Raining

Quite a lot of rain early this morning so things feel a bit fresher now,

No rain here in my little corner of heaven Devon, but this morning the temperature has dropped and I'm so enjoying the cool air. Having wanted rain for weeks, I now don't want it to arrive until this afternoon as it's the W.I. summer fair today and the proceeds are going to my homelessness charity.

It is raining here in Birmingham as well. Wonderful! I don't like to be hot and at last we have a proper British summertime, rain. Where are you based mcem?

Around 11pm a spectacular (and much-needed) storm started.
The heaviest rain I've seen in a very long time rushing down the hill.
Widespread sheet lightning in violet and pink.
Now that's what I call a thunderstorm!

I woke up to lightening flashing at 2.20am, no rain no thunder, had no rain since May !, I live in kimbolton Cambs. My poor garden is a crisp, the apples, pears and plums have dried to hard bullets on the trees, the shrubs have mostly gone brown, I cut the last flower heads off the roses yesterday removing the last flower in the garden . I have a couple of baskets I water with tap water, my poor greenhouse and courgettes and beans, I’ve watered twice a day for nothing, DH pulled the beans out yesterday, they were an eye saw.

Sorry to go on, but I’m so upset, I’ve always loved growing veg to feed the family, but this year, what a waste.

We had some rain last night but it didn't last long. Not enough!

When I looked at my BBC weather app last night today’s forecast was rain, rain and rain for today. I took a screen shot.

This morning it has now changed to,sun, sun and more sun.

I think they just make it up. My old granny could have done better than that so I’m off to find a pine cone ?

Not a drop here in The Black Country.

Who would have thought earlier this year, we would be yearning for rain in July!!

We had 5 seconds of heavy blobs of rain yesterday evening, but we could see rainbows around us.

There are the remains of a few puddles on the patio but it must have evaporated almost immediately. I have never felt so hot as last night/this morning!

Lying in bed, I was thrilled to hear the heavens open. I thought brilliant a lovely rainy night for the garden but it didn't last for long at all. Very disappointed. No hirpling called for.

We had a thunderstorm earlier. It lasted for about 45 minutes, the rain it produced was heavy but of short duration. We are forecast more storms tomorrow. DH hates lightning as he was struck once when he was a boy. He has the mark on his shoulder to prove it. He was lucky, as the trees he was running through took most of the strike.

I think we in the South East might be having ours tonight but my fan is so loud I probably won’t hear it. Remember to,look out for the blood moon tomorrow, weather permitting. It’s quite orange tonight, full moon tomorrow plus lunar eclipse.

We have storms/rain forecast for tomorrow. Bring it on.....Please!

I've been out and made sure the dahlias are staked so fingers crossed nothing will be flattened.

We had about 20 large drops at teatime. Though we've a flood alert in place just up the valley so it must surely be on its way to us now.

Well, I’ve learnt a new word! I love it too

I much prefer hirpling to limping. It sounds so much more dramatic. I practise it all the time.

Oh I just love that word Jane10, my mum was a great hirpler- she taught me everything I know! Funnily enough my old boy was brought up a 20 minute walk from me, yet he'd never heard the word till he met me!

Dropped down to 31 here now. I’ll join you hirpling along, Jane, if/when it rains. I must look that word up as I don’t know if I know how to hirple.

Oh I wish it would here. Still sweltering and very close and oppressive this evening.

I'll feel like running about in it like people do when the monsoon arrives. (I say running, but realistically, I'll be propelled by my stick and hirpling along. Scottish word alert)

Our storm is expected tomorrow, I'm beyond excited, I don't think I will ever moan about it raining again
