Someone please tell me that Chris Evans' twins are not really going to be called Ping and Pong!

I remember learning about Rum, Eigg and Muck when I was at school.

DGD has a friend called Iona, you were the lucky one Jane10

I was usually Jane to my mother (even though it's not my name)

Harrigran I agree about celebrities and their strangely named children to make them memorable.

Years ago we knew of films stars and singers etc, but knew little, if anything, of their family and private life.

Now, in a (lucrative) trend the Beckhams may have started, celebs, even Z listers, have to ensure their offspring are in the news too, by way of photos, Instagram and Tweets.

I am another who wouldn't miss Chris Evans if he decided to decamp to Outer Mongolia. (Bet we'd still be aware of the goings-on of his children though.)

Financial security for life = celebs making their children 'stars' too, from cradle to grave. It's awful.

Boo and Walt. We used to have a cat called Boo.

All of ours had 'tummy names' - gave them beautiful traditional names at birth. They often get called tummy names still, by us and to each other.

(Apologise for not saying, but they would be very obvious to anyone who knew of our tribe)

My Dad used to call me and my bother and sister : Iona (me), Tiree (brother) and Muck (sister)! Scottish Islands if people don't know.
My sister wasn't very happy with her nickname!

Willow10 Fri 21-Sept-18 10:16:51

My youngest son was Cuthbert before he was born! grin

Jalima1108 Fri 21-Sept-18 10:14:03

DD was Herbert ( DH's idea)
However, the DD have their own nicknames for each other as do DIL and her sister.
None of which I could reveal on here grin

Mine were just babies, never gave them nicknames.
I swear celebrities give their children strange names so that they will be remembered. Thinking of Jamie Oliver ... ' oh him that had five kids all with twee names '.

BlueBelle ???

Auntieflo Fri 21-Sept-18 08:29:41

Apologies really for starting this, My DH read the name thing out to me yesterday, as I hadn't heard about the names before.
When our three were little, we called them Herbert, Sherbet and Little Bit.
BlueBelle, after recent surgery, I also now have a Pinky and Perky grin

MawBroon Fri 21-Sept-18 08:15:41

Exactly kittylester !
My DGC were called little sprout, speck and stavros before they were born.

BlueBelle Fri 21-Sept-18 07:25:22

Oh dear I think I preferred Ping and Pong ???
pamelaJ?

NannyJan53 Fri 21-Sept-18 07:20:01

They have named them Walt and Boo hmm

PamelaJ1 Fri 21-Sept-18 07:13:19

Mine might be called floppy and droppy now Bluebelle ?

BlueBelle Fri 21-Sept-18 06:57:07

I don’t remember naming the babies before they were born but I did have a boyfriend who called my boobs Pinky and Perky

kittylester Fri 21-Sept-18 06:33:42

Come on! They were called Ping and Pong in the womb! Did none of you do that? One of ours was Blodwen, another Ethel!!

Alima Fri 21-Sept-18 05:34:15

Knowing what a pratt he is I’m surprised he didn’t call them Brahms and Liszt. Just so relieved he is going.

muffinthemoo Fri 21-Sept-18 01:06:50

I swore if I ever had twins I would call them Luke and Leia*

*at least until DH realised I was pulling his leg

Jalima1108 Thu 20-Sept-18 22:15:55

No doubt they will stick as nicknames

MissAdventure Thu 20-Sept-18 22:09:56

I hope, for pong's sake they decide on a name soon.

MawBroon Thu 20-Sept-18 22:05:57

How about Ying and Yang?

sodapop Thu 20-Sept-18 22:03:01

Unlike Chris Evans Melanie thank goodness he is off to pastures new taking his family with him.

Melanieeastanglia Thu 20-Sept-18 22:00:05

I also don't think the twins are really going to be called Ping and Pong. However, as temporary nicknames, I think they're rather clever.

Luckygirl Thu 20-Sept-18 20:55:48

I understood that they were temporary names till they made a decision.

Iam64 Thu 20-Sept-18 20:30:18

I hope 'grannyben is right and in fact I believe she is.
