'Beach Baby' by the group First Choice always conjures up lovely memories of when I was 15 years old. I had 2 friends at that time, and we used to love doing random things to pass the time. We lived by the Coast and decided one evening to go on a Mystery Coach Tour one summers evening.
It cost us 50p each and as everyone else on board were basically pensioners, we were the 'babies' of the group.
We had a truly great time seeing places that were new to us before stopping off at a pub for a lemonade. On the way back, my Friends and I started singing some old songs.( I told you that we did random things ).
I will never forget the moment when everyone on the coach joined us in 'Underneath the Arches', and 'My old Man said follow the van'.
My Friends and I had a truly wonderful time and best of all, the other Passengers thanked us for the sing song when we all got off.
That was when I heard the song 'Beach Baby' playing in an Arcade close to the seafront.
It made the evening somehow complete. A perfect summer song for a perfect summer evening. Happy Days ??.

Forgot about Gary Pucket and the Union Gap. The 60's was defo the time to be a teenager.Bet the youngsters today dont have half as much fun as we did. Did anyone go to the Stones concert in Hyde Park in the 60's.I will never forget the butterflies released for Brian Jones the drummer from the stones who died. Ah Happy Days!!!

Such nostalgia. I was always a massive Beatles fan and was a teenager in the '60s, so love all 60s music. Some of those above brought back so many memories. My sister was three years older and before I started buying records, hers would be playing around the house. I love them now - lots of Elvi, also Poetry in Motion (Johnny Tillotson I think), Eddie Cochran, the Everley Brothers, April Love by Pat Boone, Petula Clark singing Sailor, Alma Cogan songs, so many more.

I Heard It Through The Grapevine always takes me back to strutting my stuff at Uni.

Fennel We've Only Just Begun was our first dance song at our wedding...43 years ago last week .We always go back to the church where we married on the day and we always have a wee shuffle around the sitting room to the Carpenters in the evening.

Every song from my childhood and youth (and a fair number since, too) brings back such vivid memories. But why do these memories often make me feel sad now? How does nostalgia do that?

Oh my, songs from the past are so evocative. I can remember playing with the girl next door and we were singing " I want some red roses for a blue lady", then when at Uni it was "Unchained Melody "by Jimmy Young. My friend's mother had a small hotel in Blackpool and the Ted Heath band used to stay there , so we sang all the songs by Dicky Valentine, Lita Rosa and Dennis Lotis--do you remember "How much is that doggy in the window"?

I can remember being at a disco sometime in the past, sitting in the corner with my hair freshly permed by my mum, and feeling incredibly out of place.
The song was 'Mississippi' by pussycat, I think.

I was a Saturday girl in Woolworths when I was 16. I worked on the Pick 'n' Mix counter, or loose sweets as we called it. The girl on the records counter played all the popular songs of the week, usually the top ten from Top of the Pops. She played Gary Puckett continuously. This is a blast from the past.
