Predictive text bloomers

I’ve often invited my children to a smart dinner.

I thought predictive text worked by inserting words that had been used quite often in earlier texts?

Predictive on my phone is turned off but if I need to go back and edit anything the text will then appear in what I subsequently type.

Example :

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy doxjmpslzy.
That's after correcting my deliberate mistakes
How do I stop that ?

My son was amused when I invited him to join us down at the local for a riot!

Predictive text does throw up some real howlers though.

My predictive text years ago put ' willies ' instead of ' wellies'.
on a post I once sent on Gransnet years ago.

When my mother was recovering from an illness I wrote a text to my children 'Just to let you know that Gran is on the mend, she's now dating and drinking'. (My mum was about 90 at the time.) I noticed just in time and of course changed it to 'eating and drinking'!
