It's the little things!

I just want to share something that happened today.
I have been experiencing a very low patch recently, and finally spoke about it with family. Today, my DD arrived unexpectedly, and gave me a sheet of paper. with a diagram of "why you make my world a better place".
Such a lovely thing, and I will treasure it always.....but what has surprised me are the multiple "little things" which she has included.
Some made me laugh :
you do craft and playdough, so I dont have to
Some made me smile:
you make me tea and then make me sit down long enough to drink it
Some surprised me:
you tell me when I am being an idiot

The thing is, it was so much about very little things that I never give a second thought to. Not the big gestures, or even the major support that has been needed a couple of times. Just daily life.
It made my day, so I wondered what 'little things' make gransnetters worlds a better place?

A lovely gesture on your DD part Chaosinc.
So agree that little heartfelt gestures mean so much

For me.
A smile from one of my DGC.
An unexpected hug again from on of my DGC.
My DD telling me (tongue in cheek) that she believes DGC would rather go to our house play at than go to EuroDisney.

And tonight even though DH who is just as exhausted as I am after a full day, has made me put my feet up.
Cooked a lovely meal and is now doing the washing up!
Which will be followed by lovely cup of coffee?

What a thoughtful DD she is. You did a good job bringing her up, you are, I'm sure, proud of her.
We should all enjoy the little pleasures of life as much as we can. This afternoon I was walking with two friends and we stood for ages watching small fish in a river. Then we went for a cup of tea and a good natter. A really lovely afternoon.

Today, I was out shopping alone in a large shopping mall, when I heard a voice shouting, "Gran, gran!"
I looked up and a tiny tornado threw herself at me.
I hadn't expected to see her until Friday and to top it all, DIL took me for tea and cake.
It's the little things...

Chaos I think that was a beautiful - and very thoughtful - thing your daughter did for you.

In the past couple of weeks people have said some very complimentary things to me and it has meant such a lot. A few days ago I was talking to a homeless client who was very distressed (with good reason) and I needed all my skills and tact to help him to become calm so that we could address his problems. After he left I was feeling completely drained, but someone sitting nearby had overheard our conversation and took the trouble to tell me how well I had dealt with what could have been an inflammatory situation. It was only one sentence, but it made a world of difference to how I was feeling.

Yes indeed. One of my daughter's happiest memories is that one morning I fussed and made complex braids in her hair when she was about 5.
You never know what will be remembered.
Lovely daughter you have to treasure.
