Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.

Welcome and thank you all for your wonderful company.

That sounds rather nice, galen, though I most dreadfully think that asparagus is over-rated ?. Brussells' sprouts are my favourite greens. I made salmon fish cakes with no potato the other day, only mashed parsnips and carrots. Fab.

A friend of mine used to mix avocado, tomato, cottage cheese and flaked almons together to have on toast. That was rather nice. And even better with some bacon ? and using full fat cream cheese (not Philly).

Galen Mon 03-Dec-18 18:28:25

I use the asparagus in the tin. Just the tips!
It’s quick and easy if you’ve leftover chicken.

Baggs Mon 03-Dec-18 18:35:57

I haven't tried tinned asparagus. Might give it a go. It is the stalks that make me think the stuff is over-rated. They can be rather stringy-chewy.

dragonfly46 Mon 03-Dec-18 18:58:43

We used to get white asparagus in Holland and so much more tasty. You did have to peel it though. I found some in Tesco this year

Evening All. Ventured out this afternoon and finished the Christmas shopping. Poor Mr C has been firmly in the naughty list and present-less, he’s now back on the nice list smile. We buy silly surprises for the day, nothing major. I tend to open mine with some trepidation hmm.

Now I’ll never catch up properly so the usual apologies for missing people.

Before I start had anyone seen greyduster or morethan? Haven’t seen either for a while.

There’s some tasty food being described, I’m about to have boring cheese and biscuits, may be inspired to be more creative.

Good to hear from you dragonfly, we’ll distract you while you wait for 13th.

Your pillowcase tale had me laughing galen, Mr C has been known to do the same. grin.

Goodness willow, not sure I’d cope with the toing and froing. Would probably wake up in the morning and wonder where I was. grin.

Ella looks edible n&g, sounds as if the West Wing is being very productive. Hope you’re warm enough now.

Good to hear from you panache, I’m off for a haircut tomorrow too, will look tidy for a day grin. Pleased you remain comfy soop, long may it last.

Disappointed to just find cheese straw crumbs, I’ll be first in the queue if there are any more feelingmyage, I’m also partial to savoury, crunchy things. Trouble is I also like cake and chocolate.

Had an abberation today and bought a knee length very comfy dress to shock family at Christmas. They are so used to me in jeans I’m not sure they will cope. I like the dress today, let’s hope that lasts hmm

Right. The cheese is calling. Take care everyone, look after yourselves.

My 74th birthday today but I really can’t be bothered to cook!
Think I’ll just have another drink, then I’ll go to Bed

Greyduster Mon 03-Dec-18 21:02:06

Sorry I haven’t been around. Wobbly weekend - ditto today. I will look in tommorrow and try and catch up.
Galen may I wish you a very happy birthday???Age is all in the mind. And the knees, and the hips, and the eyes and......

greyduster here's hoping the wobbles are resolved xxx

kittylester Mon 03-Dec-18 22:00:39

Many happy returns, galen wine

gd, I hope the wobbles settle one way or another. sunshine

I've been toying with the idea of a dress corner but it's the tights that pull me up short!!

I have never understood the appeal of asparagus or avocado - all too pappy for me.

Thought this photo would be welcome - it cheered me up.

I'm sorry for not mentioning everyone. I'm jiggered!

Bellanonna Mon 03-Dec-18 22:06:43

What heartwarming pictures N&G and Kitty ?

Charleygirl5 Mon 03-Dec-18 22:46:28

kitty and N&G those photos are fabulous. As many know I prefer the 4 legged variety but this pair's just gorgeous.

I went out for a meal tonight with friends and there was a very anxious Tara waiting at home for me. I do realise I should stay at home 24/7.

A rather belated birthday Galen.

dragonfly46 Mon 03-Dec-18 22:51:23

Happy Birthday Galen

cornergran Tue 04-Dec-18 01:18:41

A belated happy birthday from me as well galen.

Wide awake when I should be sleeping. I’ve no idea why other than excitement about that dress hmm. The tights I can cope with, not sure about the length though.

Another photo to lift the spirits kitty, suspect for many reasons we won’t be having any more new grand babies around but do enjoy seeing other people’s.

Hope the meal was good charlie and Tara has forgiven you.

I’m about to search the kindle app for one of Mr C’s boring books in the hope it will trigger sleep. Usually works smile.

I`ve no chance of remembering everything, so can I just say hello to everyone and especially to anyone sad or under the weather. Ella and Wolfie are just gorgeous, Wolfie looks a happy little soul.
I wrote my Christmas cards this afternoon...…………...and found I was 9 short. With no possibility of going into town again before the 15th, I`ve had to resort to ordering some online, and paying through the flipping nose for them. I think that all presents are ordered now, although not all are here yet. I keep looking at my wall unit/display cabinet and telling myself it`s about time for it`s annual clean and sort out, but since I`ve become decrepit I can`t reach to do the top shelves properly anymore, and the glass doors are a struggle on the inside. The 2 outside edge doors open, but the middle section doesn`t, that`s the awkward bit. Never mind, I`ll figure something out. It takes me the best part of a day because it`s full of little ornaments and glassware, my daughters groan at them, but I do like me ornaments! I`ll try and post a pic to show what I mean.
Oops, I posted one by mistake, but not sure if either show up how the doors are.

Morning all! I am in waking up in Greenwich this morning at DD’s. She has gone off to work and I shall be off to visit friends once the streets are aired ( as my Dad used to say). The lights across at Canary Wharf were very striking last night and they turned on the Christmas light show at the Shard - the top part is lit up. It gave me the collywobbles to even think of how they did it! Not one for heights, me. grin
Best wishes to the sad, the lonely and the poorly in the kitchen today xx

Nannytopsy Tue 04-Dec-18 06:59:36

Forgot the picture!

NanaandGrampy Tue 04-Dec-18 09:08:27

Morning all,

And a belated Happy Birthday Galen from me too!!

Its a frosty one here this morning but it does look very pretty.

Corner will we be seeing you in your new dress?

Lovely picture Kitty he looks like a very smiley baby .

Nothing of great importance going on here today apart from off to weigh in . Unfairly -I know Grampy will have lost more than me despite eating the same things but less for me ! I am blaming that darn afternoon tea( and Jacksons party!!).

I shall have to jpg on the spot in the weigh in queue to try and shift a bit more !!

harrigran Tue 04-Dec-18 09:56:56

Happy belated birthday Galen, I seem to have missed quite a lot yesterday.

Gagagran Tue 04-Dec-18 10:02:02

Happy Birthday for yesterday Galen - sorry it's a late call.

It's 14 years today since my Mum died and for some reason I am really missing her. I thought I had grown accustomed to her being gone but she feels very near today and although I don't think I have a belief in an after life, it has given me pause. I hope she is resting in peace wherever she is now.

The painter is working away in the hall so I am currently stuck in the study catching up with desk work. DH is off on his bike club Christmas ride and lunch so will be gone till late afternoon. The sun is shining for them but it is cold.

Hope all those with physical problems are feeling easier today and those with worries and sadness are coping.

Love the baby photos - such a delight to see them. Thanks for sharing.

dragonfly46 Tue 04-Dec-18 10:20:45

Hi Everyone,

Gagagran flowers

Feeling better today. No hospital visits - just the dentist.
Hope I continue to feel like this until next week.

Anyone know a cure for a very dry mouth?

Love the pics of your grandchildren Kitty.

Our little 3 year old is being quite naughty but she has had a new brother and a move recently so can be excused.

I love Greenwich Granny my son used to live nearby but now moved to Brighton which is lovely but just that bit further.
Daughter still in London though.

Izabella Tue 04-Dec-18 10:25:57

Gosh, so much going on, I cannot keep up with everyone their news, goings on and concerns. I have however read through since I was here last, and as ever thoughts and hugs to all.

Cornergran I have no cheese straws to offer but I am making christmas pudding ice cream later so hurry on in before it melts.

Have posted elsewhere earlier so may need to hide next to the Aga as my comments will no doubt me misconstrued hmm

Lots of ice this morning and news of one family member doing an arabesque on black ice. No damage done thankfully. Also very foggy and getting worse.

Finally a big thank you to everyone supporting me the other day when I went through a blackspot. Nothing has improved, but I am dealing with things a little more rationally now.

soop Tue 04-Dec-18 13:49:52

Belated birthday greetings to dear Galen

Gorgeous baby photo. Such a wee treasure.

I'm running exceedingly late. No real reason. Just one of those days. The painting needs to receive the first wash. Washing machine beeping and ready to be emptied. Will therefore, with your kind permission, get cracking. I shall return in due course. That's a promise. grin

Galen Tue 04-Dec-18 14:09:29

Thankyou everyone

Panache Tue 04-Dec-18 17:15:04

A belated Happy Birthday Galen and what a superb baby smile that truly melts one`s heart.

Just popping in after having had my unruly locks nicely pampered and even I look the better for it,even better after a lovely catch up and drink in the company of my now good friend and hair stylist of some ?20 years or more............I come away feeling better every time.

Hope your hair do was pleasing too Corner

However having not slept last night my eyes are having difficulty in keeping open!

So no prizes for guessing where I am off to!!

Sending you all every good wish and a pleasant restful evening.
