NanKate I will be coming round to yours!

I missed the last one (alternative engagement) and I shall probably miss this one (alternative arrangement - I have a school visit scheduled wink)

NanKate Thu 11-Oct-18 18:00:44

I have a bottle of wine in the fridge ready, feta pastry parcels as a small starter then salmon salad and finally chocolate roulade with raspberries. I always take the opportunity to celebrate a wedding, or opening festival of anything that takes my fancy. DH May pop in to watch a tiny bit of it and will definitely join me for lunch.

I will sit criticising the outfits talking to myself probably. I am thoroughly looking fwd to it.

Grandma70s Thu 11-Oct-18 17:23:32

Lots of bitterness and mean-spiritedness as usual on royal threads. I don’t begrudge the tiny bit I may be paying towards it. There are many worse things. If I manage to watch I shall enjoy seeing it all. I do hope it doesn't rain on them.

Nanna58 Thu 11-Oct-18 17:13:14

Rufus2, if I remember rightly you don’t live in the UK , so you my not object to it as much as those whose taxes are going towards paying for it !

Nanna58 Thu 11-Oct-18 17:03:41

Oops, pretentions.

Nanna58 Thu 11-Oct-18 17:02:50

Apparently at Harry and Megan’s nuptials guests were advised to wear ‘ sanitary protection ‘ as they would not be able to visit the lavatory for hours. Perhaps guests at this ‘ bash’ should do the same in case they have an accident by laughing so much at this silly woman’s pretentious ??

sazz1 Thu 11-Oct-18 16:11:57

Have no time for the 'Royals' so probably won't watch it anyway. To me they are just ordinary people same as everyone else. Some seem nice others really horrible much like all of us. Cannot understand why we pay tax to keep these people and bow and curtsy to them. Money better spent on many things e.g. schools hospitals police poor families etc etc.

minniemouse Thu 11-Oct-18 15:56:01

Eugenie who ? Should have her wedding paid for by her freeloading parents, not us.

gillybob Thu 11-Oct-18 15:52:13

My DDiL has just returned from a huge family wedding Annie but my son and the children couldn’t go as the school (The LA) would have fined them heavily . Obviously George and his cousins won’t have that problem.

luluaugust Thu 11-Oct-18 15:50:34

I shall just watch briefly only interested in the fashion side of things and how certain members of the RF deal with each other.

Marthjolly1 Thu 11-Oct-18 15:46:56

I really had no idea Eugenie gets married this weekend. I hope they have a lovely day but I shan't be following the story.

Anniebach Thu 11-Oct-18 15:45:26

Who would send a child to school whilst the rest of the family attended the wedding

Barmeyoldbat Thu 11-Oct-18 15:35:10

Isn't George being taken out of school to be at the wedding? I think it is disgusting the amor t of money being spent.

HannahLoisLuke Thu 11-Oct-18 15:26:55

I've read that it's Prince Andrew behind all the palaver. That man has a chip on his shoulder about his and his daughters Royal position. He wanted it televised and carriage procession just like other royal weddings. Trouble is, his daughters are only minor royals and carry out no public duties.
Having said all that I shall still watch, just to see the outfits etc. ?

cakebaker Thu 11-Oct-18 15:22:47

Thank you Rufus and Jill.
Paddyann - I don't think this is the place for this discussion and your capitals seem a bit shouty.
But I do think you should do some research.........

paddyann Thu 11-Oct-18 15:09:16

Cakebaker you do realise that Scotland has been subsidising the rest of the DISunited kingdom for decades ..or more .WE pay taxes too and we hand over far more than we get inreturn. Please get some FACTS .

Jillsewing Thu 11-Oct-18 14:44:55

Here hete

Rufus2 Thu 11-Oct-18 14:24:22

What a lot of grumpy grannies!! A young couple are getting married. Surely good news. If you're interested, watch. If you're not don't
Cakebaker; Well said! grin Why does anybody with chips on their shoulders have to parade their prejudices instead of finding something else to do and not spoil other people's enjoyment?
It happened back with the World Cup; "I don't like soccer and I'll make sure you all know!" What motivates them? sad
Btw; I've started another thread to cater for those in favour. smile

Jalima1108 Thu 11-Oct-18 14:23:44

annsixty there was a report on the lunch-time news about the CQC and their findings about inequalities in the system depending on where you live - some areas seem to be fairly well-provided for but in others provision is extremely patchy.
I do hope there is someone who can take up your cause and get you both the care you deserve.

maddyone Thu 11-Oct-18 14:09:07

Annsixty, I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulties. It's quite wrong to be removing money/funding from people in your position. This will have a huge impact on your life, isn't there any way for you to appeal this decision?

I agree with you Annie, I shall 'look in' at the wedding tomorrow, I like to see what everyone's wearing. However, I do think that Andrew and his ex wife are responsible for the somewhat inflated arrangements, although Eugenie must have agreed to them. All brides deserve a happy day, but a big, almost state wedding, doesn't necessarily equate to happiness.

GabriellaG Thu 11-Oct-18 14:07:27

We've known all that for years AnnieBach. Nothing new.

oldbatty Thu 11-Oct-18 13:38:21

annsixty, forgive me if I am talking rubbish but you do claim attendance allowance don't you?

Jaycee5 Thu 11-Oct-18 13:34:01

Granny23 I agree. These figures are taken at face value but we never see a breakdown. I did see one for a protest once and a lot of the costs were fixed costs that had to be paid anyway. Quite a bit will be overtime but that money will be circulated in the economy and at least some goes to the bottom rather than the top.

knspol Thu 11-Oct-18 13:24:51

She is a very minor royal who performs no royal duties, another hanger on who seems set on copying Meghan's and Harry's big day. She is, of course, entitled to have whatever kind of wedding she wants BUT only if she or her family are covering the cost NOT when we as taxpayers are responsible for apparently millions of pounds for security. Even the BBC declined to cover the wedding which is a sign of how little public interest there is in her wedding.
