a song from the past

I'm listening to Johnnie Waker's Sounds of the Seventies right now on radio 2. I only discovered it a few weeks ago (Sundays 3pm-5pm), but in that time have heard quite a few songs that don't get regular airtime, but that bring back great memories of my teenage years

It's just come to me, I think Love Grows was by a group called Eddistone Lighthouse. I'm not sure if they ever did anything else.

You are right, Chewy, I can recall the words of songs of the 60s and have no idea what I was doing last week. It's great to have those memories though.

That carpenters song reminds me of young friends of mine who got married very young.
Their wedding pictures were put onto a video with that music.
I often wonder if they are still together, as they were such lovely people and so much in love.

I have been listening to 6music. There was a programme with Roger Daltrey,and those old Who songs transported me back to Sunday afternoons listening to John Peel - hot summer afternoons with the curtains drawn, just like today. I was back in the sixth form again, just for a while. Now the worries of today have started to come back and I shall have to do some washing.

I so miss John Peel.

I think that's why programmes on Radio2 such as Sounds of the Sixties are so popular. They take you right back there. A couple of others around at that time, Love Grows (Where my Rosemary Goes) and Sugar, Sugar. I think that was by the Archies. Sunshine all the way!
