I really love GN but is it just me,that sometimes finds it a bit cliquey?

Jalima1108 Thu 02-Aug-18 22:22:15

Just a home-made badge in the shape of bagpipes.

We were not normal teenagers - not by todays' s standards! grin

lemongrove Thu 02-Aug-18 22:16:11

Did you wear clan tartans?Did you have a dirk up your sleeves?

Jalima1108 Thu 02-Aug-18 22:13:44

lemongrove Thu 02-Aug-18 22:08:28

lemongrove Thu 02-Aug-18 22:07:52

Have you been watching Highlander again Jalima? grin

Jalima1108 Thu 02-Aug-18 21:51:45

I was in a gang at school, but we were posh we called it 'a clan'!

Suki70 Thu 02-Aug-18 20:21:06

As an eight year old I was invited to join a gang by some older girls. We sat in their shed in the dark, one winter's night and the initiation ceremony was to pass my finger through the flame of a candle. I couldn't do it, refused to join and went home. Can I still join your gang please?

lol lol Marydoll

No you haven't Chewy. I found them in the Argy after the last knees up. They were so matted and yukky, I thought they were rats and disposed of them.? ? ?
You will have to come up with another plan.
Bikergran, I did knock door and run away a long time ago. Unfortunately, I ran round the side of the lady's house, straight into the arms of my MOTHER. I never did it again.?

I have a wig and dark glasses and a stick on beard we could use for when we're going incognito.

Fennel Thu 02-Aug-18 18:34:38

Or we could stalk people we suspect to be spies, or up to no good. That's one of the things we did. It was wartime though!
And wear purple or red hats - no that would attract too much attention.

bikergran Thu 02-Aug-18 18:00:37

can we play knick knack.....(you know where you knock on doors and run away) (not that I ever did that of course) shock is that bad enough ???? (promise not to knock on any GNtters doors grin

Jalima1108 Thu 02-Aug-18 15:31:49

I know no-one Blencathra

Or should that be "I know nothing"?

Jalima1108 Thu 02-Aug-18 15:30:14

I promise to behave myself
sorry, you're definitely not allowed in if you behave yourself!
We don't want any goody-two-shoes in our gang clique!

petra Thu 02-Aug-18 15:04:48

gilly
No you bloody can't grin

Blencathra Thu 02-Aug-18 13:16:08

It is cliquey. It is bound to be when people are regulars and know each other and go to meet ups. I come on occasionally - can never remember who anyone is and have no intention of ever meeting anyone and I keep out of things like Soop's Kitchen. It suits me the way I use it. If you feel unhappy I expect the answer is to be a regular and attend the area meeting to become part of the clique.

Fennel Thu 02-Aug-18 12:50:34

That's shocking Elegran. I remember there were a few worries like that a year or 2 ago and that's why I changed my username. It used to be my own first name.
I would also like to join the Gang. My qualifications are that I was leader of a Gang of Four when I was about 11. It was a Dare Gang. We also organised girls vs boys fights, which the girls always won.
But I'm not expecting to be involved in that kind of thing now. Hopefully.

Elegran Thu 02-Aug-18 11:45:50

Maggie It was one which is not much read by most gransnetters, but someone kindly posted a link - I suspect the "victim" of the criticism was a journalist who used the responses as material.

Maggiemaybe Thu 02-Aug-18 11:14:20

Blimey, I didn’t know names had been named in the national press! Sometimes I think I live in my own little world.

gillybob Thu 02-Aug-18 11:12:10

Can I (being as ill bred as I am) please join your special gang?

I promise to behave myself....well I'll try me best any how hmm

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Aug-18 11:06:59

Any room for me please ? I am a 'gang virgin', clique sounds much more 'ladylike' (not sure that is correct grammar)

I am known for getting things wrong, always get the wrong end of any proverbial stick. So you would always have someone to pin the blame on lol!!!!!

Anniebach Thu 02-Aug-18 10:30:59

Elegran, you were mentioned in a national paper? Good grief

Rufus2 Thu 02-Aug-18 10:22:43

was a shame as you could put a face to
the name
bikergran; Be careful what you wish for! grin
I'm not at all photogenic and I hate to think what name you'd apply to my physog! sad

I’m back from a restorative walk with the dogs, after the News almost gave me a headache. El Gran , my plan today is to try and avoid being too philosophical. My shallow response therefore is yes we can (thanks Mr Obama for that).

bikergran Thu 02-Aug-18 09:52:49

I think the word "Clique" is a posh word for "gang" smile

Cos I is very posh...I even make my toilet roll into a little point at the end grin

Do we have to wear name badges if we are in the "clique" with blanked out faces...!
