I agree with all you say, eazybee. It’s so easy to make assumptions from our armchairs, isn’t it. As none of us were there, we don’t know exactly what was said and when it was said. Let them be.

My younger daughter and I were watching the wedding and chatting on the phone, my daughter said ‘ look at her coat, she’s pregnant . As Megan always wear figure hugging clothes or coats with a belt I thought the same. But agree with Annsixty, after seeing her in the tight white dress yesterday , why a very loose coat.

Annsixty - exactly what I thought! Think Megan will have a very neat bump.

I must live in a different world, I didn’t pay any attention to her undone coat & if I had I would not have put those connotations that you have mentioned - Annsixty- am I being naive, do people play such games? ?

After seeing the photographs of the Duchess in a tight white dress yesterday , there was certainly no need for the big unfastened coat on Friday.

Not by Aussies, that's for sure! Day 1 was so stunning in Sydney, with perfect weather, harbour views, ecstatic crowds at the magnificent Opera House, marvellous crowd reception. And it will soon be our turn in Melbourne. Can't wait! I was glued to the TV all the way; so much more to come, all live. Awesome!
Back home, I suppose all fashionistas have snapped up all army-surplus trench-coats and thrown out their beige cardies.! A wonderful opportunity to forget your troubles, for a while at least, and relax. OoRoo

I’m sorry I just don’t get it, which I have already said in an earlier post, perhaps it us Grannies that think of it in a negative way.
In families I know everyone is happy for each other’s Good news, now if someone had bad news to depart, then that would be a reason for waiting until a happy occasion had passed before announcing it.

I am quite sure they will be ignored. Anyway Americans are already claiming a stake in the British royal family ?. They have forgotten the American buried in Frogmore where many Windsors are buried

A small caveat though: How will Buck House deal with Meghan's grumpy Dad and free-loading half siblings who will surely try to cash in on the advent of a new Royal? It seems like the only relative she can count on is her Mother who exemplifies discretion, diplomacy and dignity.

Rather than distract from his sister's wedding day, my son and DiL announced their engagement exactly one month later.
I'd bet close family knew before the wedding day.

Apparently Meghan will still travel to Fiji and Tonga despite risks from the zika virus. She will avoid rain forest areas.

They've obviously taken medical advice but I'm not sure I'd want to chance it.

I would be concerned about any woman who was flying, particularly long-haul, in her first trimester, so presumably she is further on that 12 weeks and the medical advice was that it was fine to go.

I would say the same of anyone who announced a pregnancy on their cousins wedding day.

It was the media who said the announcement was made at the reception .

We only know what the msm has told us. Perhaps they had already told close family beforehand, quietly, not wanting to steal the limelight, but, as travelsafar has said, other members of the wider family, friends etc were asking her why she wasn't have a at the reception.

Well said,eazybee. Which of us was there to witness the announcement? Why invent scenarios to criticise the couple? Why feel aggrieved on behalf of the newly weds? I don’t understand why energy is expended on these activities. Personally, I get on with my own concerns.

I don’t think they had a choice as to when the pregnancy was announced , it was timed to be announced when in Australia

Poor woman.
Whatever she does people find cause for complaint.
Constant criticism of her since the engagement was announced: her choice of clothes,colours, hair, wedding dress, family relationships, too clingy, even the set of her eyes and now the timing of the announcement of the birth. It was communicated privately to senior members of the royal family, not a public announcement at the reception, and possibly it was Prince Harry's choice to break the news then.
She is now pregnant, and getting on with the day job, as most of us did. Good luck to her and her husband.

I know Chucky that pregnancy is not an illness, having had three pregnancies myself. None the less some people are unfortunate enough, and I was one of them, to suffer from horrible morning, and indeed all day, sickness. I believe Kate was admitted to hospital with her first pregnancy due this horrible condition. Looking at the way Megan has been behaving, both at the wedding last week, and as she arrived in Australia, it would appear that she is not suffering from sickness. She has looked both happy and healthy, and ready to get on with the job. Good for her.
However, as pregnancy is also a tiring time for the mother to be, I hope she doesn’t get too tired with a very demanding three weeks in front of her.

Pregnancy is a condition not an illness. Most pregnant ladies have to carry on with their job, which is what Meghan is doing by going to Australia. She shouldn’t be wrapped up in cotton wool. I admire her for just getting on with her work. A lesson for many!

I admire her for getting pregnant knowing she had this heavy schedule in Australia coming up. I hope she doesn’t suffer from morning (all day) sickness as I did, and apparently Kate did too. Up to now, she appears to be glowing so she’s probably lucky and not experiencing morning sickness. I still think this trip will be very tiring for her though, I hope she doesn’t get too tired.

But it wasn’t a family celebration, there were more guests than family .

Come to think of it, they announced it Friday, all those guests yet it wasn’t leaked to the press , photographs taken on mobiles were on line on Saturday . !
