Fitted bed sheets

At this time of year I use the Cozee home bedding from Qvc the fitted sheets are deep fitted and all bedding is amazing, feel like you are sleeping in a big cosy hug.

I have fibromyalgia. fitted sheets very easy. and stay put. you must buy deep. I dont lift to put under at all. I just stretch it over the corners. in summer I use a top flat sheet. It tucks in very well at the bottom and I just pull it up and straighten it. I iron the top part where it folds down ( or send it to laundry with duvet covers if I haven't the energy to iron). The fitted sheets just get rolled up- never ironed. Tescos do lovely Egyptian cotton as do Marks.

I had exactly the same problem with our super king bed . Was tired of the bottom flat sheet coming untucked . Went to Dunhelms and bought some deep fitted sheets . Has made all the difference .

I have numerous sets and can’t resist adding to my collection whenever I visit a nice store.
Ah well, when I pop me clogs my family can stock up their linen cupboards from my ‘stash’

I buy online from Soak and Sleep, good value, good quality, speedy delivery and good descriptions of the sheet sizes. Not much variety in colours or patterns, but if it's a bottom sheet that might not matter. I buy deep mattress, king size sheets, and have a heavy mattress too. I'm not sure why you'd need to lift a mattress to fit a fitted sheet on, they seem to just ping around the corners and then don't move. I only have to lift the mattress for flat sheets so I haven't used them for years.

We have a 6' wide bed and also have deep fitted bottom sheets and a flat sheet under the duvet. No way could we tackle the bed on our own and are very thankful to get our bed changed by our cleaning lady. When I was younger and fitter it would never have occurred to me that we would have difficulties changing or making our bed. Now we can't so we don't!

I use fitted sheets too. Mine are just asdas tho. I just hate ironing the b.......s

Oh Ethel can't remember the last time I ironed sheets, shake and fold does for me !

We have flat sheets and bought a triangular plastic bed making device online. There is a knack to using it, but it has been a great help when I had problems with my shoulder and wrist. Sorry I can't remember the company, but you can see it featured in videos if you Google something like 'bed making aid' or 'sheet tucker'. We got two and gave one to a relative, who finds it very useful.

Ethel I iron duvet covers which I think is fussy, but sheets? never! give yourself a break.

I see no point in ironing sheets I'm just going to lie on, but like the feel of freshly ironed pillow cases. I do attempt to iron the duvet covers by folding and re-folding though sometimes this results in one little section remaining crumpled.

I love to get into a freshly changed bed with beautifully ironed sheets and pillowcases, such bliss - especially if someone else has ironed it all!

HootyMcOwlface I like my flat sheet on top too, mainly because I regularly throw the duvet off when I am too hot but the sheet still covers me. (My skin can get cold from the draught from the open window and it wakes me up!). I bought the two sheets I have from the local market, as 'hotel sheets'' more than 20 years ago I think they are cotton but I have noticed one or two tiny holes recently. I have never seen anything (cheap) like them since.

By the way the bottom sheet is fitted (over a mattress protector) and I was totally unaware there were different 'deepnesses'.

As for ironing .... I don't even iron clothes!! What a waste of time.

I remember reading that President Kennedy's wife Jackie always had fresh bedlinen even for an afternoon nap. That would be perfect Synonymous. Not everyone can afford help though. I could but I'm not sure I could cope with a cleaner. I sometimes take covers and flat sheets to laundry. My new sheet is from Tesco 400 thread. Feels so soft.

If you have an electric bed, then putting on fitted sheet is so easy. Just raise both top and bottom of bed quite high, place sheet over each corner, no stretching needed as the four corners of the bed are not quite close to each other, then lower bed and, lo and behold, sheet stretches out beautifully - never any need to iron.
I do use a flat sheet under my duvet, tucked in at bottom of bed, but loose at sides.

M&S sell deepsided fitted sheets, they stay on my deep mattress no problem and they’re easy to put on even with a heavy mattress.

Fitted sheet ordered, brought just one to start with and see how I go on.

annep I was only dreaming as I usually iron them myself. I would use some of my care allowance to pay for it if I couldn't manage, which is what it is for I suppose, although it does feel very decadent I must confess!

I didn't get that Synonymous . I just thought how lucky you were ?. I complain about the Royal family but really it must be lovely to have someone to do all the drudgery and save energy for more enjoyable pursuits. To not have to psyche oneself up to changing the bed, to shower and just drop the towels. Bliss indeed. But knowing me, I would follow the cleaning lady round the house! Many of my friends have cleaners just for 2/3hours each week. They all say they are older and have less energy so why not. I will get there!

annep I do have a general good fairy who comes in for at least a couple of hours a week but she is a bit slower than the last one I had (who flew around like the proverbial bat out of ... [hmm [ ) so she doesn't get to the ironing. She has offered to take it away and bring it back ironed but I haven't succumbed to the temptation yet! As long as I can manage it then I will because I do love a bed made up with freshly ironed bedding even if I do it myself - and Himself does too!

I agree Synonymous. I love when I collect ironed top sheet/duvet cover- perfectly ironed, so much better than I or husband (he loves ironing!) would do it. I look forward to getting into bed.
On subject of good fairy, it must be annoying that last one did ironing but you would have to pay more now to get it done.

Ordered fitted sheet, however it wasn't deep enough so have returned it. Maybe just not destined to have them!

I wouldn't give up so easily. They're much easier to use. Perhaps you just need extra deep. Marks do deep 30cm and extra 37cm. Need to measure the depth of the nattress.
