Fitted bed sheets

I’m the same, Scribbles. I’m like a kid in a sweet shop with bedding.
I have numerous sets and can’t resist adding to my collection whenever I visit a nice store.
Ah well, when I pop me clogs my family can stock up their linen cupboards from my ‘stash’

I had exactly the same problem with our super king bed . Was tired of the bottom flat sheet coming untucked . Went to Dunhelms and bought some deep fitted sheets . Has made all the difference .

I have fibromyalgia. fitted sheets very easy. and stay put. you must buy deep. I dont lift to put under at all. I just stretch it over the corners. in summer I use a top flat sheet. It tucks in very well at the bottom and I just pull it up and straighten it. I iron the top part where it folds down ( or send it to laundry with duvet covers if I haven't the energy to iron). The fitted sheets just get rolled up- never ironed. Tescos do lovely Egyptian cotton as do Marks.

At this time of year I use the Cozee home bedding from Qvc the fitted sheets are deep fitted and all bedding is amazing, feel like you are sleeping in a big cosy hug.

Dunelm do a great range of fitted sheets, buy deep ones and as good a quality as you can afford. Who on earth even tries to fold them? Blimey, they get washed, dried, and neatly rolled into a little sausage, and put in the airing cupboard. Wrinkles get stretched out and then you sleep on it, who ever sees the creases?

I find fitted sheets more difficult to put on than flat sheets as you have to lift the mattress to put them in place properly .

We have fitted sheets for our king size bed but the mattress is very deep and heavy. I'm finding it more and more of a strain to lift the corner of the mattress to tuck under the fitted corners, two of the corners (diagonally opposite to each other) are easier than the other two opposites. Because DH tends to have a one man wrestling match most nights (I'm in the spare bed) one or two of the fitted corners do come out after a few nights. tbh unfitted sheets would be just as difficult to tuck in at the foot and head.

For my spare ordinary double bed I have bought a king size bottom sheet so that it is easy to put on. I just pull int down more one side..

I use the deeper sheets makes it a lot easier than struggle I had with usual depth sheets I also bought sheet suspenders a couple pound from eBay they keep ordinary sheets in place

Be careful lifting the mattress to put fitted sheets on, I couldn’t be bothered to wait for my husband’s usual help with our deep mattress and really injured my back. That was about 15 months and numerous physio visits ago and still not 100%!

who'd a thunk that a discussion on sheets could be so interesting? note to self... get a life.
Dunelm sell all sorts of good makes of sheets, plenty of flat sheets there too.

I am considering going back to flat sheets/ My (good quality) fitted sheets are getting more difficult to put on as I have to lift my mattress up out of the pine base which is becoming increasingly difficult. Must buy a reasonable stock though in case they stop selling flat sheets

I agree with Greciangirl - they won't be very generous and will be a struggle to get over the corners.

Measure the depth of your mattress and, as other posters say, make sure you buy fitted sheets that are deep enough - but not too deep as I did; one rather expensive sheet is quite generous (probably extra deep!) and does not fit as snugly as it should.

I bought stretch jersey fitted sheets ensuring , they are much easier to get the sheet over the corners..

I don't like fitted sheets and in any case am still using 65 year old cotton sheets and I don't think fitted sheets were around then. These sheets are wonderful - they have been in constant use and show no signs of wear yet.
Having broken my shoulder last year I just laid the bottom sheet on the mattress without tucking in at all and it was so successful and effort free that I have continued doing that.
I do sleep very still though.

Only fitted sheets in our house. Easy to use - just make sure you buy them deep enough for your mattress.

A lot of fitted sheets with the mattress depth allowed shown. Some say deep but than can mean 8" other than 6". Check descriptions. Even if you buy from a store you can often find the full details eg measurements on line at the stores website. Fitted sheets should help you.

I always use fitted sheets. Dunelm's Soft Touch Deep (30cm) and Extra Deep (32cm) are both great, good quality, soft to sleep on and they stay put.

A lot of my fitted sheets seem to have shrunk - I blame the tumble drier. What used to be very easy to do is now a huge struggle to get the last corner on. They do stay on once in place though. I've got some fleece bedding which is super stretchy and fits like a dream - it's a dream to sleep on too although obviously not in the summer!

M&S are good for sheets. They do Deep and Extra Deep!

on which planet are you living? Fitted sheets have been out there for decades, just buy deep fit.

I am very surprised anyone uses flat sheets anymore.

Fitted are so much easier and there really is no need to fold them as they stretch out when putting them on the bed.

Don’t go for cheap ones though.

Charleygirl5- you need to buy fitted sheets with extra deep pockets- as from the White Company.

One of the guest bedrooms has a 6ft bed, with a very heavy dunlopillo mattress fitted into a frame - even with a fitted sheet, I just cannot do it with my bad shoulder. Lucky that we always make beds as a team with OH. It used to be our bed- but now we have an 8' bed - lol, well 2 x 4' next to each other- easy peasy.
