This is the legit way threads work....

Q: How many GNers does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
6 to argue over whether it's 'lightbulb' or 'light bulb.'
Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is 'lamp.'
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry and that 'light bulb' is perfectly correct.
19 to post that this page is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb page.
11 to defend the posting to this page saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant here.
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and which brands are faulty.
5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs.
15 people to complain about other people being judgemental for the way in which they change their light bulbs.
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.
5 to post to the page that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.
4 to say "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs."
1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that (insert politician of choice) isn't the brightest.
4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.
5 people to get sidetracked on a discussion about bacon and coffee and how the only reason we need light bulbs is that we can see them to cook them.
1 admin to ban the light bulb posters for inserting political discussion and close the thread.
6 to complain I have cut and pasted a lengthy tome.
702 to mention that I posted this once before.
It’s still funny though lol x

And you can buy ' smart' light bulbs now but I don't know how they work.
But someone on GN will be able to tell me......

Would the last person leaving this thread please switch off the light? Thank you
Bathsheba; Could you please "cut and paste" your message over to the ("Lengthy cut and Paste...) thread as well.? Thank you! smile

Auntieflo Sat 18-Aug-18 13:14:34

Thank you Kateykrunch, made my day.
Will somebody please now explain why "Vintage" globes are so expensive?
Or have we had that discussion before?

Bathsheba Sat 18-Aug-18 13:08:08

Would the last person leaving this thread please switch off the light? Thank you smile

Rufus2 Sat 18-Aug-18 13:06:23

KateyK; Very clever!smile Could you please issue a re-draft substituting "bulb" with "globe" so that my Aussie friends can share the humour?
"Bulbs" are like what we plant in soil, hoping to see a flower, eventually. and are non-electric. grin

DanniRae Sat 18-Aug-18 13:05:08

"Didn't we go through all this already?"................grin

How can lightbulbs be dim? I sometimes, ok rarely , have a lightbulb moment , come to think of it though, yes dim is appropriate

Bridgeit Sat 18-Aug-18 13:00:16

I think you forgot to mention that :

No Lightbulbs were injured during the writing of this post & that you apologise if you have inferred that sometimes they can be a bit dim ?

sodapop Sat 18-Aug-18 12:50:39

Made me laugh too KateyK and the additions.
We did forget to add that light bulbs should only be changed whilst wearing plimsolls and a onesie. ?

goldengirl Sat 18-Aug-18 12:37:55

LOVE IT! Really made me giggle - it's so TRUE!

lemongrove Sat 18-Aug-18 12:32:07

ninathenana Sat 18-Aug-18 12:29:40

Love it smile

rubytut Sat 18-Aug-18 12:22:53

Surely it should be DLB, even if complaining about it and then-- strike through-- a few words to make an amusing comment.

Bathsheba Sat 18-Aug-18 11:45:12

Sorry, I was trying to show it in full, but of course it got converted - it shows as http://www. etc etc

Bathsheba Sat 18-Aug-18 11:44:00

What’s a URL?
It's the website address, which appears at the top of the page - www.gransnet etc etc etc

merlotgran Sat 18-Aug-18 11:40:27

I love it and I loved it the first time. grin

Galen Sat 18-Aug-18 11:38:13

What’s a URL?

Bathsheba Sat 18-Aug-18 11:20:03

Am I living dangerously? Maybe. But I guess we need someone to live dangerously on GN - things need to be challenged. you could be the new jingl

Scribbles Sat 18-Aug-18 11:19:14

...asking if we can go back to incandescent bulbs...

Plus 44 environmentalists giving lengthy explanations as to why this is a bad idea ...

Jalima1108 Sat 18-Aug-18 11:16:40

grin

I could find the EU directive(s) and copy and paste those if anyone is interested.

No?
Ah well, I do have better things to do today anyway.

kittylester Sat 18-Aug-18 11:16:35

Gn at its silly best! This is why I like gn!

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 11:15:24

I agree.
Am I living dangerously?

Bathsheba Sat 18-Aug-18 11:13:28

MawBroon grin. Although in truth it's not funny is it? angry

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 11:09:35

I am sure I could find an appropriate link in the Daily Mail wink

Or you could cut and paste the relevant —pages—paragraph

Doodle Sat 18-Aug-18 11:07:20
