I thought she looked radiant and her dress was perfect. I agree, they look so much in love. It must have been an ordeal for Jack because he would not be used to so much pomp and circumstance. I wish them well for the future.

gillybob I was referring to a mere 2 million compare to the Trump fiasco Of course it’s not a small amount but in terms of we get back on tourism it more than cancels it out . I’m being pragmatic not prejudiced ! I don’t think we had a tourism rush with Trump’s visit . what about all the other dignitaries from all over the world Are we just going to cut ties and become an isolationist nation like the US We have the monarchy and that’s the way it’s likely going to stay , so people get over it ! And I’m not a monarchist particularly I just feel honin in on this £2 m is very convenient for Republicans !

I would never have known the wedding was on if I hadn't read the beginning of this thread - so I watched quite a lot and enjoyed it, but infuriated by the coverage. All the wedding guests were arriving and instead of describing what was actually happening, a 'pop up studio' full of pundits was speculating about what the wedding dress 'might' look like.
Or there was what should have/could have been a separate programme about Great Ormond street hospital and back operations. Etc. Luckily when the wedding actually started, the programme focussed on the event.

It seems so sad ?. The dreadful media, has helped us develop an attitude towards these Princesses. I must say, I don’t read about any Royals, so I’m not the best to comment, as others might actually know more about them. I was horrified to learn from said media, that these ‘lesser mortals’ from the Royal echelon were to have their wedding paid for by us. Only to find it was for security. As that security was for the public, locals and tourists who will gather to appreciate a lovely (I hope) wedding, than I have to say what price a life. I would rather they were safe. I don’t have a clue about the Royal going’s on, but remember how generous, natural and sympathetic Fergie was with us nurses after the Clapham disaster. So hope she and her family have a beautiful day.

I thought I wasn't interested until it came on tv this morning. Then I watched the little children stumbling up the steps in the wind and one of them falling. My heart melted! I thought the bride and groom looked so in love. He looked to her for reassurance and she often took his hand. I know nothing about this woman but she came across as happy and sweet.

An interesting point I had not previously considered was made by one commentator when Eamon H bought up cost of protection for the event, where would you start and stop charging for Police time, what about football matches and other big events where there is a police presence. I thought they all looked like a happy family on a special day, her dress was lovely and a great example to reval her back scars and give encourage ment to to others.

I agree, nigglynellie, proper hymns! She sang them, too, and knew the words without looking. I missed Bocelli ( not sorry) but the music I did hear was excellent.

I watched the whole ceremony and loved every minute (bar Eamon Holmes and his wife with their inane chat and waving out of the window whenever a Royal car came by) otherwise 10 out the 10.

I too had an October wedding in 1971 we had wall to wall sunshine on the day and our honeymoon (spent in my our new home as we did not have the cash to go away) was an Indian Summer.

bluebelle yes you are right, I should have left Meghan out of it. I am not a fan of her style but in no way do I have any personal criticism of her! I do like looking at clothes, that’s all

Everything about this wedding was absolutely fab! Wonderful setting, gorgeous music, weather? could have been worse! It is here!! beautiful bride, very nervous Groom!!, A young couple clearly very much in love, proper hymns! proper prayers! - Certainly cheered me up on a dismal day!

I'm not a great fan of the Yorks, but I thought she looked beautiful and so happy. Her dress was lovely and the tiara suited her colouring.

I was married in October and the weather was wet and windy but I wore white velvet which was weighted.

I too thought she looked absolutely beautiful, and the dress was just so right and both suited her and fitted her perfectly.
I agree with muffinthemoo that her tiara went so well
with the colour of her hair.
Apparently her matching jade earrings were a gift from her
new husband.
Also a lovely traditional service.

I wish I'd watched it now, I love a good wedding! I saw the highlights on the lunchtime news and thought everyone looked splendid, the bride in particular (gorgeous dress). Shame about the wind, but I had that on my wedding day too, along with torrential rain - it really doesn't matter at the time. She was wise not to wear her veil, had she intended to. Mine had to be chased after and rescued from the far side of the reception hotel carpark when it flew off in the wind!

Lovely wedding and I enjoyed the ceremony. I thought the Duchess of York looked beautiful in a simple outfit which suited her well. Of course the £2 million security bill is a bitter pill, but there are any number of things we ‘waste’ money on . (For example, Jihadi wife offered choice of 7 houses and now set to sue the council)......

I popped in at the end and thought she looked beautiful a lovely dress and the prettiest I ve ever seen her look Sarah looked lovely too but Andrew looked miserable so did her sister although in fairness I didn’t see it all so maybe it’s was just that time I wa# watching Little George looked bored

I think both Queen and Duke look very tired and not that well probably just their age showing they are both doing well to be standing

I found it amusing that for a long time, not one of the main tv companies were remotely interested in televising this wedding, which lets face it, not many people are interested in.

Andrew apparently was fuming, then at the 11th hour ITV decided to cover it.

I am horrified at the £2,000,000 it's costing. These girls do not perform any Royal duties, so why is the tax payer picking up the bill?

I am not a royalist but I thought that that Eugenie look very elegant and that tiara - stunning. Echoes of Princess Margaret's dress maybe? The service was lovely and what a surprise to hear Andrea Botcelli. I think that the service was better than Harry's, the Archbishop of York was lovely and Eugenie and Jack clearly had a rapport with him. Dean of Windsor is a stuffed shirt though, still remember the looks he gave that black clergyman at Harry and Meghan's wedding. And what ever you think of Fergie and Airmiles Andy, their daughters clearly think the world of them and vice versa. Wish the happy couple much happiness.

I thought she looked absolutely beautiful. Beautiful dress, a lovely cut and fit and the style very flattering to her. Good call on giving the veil a miss with such a long train. I thought it was much nicer than Meghan’s dress tbh.

Beatrice and Lady Louise looked lovely. Louise looks very grown up all of a sudden! She did very well marshalling the littles who were all vety good. George looked very relaxed with his big cousin.

The emeralds set off her hair colour beautifully.

A lovely service and it was so nice to see how genuinely happy they both looked.

Cakebaker I totally understand your last sentence. I am amazed and saddened by a lot of recent posts on a variety of threads.

The fabric of the dress was lovely - hang so well - must have been heavy as the wind did not affect it. Wise choice not to have a veil with the wind, I would love to feel the fabric of the dress - have a thing about how things feel - I never buy any clothes that don’t feel nice!
