Never ever do this!

KatyK, threading is done by the practitioner holding a piece of strong thread in which a loop is made. Somehow (haven't had it done and most probably won't!) the loop is placed on an eyebrow hair and the thread is quickly pulled tight, thus removing the hair.

It is very common in India.

PECS, it must be an individual thing as I have used Beonase daily (on prescription) and other coticosteroids too and still have eyebrows (and unfortunately the other fluff, too).

I wonder why it affected you in this way. I'll go and check the information leaflet and try to find out!

I love the description 'self-inflicted ruination' as it describes my brows perfectly! I try to paint mine on with Tattoo Brow which has been advertised on the telly.
It's a bit tricky trying to get them to match but is an improvement.

My beautician is very good at threading and I have no problems with threading round my mouth and chin but I cant stand having my eyebrows threaded. After the first time I went back to waxing under my eye brows. Much less painful and all over in seconds.

How do they thread someone's face?

I had my eyebrows done once, but the Indian girl who did it breathed garlic over me till I was nearly asphyxiated! Put me off trying it again.

Like Blondiescot I have my eyebrows threaded and it doesn’t hurt. My youngest DD does them and she is a beauty therapist. I think whether it hurts or not is down to whoever does it, and my DD is an expert.

I tried eyebrow threading last year and it was agony. I don't have much in the way of brows; old photos show they were a lovely shape but like most mad girls I plucked them away to almost nothing. A few years back, fed up with pencilling, I went to a local shop and had the remnants dyed. It was amazing how colouring even the smallest, finest hairs made my brows look so much better, and the beautician waxed around the eyebrows - I was thrilled. She suggested threading on one occasion but it was so painful that I returned on the next visit to a little gently waxing. They are still not as thick as I would like but given my youthful, self inflicted ruination, I am grateful that I have some kind of markers to indicate where eyelids end and forehead starts!

I get all my facial hair threaded and find it less painful than waxing. I'm a natural blonde, but since the menopause, thick black hairs have started appearing! I'm lucky in that my local beauty salon owner is very good at threading and I honestly don't find it that bad at all.

I have both lip and brows done.
When I can get there.
I've never found it painful.
I quite relish feeling the hair being ripped from its roots.

The barber's that my husband uses does the full service in with the haircut, ear singeing, eyebrows trimmed.
They also offer eyebrow threading for men only.

Pffft. Why would you PAY someone to cause you such discomfort or pain? Not on your nelly!

Mine are irregular and uneven but I pluck the odd rogue hair myself at no cost. I then apply waterproof mascara lightly across both brows to even them up and define them a bit. Have done this for years and it looks fine, doesn't smudge and costs me nowt (apart from the waterproof mascara which I have anyway)

I don't even know what 'threading' is apart from a new and painful way of making you part with your money.

Hardly got any eyebrows to speak of and I'm certainly not going to pencil any on or I'd look like George Roby. I'll remain " bald ".

Re. threading, I often see this procedure carried out whilst waiting for a hair appointment. Young women rush in for a five-minute session often on their way to a meeting etc. The last time I was there a middle-aged man had it done.

The explanation of 'threading' says its ' gentler on the skin'- but from what ive read here,seemingly not! Not for me im afraid.tweezers anyday.

Pecs that's very interesting. I lost my sense of smell after using a nasal spray. I also lost my eyebrows but did not associate that with the spray. I thought that was due to my age

I had mine threaded for some years, used to emerge with tears and mascara down my cheeks. Now have brows and top lip waxed, much less painful, though I’ve found it does depend on the skill of the practitioner. I would never, ever, go back to threading again.

I pluck mine and use electric razor. reading this I think I'll continue. My (very hairy) husband tried having his back waxed. He came out in red blotches and had to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic. lol. (not funny at the time!)

Had mine tattooed a couple of weeks ago. I am so delighted with result although they gave now faded which is what happens. In the next few days they come through again as ink comes through the new skin.

I first had mine done in Egypt, it is the usual way there, I must say I was surprised tho when I was asked if I wanted the bikini line done as well. I refused I hasten to add.

I've lost practically all of mine over the years because of thyroid problems. I've had them tattooed on and it makes a HUGE difference. My daughter has hers threaded, and comes out with pink eyebrows and tears in her eyes lol
