Wedding party male dress code at DDs wedding was blue suits with brown shoes. Both FOG and FOB found this very hard but complied cheerfully. FOB even reprised the look for the next wedding he went to (or maybe he was too mean to buy more new shoes??) However they were allowed socks so all was not lost!

Anyway the real mistake this young man made, given he had chosen the blue suit, brown shoes and no socks style was to wear a tie with it. It should have been open neck formal shirt and NO tie.

It was just a general dress code that earth colours belong in the country, no more snobby than women wearing hats and gloves, a dress code that pervaded all levels of society and has now been dropped as fashion changes,

DS got married in a brown Harris tweed suit and brown shoes, because he felt they reflected what he was more and suited his build better than traditional male wedding attire..

My DH is 76 and avoids wearing socks unless we are going out. He has hyperhydrosis and can't bear having hot feet so leaves his socks off whenever possible. It is definitely not a fashion statement for him!

We went to a wedding recently and the male members of the wedding party wore blue suits, brown loafers and the young men had no socks on.

Its a very casual look, (even though its well thought out)

The blue suit and brown shoes is also a thing, I was mocking my son for buying brown shoes to go with a blue suit to his mates wedding and the general consensus of opinion was that he was correct and several friends had done the same. I still thought black shoes would be preferable but hey we're old rents who know nothing lol.

It is the fashion. I have noticed it for several years.

But it is a question of appropriate dress for an occasion. If you are young and a celebrity, it may be part of your image when at A list parties or on tv. At a formal Golf Club dinner it is utterly inappropriate. But if he is the kind of man who wears brown shoes with a blue suit, let alone at a formal event, he is already past hoping for.

He wouldn't have been cold, no socks means your feet sweat and slip around inside your shoes even if you never normally have sweaty feet. it's a trend like all things it will pass.

Nothing new here in Southend. Must have been around for a couple of years. I love the look.

Yes its a fashion trend with young men(and not so young who think they are trendy)
Worse is when their trousers seem to have had an argument with their ankles.

George and Larry Lamb are the only men that I've seen sockless and I quite like it on them . However if I try it , the inner soles of my shoes always get pulled out when I take the shoes off !

I quite like the sockless look.
I never wear them myself.

I haven’t noticed this trend, but remember Don Johnson started a sockless rage ( he also lived on a boat and kept a pet alligator....)
I have been sockless since the Summer and have lived in Skechers which are warm anyway.
If dressed up, men look better with socks.

Yes. It's a fashion trend, like the Hipster Beards, that you see all over the place.

I've not noticed a no sock trend but will be looking out for it now. Sounds very uncomfortable

It must be a trend as I've noticed a couple of men who'd appeared on BBC news not wearing socks. I think it looks awful. It's as bad as those you see who are still wearing shorts-----in this weather ! What are they all trying to prove ?

My sons are 37 and 34, so still young - but they never go out without socks. What was that man thinking anyway - a blue suit with brown loafers? They don't even match!
