saying get set to steal Holly Willoughby's style. Now had it said get ready to steal Judy Dench's (insert your style icon of choice) style I might be racing down to M&S as I type. Why do they never learn?

The range has just been 'launched''. Some of it's quite nice (in my opinion)

Conni7 Wed 12-Sept-18 17:33:21

I had that email, but I didn't know who she was. I expect she's a lot younger than me anyway.

GreenGran78 Wed 12-Sept-18 01:01:13

I would just love to find ANY shop that caters for me, at a reasonable price. I am 5ft tall and size 16. Sleeves cover my fingertips. Waistlines become hiplines. Even short length trousers have to be shortened. it's such a bore. How I wish that I could walk into a store, buy something and just wear it.
M & S have a Petite range in some of their larger stores, but there is a very limited range and even those are usually a poor fit, or are only available in smaller sizes.
To add to the problem, I take size 3 1/2 shoes in EE fitting, so inexpensive fashion shoes are impossible to buy, and many of the more expensive ones available are ugly.
It must be wonderful to be a 'normal' size!

Why don't they make trousers for women with waists that actually fit on your waist, not the top of your hips.
I find Wallis the best fit for me now, and they fit under my bum without that saggy thing going on.

KatyK Tue 11-Sept-18 20:05:34

Yes I agree hulahoop

grannybuy Tue 11-Sept-18 19:50:23

Harris21, I didn't get a reply at all after I offered to be a tailor's 'dummy' so that they might make better fitting trousers!

hulahoop Tue 11-Sept-18 18:52:25

Maybe they were Katy I still think they should give someone else a chance it's up to powers that be I suppose .

KatyK Tue 11-Sept-18 16:12:16

I don't believe they were appearing hungover that day. It was an act.

hulahoop Tue 11-Sept-18 14:19:48

I'm with those you are fed up of same faces everywhere HW andPS would have lost their jobs if they worked for a company they turn up for prog hungover giggle stupidly at silly things I would like to see other people being given a chance it's same as ant and Dec winning everything every year it's a big yawn .

Grandmama Tue 11-Sept-18 14:16:44

Never heard of Holly Willoughby.

Aepgirl Tue 11-Sept-18 14:16:40

I recently made a post (which wasn't distributed for some reason or other) when Holly W. had got the job of Dec's sidekick in I'm a Celebrity. I just wonder how she gets all these jobs. Is there nobody else able or available? As for M&S, I was given an M&S £50 voucher recently and can find nothing to spend it on.

kathyd Tue 11-Sept-18 14:11:20

I love bottle green - don't like mustard though. I make a lot of my own clothes and am delighted if I come across decent quality bottle green natural fibres in fabric or wool. Not seen any in silk.

Blinko Tue 11-Sept-18 12:12:02

Does anyone else think this 'seasons' colours of bottle green and gold are perfectly ghastly? All the retailers, not just M&S, seem to be full of them. Good for the bank balance, say I!

OldMeg Tue 11-Sept-18 11:52:35

Another here with M&S vouchers I can spend. Wonder if they are acceptable in M&S Food as that’s the nearest shop to my house?

oldgaijin Tue 11-Sept-18 11:45:08

M&S? Ugh! Dowdy, frumpy and stuck in a time warp. What's with the wonky hems and skirts with no waistbands.
Is that the Holly Willoughby look? No wonder I can't stand her and now she's to be in the jungle. I won't be watching.

BRedhead59 Tue 11-Sept-18 11:41:16

I'm 65 and have relied on M and S for years. I don't by the frumpy stuff and like good quality separates including jeans and various tops and the occasional dress. I am also 5ft 3in and have to be careful about dress and skirt length. I am also a little overweight! so need smart lump cover.
They should be able to sell me something every time I go in but they can't. Good for my bank balance but not for their business. Come on M and S I'm sure you're reading this - if you're not you should be.

Lindaylou55 Tue 11-Sept-18 11:37:40

I have £50 in M&S vouchers I have been trying to depend since April this year. Was in one of their larger stores on Saturday and once again came out without purchasing, something that never happened in the past. Look forward to the nest range, maybe I will finally see something good I like, obviously not Holly's range. Might be a tad too young for me.

annodomini Tue 11-Sept-18 11:31:00

I have just noticed that I received the email too. HW is going to be a 'brand ambassador' so suppose Twiggy is scrapped!

pinkjj27 Tue 11-Sept-18 11:28:49

Thank you widgeon when will shops realise individual style is the way to go and I for one do not want to be a clone of any so called icon.

grannytotwins Tue 11-Sept-18 11:22:12

I deleted the email without reading it, but I have already bought a beautiful down filled coat from M&S for this winter. My DD is 32 and loves their shoes. She’s very into fashion and they are her first choice especially as they do half sizes. She always finds something she likes.

widgeon3 Tue 11-Sept-18 11:14:24

Well said, pinkjj27

pinkjj27 Tue 11-Sept-18 10:57:38

Why do retailers not get it I do not want to be patronized, as if Ms Willoughby would wear M&S. Matalan do it too trying to convince us that these so called celebrities shop at Matalan . If only they knew it puts me off. I gets my back up that I have to pay the price for Celebrities.

I used to love M&S and Matalan but the quality has gone down so much since using theses so called Icons particularly at Matalan.
I work full time in a professional setting i need to look well- presented I tend to shop in places that don’t use multi-billion pound adverts. Like New look, Zara, Jules and charity shops. I just got a brand new pure silk designer blouse completed with tags for 4.50 . I have just heard john Lewis has paid Elton John five million for their Christmas advert I think its immoral and I will not shop there this Christmas. I have tweeted M&S, Matalan and John Lewis but they all ignored me.

sweetpea Tue 11-Sept-18 10:55:05

I got the email too! I don't suppose HW actually buys the clothes herself, just M and S getting on the HW bandwagon, and she does seem to be everywhere.

Kittylester, I too have discovered the £3.50 tee shirts, brilliant value and fit, and was wondering if they will be bringing out a long sleeved version for Autumn. Here's hoping. ?

I don't seem to be getting any 20% discount vouchers lately, at least not for things I would like to buy!

kittylester Tue 11-Sept-18 10:48:18

Obesity - aaaarrrhhh - the people with! confused

You all know how svelte I am! gringringrin

Kerenhappuch Tue 11-Sept-18 10:46:08

I got that email, I didn't even bother looking.

I've been trying to get Judy Dench's style by allowing my hair to go grey, but I've folded and booked a hair appointment for next week.
