Many years ago, when we lived elsewhere, we went to some friends every other Saturday, in between they came to us. When it came to supper, she always served up beans on toast, but the toast was from an uncut loaf, sliced so thin you could see through it, and the beans were one spoonful per person and the rest of the tin put in the fridge. One Saturday, my SIL arrived as we were about to go across, so we asked if it was OK to bring her with us, and they said yes. So when it came to supper she did one more slice of toast (sorry, forgot to say it was just one slice each) and one more spoonful of beans. When we got home, my SIL said "I feel awful now for going with you, she really had to spread the food out more", she got a shock when I told her that extra had been done for her!
