Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.

Welcome and thank you all for your wonderful company.

ann, I wonder what the care home would do if you were unavailable to go to A&E with your H. Did his fall do any damage? Did they keep him in for observation?
I'm sure the kitten provides light relief. How is your upholstery standing up?
soop, what a disappointment for you. I'm sorry the procedure turned out to be so much more painful than you had expected. I'm pleased to hear that you have such a 'charming' surgeon. That must be some compensation!
Last night we had our U3A visit to the Royal Exchange Theatre to see a hilarious preview performance of The Producers - Mel Brooks's musical about 'Springtime for Hitler'. A capacity audience was, almost literally, rolling in the aisles. What a treat it is to be taken by coach to the theatre entrance instead of having to search for a parking space and trudge through the rain to the theatre.

I am just popping in to wish all you poorly, troubled people a day filled with kindness an ease. Sorry but I have not brought cake, have been told I am now pre diabetic and must mend my ways. I hasten to add I have a very good diet and think they are definitely mixing me up with someone else. I am being sent on a course to mend my ways, feel like a criminal that has to be rehabilitated.

Hi dragonfly and snap! Hope you are feeling ok and having a good time.

kittylester Sat 01-Dec-18 08:15:47

When my mum was in a Care home the staff would go to the hospital with her but also ring me and, when my brother's or I got there, the staff would go back to the home.

They didn't have enough staff to do without one for as long as a hospital could take.

We had quite a few worrying events when mum first went to the home but things settled down.

dragonfly46 Sat 01-Dec-18 08:14:48

syn it is quite normal that the carehome call. They are obliged to tell you about every little fall and skin tear etc and if they need to go to hospital. I have been many times with my parents. They arrange the transport to the hospital and back but it is up to you whether you go or not. They do not have the staff to go. We were away once when my mum had to go so she went on her own and was absolutely fine!

Nannytopsy Fri 30-Nov-18 23:17:11

Welcome ormond56. If that is your date of birth, we are the same age! Always a kind and calm place to sit in this kitchen, unlike some of the other places on GN. If you need to try out your baking or a new recipe we can help ... ?

Synonymous Fri 30-Nov-18 23:10:29

ann I really cannot understand why the care home call you in to deal with your DH, either they are caring for him or they are not. I think that you need to ask questions after all what would they do if you were unavailable? Seems very odd to me. I hope that you sleep well tonight. flowers

Synonymous Fri 30-Nov-18 23:02:27

So much happening in here, can't do the amazing posts some of you do in remembering everyone so will just say that I have read them all and have you all in my thoughts and prayers.

ann pleased to hear that you are adopting kitty as he/she will be great company and hopefully turns into a really happy and cuddly cat! sunshine
Your husband will seem different because now that you are not with him 24/7 you will notice all the subtle changes. He is so much better with 24 hour care and you can now relax and visit. flowers

Panache glad to hear that MrP is more mobile. As you say, one day at a time! Hope you get some good constructive help very soon. Regarding the property sale it is interesting that a viewing has been booked so far ahead, trying to get my head around that one. confused If the next lot try to knock you down just tell them that you are thinking the price may have to go up if it takes much longer. grin

soop , you poor thing, what a lot to contend with and yet you still come on here and support us lot! flowers

(((hugs))) and flowers to all those who need them particularly those struggling with difficulties and health issues.

Smokie did come home alright but not until after 11pm when we had gone to bed. I went and called one last time and in he trotted. He was dry except for his paws so had clearly found somewhere to shelter. He hasn't gone out since and hasn't really bothered to ask either so that is good. Clearly didn't like it when rain lashed down the windows so perhaps he learnt a valuable lesson. Can but hope!

We got our courtesy car delivered to us today after waiting since Monday and that was only because I rang the insurance company to complain. The first thing that the girl from the car hire company said when I answered the phone was that she had been ringing since Monday and trying to make arrangements to deliver the car to me! I was ok about it all until that point but I really dislike it when people lie to try and cover their lack of service! I cannot go anywhere without a car so I know that all she said was untrue - so I told her that she must stop right there and not continue in that vein since I was aware that she rang so briefly on Tuesday afternoon that I couldn't answer the phone in time and she had left no message or number to ring her back nor had she done anything since until my complaint had reached her. She did one of those nervous titters so I knew that she knew that I knew! Anyway, nice big black car at our service until mine comes back from the repair shop so we are no longer housebound. Hooray! Isn't it funny how you really want to go out when you know you can't! hmm

Bellanonna Fri 30-Nov-18 22:06:30

Poor you soop. That visit sounds like quite a trial. Hope you can relax a bit now.
ann, I hope that/those G&T(s) helped
Panache ?
and anyone else in need

MawBroon Fri 30-Nov-18 22:04:50

Oh annsixty - not again!

Does the care home call you out whatever the hour?
But do they at least provide an escort and get him “home” afterwards?
soop you have my total admiration and sympathy. I hope you are snuggled up warm and a bit comfier than earlier.
Dragonfly I have also responded on your other thread, but flowers you are much in my thoughts.
Finally -and not wishing to ignore all the others with problems, Panache I am slightly relieved some notice has been taken of your predicament but trust there is more support and care forthcoming?
Now I shall wend my coughy and sneezy way to bed - I will not give in to this!
(The Nutcracker reviews are out and it is getting 5* so nothing is coming between me and Sunday’s matinee. )

Doodle Fri 30-Nov-18 22:00:40

Well back to the kitchen to catch up with you all and see some serious need of a very gentle group hug for so many poorly and worried kitcheners.
Your poor rear end soop, no wonder you want to be at home with a wee dram. Hope the procedures work.
izabella and dragonfly life is hard for you both at the moment. We are here with you to give what support we can.
ormond56 sometimes we have fun in the kitchen sometimes so many of us have problems we just get together and hug. Hope whatever is troubling you is resolved soon.
panache glad to hear from you. Wish we could be more help. You and MrP are much in the thoughts of your 'kitchen' family.
kitty glad your DH is ok. Not sure soop wants to sit down though ?
ann so glad you are keeping the kitten. Sounds as through you are well suited. ?
Galen ok I get the pearls, the bloomers, the evening gowns etc but...anchovy stuffed olives and a bottle of gravy..what do you and bella get up to ??!!

callgirl1 Fri 30-Nov-18 21:42:25

Soop, you are much braver than me. After all that you`ve gone through today, you more than deserve that wee dram, indeed, more than one! Sorry that you missed the concert though, you must have been looking forward to it.
Panache, lovely to hear from you, but so sorry that the promise wasn`t fulfilled regarding help. A great BIG buggeration.
Ann, after the day you`ve had, plus your large G&T, I hope that you had something tasty for your tea.
Welcome Ormond, now you`ve dipped your toe in the water, I hope you`ll join us more often.
N&G I`m pleased the eye drops are working. We take so many things for granted we`re lost wnhen suddenly deprived of them.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Nov-18 21:34:37

Ann relax with your G & T , have a good nights sleep and a tasty breakfast.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Nov-18 21:22:48

Panache sending my love and prayers to you both, getting old is such a bugger, but it is better than then alternative ????

aggie Fri 30-Nov-18 21:14:27

Ann take care of yourself , I hope you have something tasty to eat . xxx

annsixty Fri 30-Nov-18 21:09:00

Commiserations to all afflicted tonight, sadly too many of you to mention individually.
I have spent 6 hours in A&E with H who fell at his care home.
It was an horrendous experience, both because it was heaving and because his behaviour was awful.
I now know why I can't cope with him any more.
I am now drinking a VERY LARGE G&T and then I must get something to eat.

cornergran Fri 30-Nov-18 20:10:01

Oh soop, what a palaver. Hope a dram or three will help settle your equilibrium.

Hello, Ormond, of course share your worries here, always someone to listen.

That’s good to hear n&g, can’t have you struggling with Christmas on the horizon. As of this afternoon two trees have appeared here and some extra outside lights. The aim was to bring a smile, didn’t quite manage it but maybe tomorrow smile.

Pleased a sleep helped izabella, I always think the world is upside down without sleep.

Been wondering about greyd, have I lost the plot or was there pressure a funeral to attend? Apologies if I’m muddled

Well, still twitchy, may be back if not take care everyone.

kittylester Fri 30-Nov-18 19:57:32

soop, we appreciate your letting us know what happened. Take your time and just sit down. Anything will be worth the aggro if it helps. I wish I could pour you your wee dram!

Glad you are feeling better Izabella and you n&g - enjoy your party!

Welcome, ormond - did you bring cake? grin Can we help with your problem?

Hello panache, lovely of you to come into the kitchen - we like to know how you are.

Off to watch dgd1 in her drama club play tomorrow and then it's the village lights switch on.

soop Fri 30-Nov-18 19:09:41

I meant to extend a warm welcome to Ormond
" The more the merrier.

NanaandGrampy Fri 30-Nov-18 18:54:58

I think its wonderful you have kept the kitten ann , I KNEW you would . It will be a wonderful companion for you . Enjoy it .

Panache Fri 30-Nov-18 18:39:21

Having written my first longer post in a while as I felt there was such a lot of upset in The Kitchen we are all needed to lend a hand.
Then having lost it by forgetting to press, I was none too happy!!

I hope you do take advantage of my P.M`s Dragonfly for of course our hearts went out to you on hearing your news, then again you too Izabella I can well understand how the weight of so many with serious issues were weighing you down....plus of course Soop.....and all that you had to deal with this day,and others.

So many suffering with this and that, whilst pleasing news that your dear man escaped serious issues with his eye problem Kitty thankfully.
Having recently been diagnosed with MD and my eyes are truly causing a lot of problems, I realise fully how valuable our eyesight really is.

Whilst I am delighted you have decided to adopt your house guest Ann and I hope your H is settling down nicely in his new quarters.

There are many of you suffering issues and I simply hope you can work around them....."One day at a time" I find usually helps.

I am wondering about Morethan??? and can but hope she is recovering again.

As to our own predicament sadly we have not triumphed.
Just as you said GreyD the SS are totally out of tune and there has been no response.
However a certain body, our “Hospice at home” service have taken us both under their wing and have suggested a few helpful little areas that might improve our day to day life.
Whilst advising us that we both need to write a “Living Will” plus this Advanced Care Plan covering our illnesses and end of life care.,especially as we are in such a vulnerable situation.
Of course we realise how prudent all this..... but to have it pointed out by another has just brought home how very vulnerable we are........and yes it is extremely frightening.

My dear man is now fully back in the reins as my Carer although far from well,we are just grateful that so far, we can hobble on.Whilst continuing to sort things out for the better.

Believe me dear folks with families, please cherish them as we certainly wished we had some!

Wishing you all a peaceful night and may the solace of the kitchen soothe any troubled brows.

Ormond56 Fri 30-Nov-18 18:38:08

Hello to you all of you lovely people x I read all the posts but been to shy to comment. Need friends at the moment! as in the middle of a family problem and do not have anyone to talk to. I realise there are so many of you with more serious problems but this kitchen seems a lovely place to unload?

Nannytopsy Fri 30-Nov-18 18:34:59

There are so many Kitcheners in need of hugs and wee drams! Soop, Morethan, Izabella, Dragonfly, Panache andAnn, consider yourselves hugged. I am so sorry to anyone else who I have missed. ?

Izabella Fri 30-Nov-18 18:20:47

Soop thank you. Your words brought tears to my eyes. After a much needed sleep I feel much better.

I hope the prolapse behaves itself from now on. An unpleasant procedure bravely endured flowers

dragonfly I have now read upthread and am sad to read of your own problems. I shall hold you in my thoughts along with the rest of any kitcheners experiencing any form of crisis at the moment. Hugs to all.

aggie Fri 30-Nov-18 18:02:56

Oh Soop I hope the wee dram (or 2 ) helps you get through the evening (((((((((((((((( hugs ))))))))))))))))
