My ex could fix almost everything and that was useful and saved us a fortune, but his presence was not, quite often, very good. I am very independent and am used to being alone after divorce, but now I have an other half and he needs a rocket under him to do 'maintenance' and he is a bit of a bodger when it comes to fixing things. It all came so naturally to ex..so I have made comparisons....which are supposed to be odious, aren't they?

However, he is a lovely, lovely man, he has enriched my life no end so I'll put up with the snoring and other irritating habits. The football season has started and he was out all day yesterday and although I enjoy mooching and time alone, it did cross my mind that the house was empty without him in it - and even more serious contemplation - if he died, wouldn't it be awful to be here alone. Yes, the first match of the season for him and I missed him!

Whenever he annoys me, I have to remind myself that I am not without faults. Space - lots of space is the key. It essential to cohabiting I think. I was glad of yesterday's strange wake-up call. I need to show my appreciation more often I think.

There is one advantage in being involved with a building firm

Since returning from holiday last week DH has put a new door on the shed, repaired the strimmer, I thought we would have to buy a new one, repaired the radio arial on the car, the previous one was removed by a monkey on a visit to the Safari park at Longleat, completed the plans for our extension and submitted them for planning consent. Apart from that he is a real lay about!!!!!

Oh whatever happened to the "odd job man". I also have many little things that need fixing but no-one is interested in doing small jobs. I was married to a builder so have rarely held a screw driver and as a result am absolutely useless at this sort of thing

Perhaps we could have a thread where GNs who are good at D.I.Y and are willing to help the useless amongst us and earn a little money could post the area they are in!

I have 2 broken door catches, a ceiling that looks as though it machine down, I think there is a slow drip in the bathroom above and a toilet seat only fixed on one side.
