BBbevan It's strange there was such variation across the country. When I went to a South Staffs grammar school in 1954 we had needlework lessons in the first term in which we made gingham aprons and caps. These were worn in the domestic science lessons which followed and which then continued until we started O level courses. We began with making coffee and ended with making a Christmas cake.
