I' also on pip but mine came from the council and all done via email and approved the same day, I was gobsmacked they were so efficient, not like them at all.

gillybob I was going to say similar. It has been a real eye opener gaining more knowledge as you meet people with problems. There are so many health problems that are dibilitating that unless you suffer from them you don't know what a person is going through and often don't know unless you live with them. Hope you are lucky but seriously hope your application is successful luckygirl

kitty my mum was on dialysis for years. neither she nor my dad could drive so no need for a blue badge. After a very long day on dialysis she could barely walk or even hardly stay awake she was so weak and late in the day after was in agony waiting for the next session. Dialysis is horrible for anyone so it probably is automatic for patients to get a well deserved blue badge.

My very obstinate brother in law, who has severe rheumatoid arthritis but claims no benefits (grrr), has just got one.

My friend's dh is on dialysis and has one - though I'm not sure why - it seemed to be automatic.

At the Alzheimer's society we have found it to be very random.

It should all be better in the new year when the criteria change.

I got my Blue Badge last year, admitedly I do get PIP so the process was easy. I do have a friend who doesnt get any of the benefits who also got one, in our area (Surrey) she had to have an assessment and submit medical evidence. Fingers cross you get yours to.
Just as a matter of interest did you know it can also be used to prove disability to get entry to some attractions at a reduced rate and this means companions can also get reductions.
