If I were washing heavily blood-stained items, I would need to do them on a much hotter wash than my usual clothing in order to get them clean.

Sparklefizz that would probably 'set' the stain; they would need a soak in cold water and perhaps some salt first.

Napisan is a bleach product isn't it? I used to use it for the children's nappies. notanan2 was horrified further back when I mentioned bleach.

Mine were put in a bucket of napisan before being machine washed.

Washable pad companies are much better at making wide ranges for different sizes, shapes and flows.

I suppose that once you are in the habit of washing pads then washing blood in gussets seems like a non issue

Pampers would be more appropriate with many pre-menopausal women.

IMO The gel filled always style were not made with period blood in mind. They might absorb blue water in a lab but for me it just funneled it all down the sides. And they are sweaty and smelly.

I meant tampons and disposable pads, in particular the plasticey gel filled ones.

More recently disposable pad makers have had to up their game since women have increasingly rejected them so in order to compete with other methods (including free bleeding) they have started listening to women re shapes and flows etc.

notonan, I tried but failed to be able to use 'disposal san pro' - by which I'm thinking you mean tampons or similar. One because my blood loss was so significant it simply ran down the side of such product and two because they were too uncomfortable (for reasons I won't detail here - enough personal information already)
