Just seen pics of Prince Louis and his family, what a happy little fella he is?

notanan2 Tue 17-Jul-18 16:19:19

I doubt that Sarah she looks exhausted from all the attention to me...

but you are right I think about Kates support system, it has always grounded her and given her a buffer from the stresses if Royal life IMO.

Theoddbird Tue 17-Jul-18 16:35:09

Why does everyone pick on Meghan. She is totally different in every way to Kate. Please everyone STOP comparing them. Meghan will find her way. I think she is lovely

notanan2 Tue 17-Jul-18 16:37:20

well I think she's lovely AND I think she looks like she is struggling terribly.

DanniRae Tue 17-Jul-18 16:37:48

Well said Theoddbird!!

lizzypopbottle Tue 17-Jul-18 16:41:46

Think back to those photos of Princess Diana and Prince Charles where they were standing apart and she looked so sad and lonely. Is that what's wanted for Harry's wife?

Hm999 Tue 17-Jul-18 17:05:07

Totally with the MM comments, stop all the negativity. Loved the olive green dress and I thought she and Harry both looked very happy, with just a hint of nervous as you do when mixing initially with the in-laws and her BiL's in-laws. I found all those very pale colours an odd choice with small children's sticky fingers around, and didn't Camilla's hat look like one of the Queen Mother's?
George's shirt was ok, but a little toddler-ish, just an ordinary white short sleeved shirt with those shorts would have looked better. (I wonder if William ever looks back at all those awful clothes he was dressed in?)

merlotgran Tue 17-Jul-18 17:13:21

George's shirt was ok, but a little toddler-ish,

That's the point I was trying to make about George's clothes. He's five on Sunday and little boys change a lot in appearance from the toddler/kindergarten look so why dress him in clothes beneath his age? Most parents love to see their little boys look a bit more grown up on special occasions.

gillybob Tue 17-Jul-18 17:16:50

Oh Annie Seriously ? A football strip ? Or was that just because I said I didn’t like the outdated style of the photo and George’s blouse ? I mean my family always have their family photos taken in football strips propping up the bar in the local pub ! But there again we’re common .

I think I MM looked lovely . She’s very natural .

Anniebach Tue 17-Jul-18 17:22:24

I agree Megan is totally diferent to Kate. Kate was 29 when she married, Megan 36 and it was her second marriage. Until her marriage Kate was not use to being photographed as is Megan. Kate went to university then lived mostly with her family. Megan lived in Canada for 7 years , as well as an actress she launched her fashion line with a company. She has addressed the UN, worked in Venezuela and studied in Spain.

I cannot see the shrinking violet that some see.

sarahellenwhitney Tue 17-Jul-18 17:24:04

Anniebach. I agree. There is no need to use race when referring to a persons actions or choice.
Anyone who can go on a TV stage, open to the world, and seen to be removing their clothes is no shrinking violet Royal photographs must be a piece of cake in comparison. The 'dynasty '? which Meghan has entered may not be quite what she expected. Time will tell.

Jaycee5 Tue 17-Jul-18 17:37:55

123coco I'm glad somebody said it. They are still in their honeymoon period, she has left her country friends, mother behind and is learning a new job with lots of rules (look how people pick of little things like wearing too bright a dress) and she isn't supposed to hold his arm? I think you are right - there is something else at play. Have people forgotten so quickly how difficult Diana found the early years and although Meghan is obviously older and more used to the limelight, it is still a massive change all done in the public eye.
People who actually meet her seem to like her and she has led an interesting life.

luluaugust Tue 17-Jul-18 17:42:28

I thought Kate's hat was inspired by the 1940's and she looked so happy which is lovely. Meghan seems to have been told, even by Harry, not to hold hands all the time so taking his arm if she is not sure sure where to go or stand is her only option. I liked her dress but it was the odd one out, does it matter? Goodness knows if she really knew the "part" she was up for, her father obviously had no idea what happens to most royal in laws.

Anniebach Tue 17-Jul-18 17:47:20

Thank you Sarah, I don’t like or dislike Megan, I was wary of her when I saw her poses for her engagement, so professional, she cannot be camera shy , she is the most world wise woman to marry into the Windsors

Legs55 Tue 17-Jul-18 17:50:23

Poor MM, she can't do right for doing wrong. Her choice of dress was I read to avoid deflecting attention away from Kate. They are different women, dress differently, Kate has had years to perfect her "style", MM will in time find her feet & perfect her own style, you cannot compare the two women. As for clinging to Harry, I'm sure he's quite capable of telling her if it's inappropriate. Thought they all looked lovely, Prince George will always be dressed formally for official photos, much more difficult than dressing a little girl. Not sure about Kate's hat but it's growing on me.grin

Anniebach Tue 17-Jul-18 17:54:55

Why did Megan think she had cause to deflect attention away from Kate? If this is correct it proves she is very self assured .
By not wearing the cream and blue the others wore she certaintly drew attention to herself.

merlotgran Tue 17-Jul-18 18:03:08

They are still in their honeymoon period,

Sorry but I can never take this sentence seriously when it refers to a couple who have already lived together.

Mapleleaf Tue 17-Jul-18 18:04:05

Goodness me, she wore a green dress. How very dare she!!??
In some eyes, the poor woman will never get it right, will she?

grumppa Tue 17-Jul-18 18:27:22

I fear to intrude on this thread, but in the photo in my paper on Monday MM is not holding Harry's arm and is smiling while wearing a dress I would describe as pale sludge rather than green.

Should I interpret the independent stance and the smile as indicating that the poor woman is relishing the prospect of imminent divorce?

gillybob Tue 17-Jul-18 18:28:21

I thought she looks looked amazing and showed her own individual sense of style too .

notanan2 Tue 17-Jul-18 18:29:06

Diana married a fantasy so was bound to be disappointed. She married a Royal first then thought the romance would come after.... she was nothing like MM. She and Charles didnt even properly date before their pretty much arranged marraige

MM married her boyfriend first and formost, except now she is married to the Royal family. I expect that she was warned about what it would be like but thats not the same as actually doing it.

Shes looking less and less her age and experience as time goes on and more like a lost girl.

Just because we have age & experience under our belts doesnt mean we never end up in over our heads/out of our depths & feeling lost!

gillybob Tue 17-Jul-18 18:39:46

Diana was chosen as a breeding machine . It was clear from the engagement photos that something wasn’t quite right . MM and H seem to be very much in live and have chosen each other . I just hope the firm let her be herself . I loved the way she linked her arm through H’s it seemed so natural .

gillybob Tue 17-Jul-18 18:40:08

In love, not in live !

notanan2 Tue 17-Jul-18 18:56:28

I agree, they were proper "boyfriend and girlfriend" when he proposed, unlike Di and Charles, so not comparable.

I dont understand why MM has MORE royal duties than Kate did? Surely being a bit further away from the crown should let you off the hook a little!

Kate was much better looked after in the early days IMO. Both by her own support system and by the Royal family who didnt really throw her in at the deep end the way they have M.

Anniebach Tue 17-Jul-18 19:27:24

William and Kate went on their first royal tour two months after their marriage . Harry and Megan will come October, five months after their marriage. So hardly thrown in the deep end. Megan has visited the four countries of the UK as did Kate. Attending church and standing on the balcony is’t being thrown in the deep end surely . Let’s not martyr Megan, she hasn’t been forced in at the deep end. And she lived at Kensington Palace for some time before their marriage, several Windsor families live there .

Nanna58 Tue 17-Jul-18 23:28:25

Firstly, what an adorable picture of of the new prince in the paper today, loved his chuckling face! BUT what a pity his mother looked as if she was dressed for an audition in a Merchant Ivory period drama, seriously dowdy and old fashioned, even by royal standards.
