayer or been awake at night worrying about my kitchen friends. I have also howled with laughter and giggled myself silly at the antics of grandchildren and the happenings of daily life, appreciated the lovely pictures and had great joy at the arrival of another baby. The kitchen is a wonderful place for all and our dear soop is one of those very special people that makes it so.
God bless all of you and may you have peace and joy this Christmas (ooh I've come over all emotional better go and have a bar of chocolate. Oh yes I forgot to mention we also have the best non-fattening, calorie free cakes in the world )

This talk of baths reminds me of a bathroom we had in a Norfolk hotel. As well as a walk in shower, there was a huge, very modern, double ended free standing bath which, once in, I could not easily get out of. I looked like a jelly baby stuck in half a hard boiled egg! We no longer have a bath, but since we had it taken out there are times when I have missed it sorely when, like you Ann, I have walked too much.

DH has a new batch of oinkment for his eyes to clear up the infection, so we will see how that goes. He also has to adhere to a very strict eye cleaning regime so I shall have to keep tabs on him or he’ll default!

N&G those little fellows have packed so much into their short lives. They are so fortunate with their parents and GPs.

GD to me he looks old before his time, contemplating what to do next.

ann I am afraid that I laughed out loud, imagining the scenario having been through it myself a few years ago but with nobody to help me.

I have been out for coffee with GNs but unfortunately one could not come because she was sick. As usual, we had a very good time- lots of laughter.

I drove home afterwards to discover that Christmas had come early. There is a fair expanse of land in front of where 4 of us park our cars. We have been plagued with rats and foxes and if anybody wanted to sell a property it would put others off it looked so awful. There was a fellow sawing off branches and generally flattening the area. That was well worth coffee and a light lunch for him I thought.

The council was informed about the rats and mice and visited the owner of the said land which is why the work is being done now.

That must be a relief Charley! Just having five minutes before I start the school runs!

Ha Grey I see a whole line of sweatshirts, you can be Grumpy Pud, then we can have a Grampy Pud , maybe even a Dopey Pud lol - that’d be me !!

I want to be sleepy pud as I can fall asleep anywhere.

Have not long returned from ironing duty...unscathed for a wee change. We're about to change the dressing. I think that it's healing well. Just need to protect it from being bumped. Back soon.

I have masses of catching up to do. Will need at least an hour in which to do so. In the meantime...he is the burnt knuckle.

Hairdressers passed off without incident thankfully although sadly the lady who lives in the flat above and has been popping into the salon for years has obviously developed dementia and came in several times asking the same question and has given my hairdresser 4 cards already. Very sad.

Willow And there am I thinking that I'm a trifle accident prone. I shall share the following incident with you no one else...
When I was in a hospital in Cornwall, I had a nasty accident as I entered the bathroom. I was mortified. Took it upon myself to take a shower without assistance (not a clever thought on my part). I felt dizzy in the bath/shower. Grabbed the unit and pulled the shower head out of the gubbins. By the time a nurse found me, the bathroom had been wrecked and I was quietly sobbing.

ann Oh, I know the feeling well. Getting stuck in a bath is all too easy. The getting out...well, that's another story.
I'm willing to bet that the celebration at the care home is a very lively event. The care home I visit, has gone to a huge amount of trouble to make the residents and visitors . Will you be dining with your husband on Christmas Day? Our pal enjoys joining her husband for the full festive fayre.

Thankfully, our neighbour is now out of intensive care, having had succesful heart surgery.

The children at the village primary school bake a Christmas cake for all the residents of a "certain age". Ours was delivered today. A very kind and welcome gesture.

I haven't finished catching up. Just need to have a cup of tea.

Yes Willow , it was Christmas jumper day , where they 'pay' 20p for the schools chosen local charity . The children love it .

Oh Soop that does look sore !! I love the cake though - what a thoughtful gift.

We are going to the carol concert this evening. We have a huge church for a small village and the local children are doing a traditional nativity and I have it on good authority there is to be a real donkey and sheep !!

I'm taking my camera because quite honestly this has all the hall marks of a potential disaster - small children , live animals and elderly folks :-)

Feelingmyage I empathise with you in respect of the diminishing numbers on the greetings card list. We have three local pals who are seriously ill. Daft as it seems, I tend to think...^maybe^...but in my heart of hearts know otherwise.

N&G I am hooting with laughter and nodding my head...yes...children and animals together on stage...you are in for a treat.
I saw a wee bit of film on FB that a member of the audience had recorded at a nativity play. The children were all very young. They sang with gusto - Away in a Manger...until one of the sheep decided to remove the baby Jesus from the crib, and dance around the stage with him. Joseph rescued the baby and returned him to the crib. This happened twice. On the second occasion, a tustle ensued. The audience were roaring with laughter.
