Anyone else feel the same?
I do have dc and have recently become a grandmother.

It is very nice on here RedRidingHood (mostly) and there only a few prowling wolves for grans to look out for grin.

RedRidingHood Sun 19-Aug-18 18:20:23

I'm 60 and not a grandparent as I had my DC late. They are early 20s.
I have been on MN for about 12 years and while there are parts that I love I feel much of it is no longer for me.
I struggle with the sheer nastiness on MN <looks over shoulder hoping it's nice here>
Also I feel there is a generational thing. If I read one more thread about evil baby boomers or MILs I will scream.
It used to be fun on there.
I would like to think GN might be more tolerant and wise and yet still be witty and clever?

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 18:08:44

I wish I was a 36 yr old grandmother!

Elrel Sun 19-Aug-18 17:53:00

Just changing identity and off to Mumsnet for Bonjela on Fanjo!

FWIW My gorgeous GGD is 1, has an 18 year old mum and a 36 year old GM, her other GGM is about bee63's age.

And I'm sometimes known as Hip Hop Grandma ...

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 17:21:42

Alypoole Just checked the "bonjela" thread on MN and thought was so funny and witty BUT be warned if you post similar it's likely to appear in the daily press with your user name. I see this was reproduced in The Sun, for one. Fine if you don't mind the world seeing it.......

Fennel Sun 19-Aug-18 12:42:52

I post on both, less on MN. There are so many members there, there's rarely a give and take discussion.
But they have some very interesting topics, keeps me up to date.
And those gorgeous baby photos!

I lose track of how many news/politics threads are here at any time but despite earlier implications there is only ever one on TA.

Alypoole Sun 19-Aug-18 11:44:46

Grin didn’t work! Doh.

Alypoole Sun 19-Aug-18 11:44:15

Bathsheba it’s hysterical isn’t it it? I was on holiday at the time I read it and was laughing out loud on the hotel balcony. I kept reading bits out to my husband. I also sent it to my daughter and daughter in law who are in their 30s. They enjoyed it too. Grin

Yes, the OP has changed considerably since yesterday.

The original OP appeared to be written in fairly challenging terms for a newcomer and in a way which could make posters rather wary. Perhaps, to give the benefit of doubt, it was meant in a jocular fashion.

How come it has changed to make subsequent posts seem rather rude?
There are some very strange things happening on GN this just lately
confused

Bathsheba Sun 19-Aug-18 09:55:59

Oh my word I've just read the Bonjela thread on MN and have been nearly crying with laughter. Thank you Alypoole grin

Eglantine21 Sun 19-Aug-18 09:39:35

Hunting for the Bonjela ...........

Grandma70s Sun 19-Aug-18 09:34:04

I didn’t know The Archers was anything to do with age. The people I know who listen have been doing so since they were in their 20s. I don’t listen to it myself.

Alypoole Sun 19-Aug-18 09:10:20

I rarely use mumsnet any longer but my favourite post on there was definitely “Bonjela on my fanjo”! Take a look at it bee63 , if you can and you’d realise we gransntetters are certainly NOT perms, retirement and rocking chairs! I do listen to The Archers though even though it irritates the hell out of me.

Bathsheba Sun 19-Aug-18 09:10:02

The comment saying "That's a bit cheeky" was in reference to the thread title. Goldengirl was, I believe, taking umbrage at the view that 55 is too young for GN, with the implication being that we're all much older and in our dotage, knitting and nodding off in rocking chairs.

Bathsheba Sun 19-Aug-18 09:06:04

Sorry, should have refreshed to see later posts before I posted!

Bathsheba Sun 19-Aug-18 09:05:06

So now the answers make little sense as the original post has been changed nothing about knitting and archers in it any more!!!!

I don't think it has been changed - the reference to retirement and The Archers was in a subsequent post by the OP, at Sat 18-Aug-18 12:44:03

BlueBelle Sun 19-Aug-18 09:00:31

Sorry 12.34 not 3.34

BlueBelle Sun 19-Aug-18 08:59:49

Pollyperkins it has had words removed from the original if you look at 3.34 post by golden girl it’s says That’s a bit cheeky’ and that is BEFORE the subsequent post by Bee There is nothing cheeky in the title post now

kittylester Sun 19-Aug-18 08:57:20

Not originally, polly.

pollyperkins Sun 19-Aug-18 08:51:55

That had me confused for a minute Kitty but on re-reading I think the Archers and retirement comment came later, not in OP.

Oldwoman70 Sun 19-Aug-18 08:46:01

Don't we all feel different ages through the day? I feel much younger than my years (most of the time!). Reminds me of something I read on the internet:

My brain tells me I am 25
My sense of humour suggests I am 12
My body keeps asking me if I am sure I'm not dead yet!

harrigran Sun 19-Aug-18 08:36:03

We have a gran on here that had a GC when she was in her 30s and was a GGM at 60.

Grandma70s Sun 19-Aug-18 08:24:29

I’m 78 and sometimes feel too old for Gransnet. The majority seem to be in their 50s and 60s, still working.

Did I read that someone was a grandmother at 43? I still had children at primary school when I was 43!

kittylester Sun 19-Aug-18 07:29:50

How the hell does that happen bluebell?
