Morning everyone, need some advice started going to jive dancing with a friend of a friend that I have known for sometime I fancied going for fun and she was on her own so asked her if she fancied doing something different ,we signed up for 10 weeks ,have been to 3 classes but the last one we were a bit useless and a bit dissapointed that we were finding it harder than we thought remembering the routines, during the week I asked her if we could meet up and have a practise she said could she let me know in a few days ,heard nothing from her ,now I have had a message to say can’t go tonight has to babysit ,we can’t go next week because of fireworks and her doggie which I understand ,but I am getting the feeling she does not want to go with me ,I don’t know what I have done wrong ,it’s only on for an hour
I am feeling a bit hurt and it is affecting my confidence which is not brilliant at the best of times what do any of you think I should do.sorry this is a bit long .

Perhaps she's not so keen hollie and is scared she might upset you and the arrangement you'd organised. Some people find it hard to explain without offending. Just tell her it's alright and let her suggest what she'd be comfortable or happy with.

I think you need to find out if she wants to give up on this so I would just ask if everything is Ok. Sadly some people aren't good at honouring commitments.

It's hard to know what others are thinking if they don't say isn't it?
You probably haven't done anything.
Do you have to go with a partner or are there others you could dance with? If you enjoy it don't give up!

I would just go along and see if you can find another partner. Tell your friend. Maybe she doesn't realise how much you liked it and will give it more priority in future.

Hollie is it the sort of jive group where you don’t actually need a partner and you just dance with whoever is there?
If so, could you just go by yourself? You never know, you might end up knowing the other people there better than if you were stuck with your friend.
Your friend may be feeling she’s not very good at it and feels self conscious but doesn’t want to admit it to you.
I’m a great believer in ‘dance like nobody’s watching’ - because usually they’re not, they’re too busy concentrating on what they’re doing themselvessmile
If you go by yourself, you might even find your friend realises she’s missing out and decides to join you after all.
