Just had my daughter on the phone ,its her birthday next month and she's not happy her OH will be working away for it.She is having a big party the day after and he will be there though he'll arrive late .Apparently is all MY fault her expectations are so high .".I always gave her fab birthdays" I'll add that to the "its all your fault I'm a chocolate addict because you never let me have any for years "

What do you gat the blame of in your family .

My husband does ALL the cooking in our house. Last week we were to have chicken. I put the oven on, and left him in the kitchen. At 7.30 pm I said "our chicken must be done now". I went into the kitchen and the chicken was still sitting on the worktop. To my shock he blamed me! I had put the oven on so I should have put the chicken in the oven. As I never have ANYTHING to do with cooking how was it my fault?

Nothing...absolutely nothing. They know better than to place false blame on me. They were given the tools for life and a lot of love and from the moment they left home, responsibility for their choices and paths, lay on their shoulders.
They do occasionally and variously attribute some looks/personality/habits they have, to either their father or myself but they are positives.
I think that to whine about your OH not being there 'on my birthday', is both childish and petulant.

I read some research once that said people with a tendency to blame others live longer, as it kept their stress levels down

Yesterday my husband borrowed my car. He returned, from a 3 hour return journey with two passengers, saying I had failed to let him know that the tyre pressure was low, as the indicator light had come on.

When I said that this was the first time the light had come on. He said it was on because I had not noticed it when it had come on before!!

For breathing? An old friend said that her MiL had a "doghouse" and that her D was always in it unless soneone else had a prior claim... I think it's my life too. Whatever goes wrong is my fault. So now I assume that I'm in the doghouse just for exisiting grin
"A Mother's place is in the wrong" indeed - unless one is a Mattie and it is just "always be in the wrong"!!!

These posts have really made me chuckle.

My AC blame me for all sorts of things, mostly joking though fortunately.

A mother's place is in the wrong!!!

Grammaretto Sun 12-Aug-18 11:44:52

If only I had made them practice, they'd have all been able to play musical instruments now but alas I let them stop lessons one by one...hmm

Grammaretto Sun 12-Aug-18 11:37:36

Oh yes, just remembered I also get blamed for her bunions. Because I have them not because I put her in I'll fitting shoes.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Aug-18 11:31:54

Ah yes!
My sister and I liked to blame my mum for making us finish what was on our plates. smile

nipsmum Sun 12-Aug-18 11:28:32

Sheilasue. I get the same complaints from both my daughters. My eldest told me she is overweight because I made her eat what was on her plate. She was 7 stone when she went to university, now she is nearer 15 stones. She hasn't lived with me for over 30 years now. You've got to laugh !!!!!.

mokryna Sun 12-Aug-18 11:24:32

My fault she needs to sleep so much.

mabon1 Sun 12-Aug-18 11:03:37

spoiled little girl grow up to spoiled woman

Sheilasue Sun 12-Aug-18 11:01:55

My daughters only grumble is I put her in Clark’s shoes and the clothes she wore were awful, it was the seventies she didn’t complain then only when she looks at the photos now ?

It was my fault my ds partner got extremely drunk on the all inclusive holiday I had booked and paid for, she caused a huge scene in the hotel, told me she hated me, that i had tried to buy her love, this after I had given her £3,500 to buy into a hairdressers which she only worked in for 3 months, then left after a "disagreement" her 6th in 8 jobs. So now ds doesn't speak to us, but still "uses" us to babysit so thankfully still see gc.

Tidusmc Sun 12-Aug-18 10:46:45

I actually pass the blame on. No it's your nanna's fault, she made me do it, so I made you do it (Whatever do it was or is at the time lol). Or, yes it was me, do I care? NO, not really. Are you going to die from whatever it is, very possibly not, so bloody well get over it. Or, thank god I gave you options, now you can choose to do what I said/do or choose what you want to do. The ultimate message being I really don't care, but if you get it wrong chances are I'm not going to say anything, now that will really piss them off lol.

Legs55 Sun 12-Aug-18 10:44:41

I'm sure DD has a long list but she keeps her complaints to herselfgrin. Probably my fault that she's a strong, independent woman but of course "she's not like me", more like her Gran(my DM), her OH disagrees but DD can't see it. Oh & of course she blames me for her F who abandoned us when she was 4, but she doesn't blame me for her adored Step-Fatherhmmsmile

ajanela Sun 12-Aug-18 10:32:43

This thread is very reassuring as I get blamed for things I know I never did. It makes me feel so much better and in future I will not get upset.

burtieb26 Sun 12-Aug-18 10:30:25

It’s my fault non of my children married. They all live with partners. It’s because I got divorced - twice!

Mercedes55 Sun 12-Aug-18 10:28:02

It's my fault that my 95yr old mother is unhappy where she lives. She made a choice, which no one else agreed with, back in 1985 to buy a bungalow not far away from where I was living. The place was too small for her and my dad and needed tons of work doing to it. Years later I moved 3 miles away when I bought a house with my partner and since my dad died 18yrs ago my mother has blamed me for 'abandoning her after she gave up a lovely home to move to be close to me'. It beggars belief that she still says this to me most days all these years on.
I actually think every negative thing that happens to my mother is blamed on me sad

tavimama Sun 12-Aug-18 10:18:27

With twin teenagers - I was recently told it was my fault they were even born! After all - they didn’t ask for it! This because I asked them to tidy their
room (sigh) confused

lovebooks Sun 12-Aug-18 10:17:48

Mothers are ALWAYS to blame. Accept it.

suzz Sun 12-Aug-18 10:11:47

Bridgeit Sun 12-Aug-18 10:11:46

‘You should have reminded me’. Seems to be the favourite cop out ?
