I thought it was Faversham in Kent which recorded the highest temperature this summer with 35.3 C (and in 2003 a top temperature of 38.5 C.)
Porthmadog was the hottest in June 2018, when the temperature hit 30.6 C but then the summer just went on getting hotter.

Our TV news was showing us that Britain has had quite a warm summer, which must have ended by now.
The current issue of The Railway Magazine (just arrived) claims that Porthmadog (of all places) was named as the hottest place in Britain, which surprises me. I'd have put my money on some place in the South East; but there you are, wonders will never cease.
Actually, the main point of the article is the devastating effect fires had on Vale of Rheidol Railway and other Welsh narrow gauge railways, as well as Scarborough and IOM railways.
The warm weather certainly seemed to have been shared around. smile
