Humpty I suspect one reason is that were the outcome to be 'no deal', the NI question would be unresolvable. A hard border would be inevitable, with all that that implies.

Well said, lemongrove, and I agree with you Annie in that she has dignity, though I'm still inclined to think that some of these MP's on all sides would have thought twice about the way they spoke if it had been a male PM they were dealing with. I admire very much how she doesn't rise to the bait - the best defence.

I'm inclined to think that it is bloody-mindedness, and determination that it's her way or the highway, and not necessarily what is best for the country or what the public want - otherwise why not a second vote: her plan/no plan/remain?

We had the referendum. The people voted to leave, Mrs May is sticking to that result, how much easier it would be for her if she let down those who voted to leave and held a second referendum.

Unlike Corbyn she is not waiting to see which direction the wind blows.

She has been amazing, after a badly run election campaign which ended in a poor manifesto ( when your opposition is promising rainbows and unicorns you shouldn’t promise rain and rabid foxes) she came back determined to do better, and has been doing so ever since.
Damage to our negotiating was done by that election, but it got worse by all the infighting from her own side and from the Labour side, extreme Brexiters/ extreme Remainers, and those pushing a political agenda with no thought for what is best for the UK.An omni shambles that was never expected from our own politicians.
Compared to them all, T May has done really well, as comments from lots on these threads are showing.She has shown dignity and integrity, sadly missing in most others.

She did not 'cause it'. She's just plain persevered with carrying out what 'the people' actually voted for. She has integrity and dignity sorely missing in other parliamentarians of all parties.

I wouldn’t blame her for simply walking out of that 3 hour parliament bear garden with MPs of her own side carping and sniping.

I agree. I've seen people half her age without the energy that she has. Her drive is amazing.
I think she's an inspiration to those who have diabetes that life has to go on regardless even under the pressure that she endures which plays havoc with a system that isn't 100%.
Her husband is a gem too with his constant support.

When I get worried about her or feel sorry for her I just think , she has Phillip , cheers me up.

I think she is doing the best she can under extreme circumstances. I only hope her health does not suffer and that she manages to keep her diabetes under control.

As another non-Tory, I think she's doing a great job against all the odds, both at home and with the EU. I agree she's a gutsy lady. This whole affair has shown some people (in Parliament and outside) to be highly unpleasant and juvenile.

Right now, she needs and deserves the wholehearted support of her colleagues. I hope she gets it.

She has dug herself into a hole now though. She is still talking about the 'will of the people' as of 2 1/2 years ago, but refuses to even consider a Peoples' Vote while she hangs on.

I totally agree. Politics aside she is doing so well to keep strong. I agree she must be exhausted. I hope she can hang on in there and get all the way to the finishing line.
