Well I believe it is Rufus2 91st on the 8th. We are holding an impromptu virtual party for him. All you need to do is say what you are bringing or doing and what you will wear.

Rufus has promised to be on his best behaviour ?

I will be DJing and wearing a rather fetching sparkly purple jump suit. And before you ask Rufus you can't come in your Birthday suit, this is a respectable party.

Over to you.

LuckyFour Fri 06-Jul-18 17:05:13

I wish you all lived in my village, we could have such fun!!!

Waterloosunset Fri 06-Jul-18 16:50:20

I will come as a bunny girl - Rufus was asking about rabbits the other day ?

sweetcakes Fri 06-Jul-18 15:41:48

Thanks for the invite I'm going to bring pie mash & liquor, jellied eels, and a barrel of bitter to go with the hokey cokey you'll be thirsty after that and the birdy song?? and I'll be waring 1970 platform boots hot pants although on me they will be lukewarm pants!!

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 15:39:42

On the stroke of midnight on Saturday in the UK. Now Rufus are you behind or ahead of us

9 hours ahead! I'll be having my Weetbix whilst you are still living it up at midnight after England's win, but please leave some booze for the party. grin
And what's with this talk of bouncers.?
I imagined all GNs were gentle folk, but are you saying that some might be roughies? Or gatecrashers? sad
I'll have to recruit some of my Over 80's club members; They'll sort it! grin
Ooroo

Oopsadaisy53 Fri 06-Jul-18 15:18:31

* minerva* we look forward to seeing you. Chauffeur driven! My, you do travel in style, I’m having to get the No.63 but my luggage is in matching bags ( Waitrose bags for life of course).

Cakes and fizz have been sent ahead, I hope they are
safe ...........

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 15:14:57

and are we working onRufus time or UK

Ninathenana; Good question; I recommend we observe both. That will give every one a fair go (goes) at the luscious cakes and the upmarket liquid thirst quenchers! wink

Remember though; we are 9 hours ahead of you so I've got a good head start doing Oopsadaisy's quality control work. smile
Strewth; I've just realised. If England beat Sweden, there might not be any left come Sunday, and even if they lose, perish the thought, there definitely won't be any! sad
Oh dear! I must get to bed. It's past the witching hour again.
Good Health

I’ve booked my flight. First class, not just for the canapés and champagne but also so I can take double the luggage. I have to be ready for any kind of weather given the time of year over there so I’m packing most of my wardrobe. I also get a chauffeur driven car to the venue.
It’s very exciting as I thought I would never travel anywhere ever again, if only because of the cost of the insurance for an old crock like me.
I can’t wait to meet you both and everyone else. I might even get out of my wheelchair and dance.

Oopsadaisy53 Fri 06-Jul-18 15:09:32

Don’t worry Nankate I will make protecting the Bouncers one of my priorities ( Hee Hee) ?

NanKate Fri 06-Jul-18 15:05:28

On the stroke of midnight on Saturday in the UK. Now Rufus are you behind or ahead of us ?

I have hired some big strong guys as bouncers. I am a little concerned if any of our members could be tempted to chat them up. ??‍♀️?

cavewoman Fri 06-Jul-18 15:04:32

I was thinking of a firework display but I've just been on the annoying neighbours thread.
smile
So I will release a couple of my doves instead.roastchicken

Feelingmyage55 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:57:10

Ooh candles or those sparkly fireworks? Or both?

Feelingmyage55 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:56:38

Definitely wearing a hat but not telling yet which one. I will be making ice cream floats for everyone, with a choice of ice cream flavours and cream soda or fizzy lemon. Definitely paper parasols in the ice cream floats. No gin until after 5 pm.

ninathenana Fri 06-Jul-18 14:48:47

and are we working onRufus time or UK

ninathenana Fri 06-Jul-18 14:44:00

What time does the fun begin ?

Oopsadaisy53 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:37:26

The cake is 4 feet tall rufus as there seem to be a fair number of party goers and we don’t want to run out, some like to take cake home with them too.

Went to Australia, came back.

I hadn’t even thought about presents, but now you’ve mentioned it, I’d better get it to the shops.

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:34:01

Which is a tad unsettling far to go to what

Oopsadaisy; It's only me again. smile I'm trying to get to bed, but you keep on inviting responses and I can't resist you! grin [joke]
Have you thought of Australia? We're "far for you to go" and you'd land a job straightaway as a wine taste controller; no problem.! confused
And what's that 4 feet creation all about? Is it my birthday present? You shouldn't have, you really shouldn't! wink
Ooroo for now. Good perping, parping etc.

'

Oopsadaisy53 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:11:20

PS
what time does the Bash start, and do we need glasses for the fizz or will a straw each be ok ?( paper straws not plastic,of course) I have allowed us 1 bottle each. Is that ok ?

Looking forward to the sausage rolls...

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:05:42

Are we having an Aussie-style barbie? I could bring some tinnies - is XXXX or VB your preference Rufus? Although I must say I prefer a chilled Australian white or a Shiraz

Jalima1108; you of all people should know that an Aussie-style barbie isn't a barbie without bush flies! grin
And I went off beer from the fridge a long time ago when Spike Milligan described it as
"Cryogenic Mouth-Wash" grin
As I keep reminding anyone who cares to listen,a Shiraz, or even a Merlot is always acceptable.

Are you really going to sing "Advance Australia Fair"?
You'll be brave; standing (or maybe not!) on your own.
Hope you've got a good, strine-free voice, otherwise guests will be throwing pieces of birthday cake at you, especially if you've forgotten "girt by sea" and the rest.
And don't look to me to rescue you. grin
It's going to be a real hoot, but bopping is not for me; I've got a doctor's chit! wink
Ooroo

Oopsadaisy53 Fri 06-Jul-18 14:00:34

Well, apparently as a Thursday child I have far to go

Which is a tad unsettling far to go to what?
For what?
And how will I know when I get there?
Or, more worryingly ( is that a word) have I already been there and not realised it?

I think I’ll just concentrate on this birthday party and worry about mine in August. As you might have guessed, purely as a quality control issue, I have sampled the fizz just to be sure........

annsixty Fri 06-Jul-18 13:40:31

I was Monday so I "am fair of face" never was a truer word spoken, says she modestly??

Purplepoppies Fri 06-Jul-18 13:31:46

It was my birthday 2 weeks ago. It largely went unnoticed so I'd love to join the knees up please??
I will bring chocolate vodka (any chocolate you fancy Rufus???).
And I make a mean sausage roll ?.
I will wear a beautiful dress I bought in Next, floaty in a gorgeous rust colour ?

Rufus2 Fri 06-Jul-18 13:21:10

rufus how will we recognise you?
Oopsadaisy53; At the rate you're going I doubt whether you'll be able to see anybody, let alone recognise them. grin grin

You can't be serious! Depends on whether any other Grandads are coming. If none then it would be dead easy if I could wear my birthday suit, but that's been ruled out for fear of starting a stampede. grin
I'll still be wearing it, but camouflaged by sackcloth and ashes if England crash. sad
Otherwise look for a tall handsome fair-haired (virtual) gentleman, what speaks proper like and not a hint of Strine! Yes, I've still got my own hair!
Only 2 sleeps left! The big match starts at midnight Saturday, so do I stay up to watch it"live" and risk spending Sunday slumped "non compos mentis' under the drinks table regardless of who wins.? confused
Not to worry, I'll be another year more mature and wiser. smile

BTW a Google search confirms I emerged into the world on a "Friday" and as we all know;
"Friday's Child is Loving and Giving" So True! smile
Ooroo and Good Health

lexigran Fri 06-Jul-18 12:58:52

I can't beleive I missed out on the germolene dress......just looked on sale pages and there are plenty more amazing styles to choose from wink . Can't wait for the party...I'll bring a "hedgehog" with cheese and pineapple on sticks smile

Greyduster Fri 06-Jul-18 12:34:18

I shall wear a hat with corks around the edge. Nothing else - just that?. But first, in order to get enough corks, I will have to open a lot of bottles and drink the contents. Don’t wait for me - I could be some time!

Prettypolly82 Fri 06-Jul-18 12:22:06

Look forward to joining the party for my 83rd but there won't be any kicking up a storm as just recovering from hip replacememt. Luckily all going well.
