I've been on a trip. It was right outside my house and the trip ended up with me breaking my leg in two places. I then went on a journey in an ambulance to hospital.

'It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive'
as someone said once, but I have never thought that on a long-haul flight.

Me and Hubby often go on a ‘journey’, it involves exploring a new place and often includes a picnic, sometimes the ‘journey’ is better than the destination, as I can be quite lazy and dont want to trot around, so I hate it when please want to talk to me about my cancer journey!!!, but I aint letting them spoil my exploring, adventure, picnic journeys, they can find another adjective!

No me either - been on a 'journey' that is. Neither have I 'ever been to me' 'found myself' or 'known who I really am'. I shall however 'try to be the best version of myself' and 'embrace life's opportunities'. Now I shall have a cup of tea and a custard tart.

I agree, such ridiculous phrases. ‘ Find myself’. ? Well here I am right here, and so far I know who I am .

Annie, you do yourself down. We who went with you recently. You found strength, and "just got on with it", but I believe that you did journey through all that was thrown at you, and are still managing, doing your bit and coping every day. You are an inspiration to many of us.
By theway, did you ever sort out your need for a small table? Just wondering. ?

meaningless phrases, one my line manager was found of in meetings was "blue sky thinking" .
My idea of blue sky thinking was to lay back, close my eyes and snooze in the sunshine !

We have a younger friend who has been 'finding himself' for a long time.
He has journeyed all around the world, not sure if he found himself anywhere on his journey.

(he is lovely though, so we will just )

Havent been on a journey,been led up the garden path once or twice and round the block more than once ,does that count??

That phrase is becoming so hackneyed and wearisome now. I really don't want to hear another tearful reality show contestant use it or I will scream. Not that I watch reality shows you understand.

Panache, I never, ever, think I have been on a journey, I have just muddled through ups and downs in life.

Sometimes we need a new kind of dictionary telling us in plain english exactly what is meant by these stupid words or phrases!!
Though Annie we are all on a journey actually...............since the day we were born!!!
Many of us.......like yourself.........have many colourful chapters therein!
Thing is we choose not go on a public stage..............telling all and sundry the details of what is after all,our private journey!!!

We could organise a coach trip, full of people who have focussed on never going on one of those 'journeys'. It's one of those management speak, nonsense phrases, used to control staff who complain about constant changes, the reinvention of the wheel etc. Yes, I have been told "we're on a journey". No, we weren't, we were in a nightmare.
