I’d love that rope bridge, no sense me. We did a tree top walk in Costa Rica along a similar one and had to let go of one side as it was being used by a column of huge red ants. I thought it was fun. Oh dear.

Our friend was in theatre for 4 and a half hours yesterday. Is very sore and uncomfortable but happy to be home. She should see the consultant in two weeks.

We decided to take a stroll to local shops this morning for one item. Were out for three hours, well a coffee stop was needed and came back on the bus with two bags full. No hope is there?

Love the sound of that pool n&g, Mr C has offered to spray me with the hosepipe, wonder why I said no?

You should be fine in Somerset maw, we’ve a constant breeze so although we didn’t get to the beach it’s very comfortable here.

Oh well, should do something today so will stir myself.

Thanks Maw - most of my (best) clothes come from Box2. Sadly they have dropped most of those floaty summer wedding things they used to do. I was planning to get my outfit from there. They do more crop trousers and tops these days.

Very humid and heavy here ,I have retired to lie down for an hour, all I can hear is H pacing the house.
I have been up here 20 mins now and as yet he hasn't called up to see when I am coming down.

No, ann a different one, much further away so no day visits. The one we visit regularly is also poorly again, not needing much on a practical level as she will finally let local people help, but lots of emotional support. Our friends all seem to be struggling one way or another, mostly with health. It does make us count blessings, we have our issues but nothing that can't be managed - she types with crossed fingers, not easy

Usually the constant breeze (often howling gale) here is a nuisance, this summer it has been a real blessing. Windows open front and back and there is a cooling breeze right through, we are indeed lucky.

I'm sorry but my pool photo will be delayed as the farmer is cutting the crop in 'our' field and its a storm out there.

Grampy was out taking a photo ( we are city folk - we love all this country stuff) and was heard to say ' I feel like a farmer' as the massive combine went past !!

I suspect there's more to being a farmer than large machines but let Grampy dream!

corner That was a very long time that your friend endured in theatre. She will feel drained today. We trust that the news that she gets two weeks from now, is cause for hope. It will seem an awful long two weeks for your friend.

There is rather a lot more to farming I can assure you N &G....and a lot more noisy rumbling machinery too........it was far more hands on and communities join ing in when I grew up on a small farm,now its all massive....noisy.... machinery!

The weather in West Wales at least decided it would try and match your warm weather and indeed a lovely sunny day it has been.....the mist just faded away.

Seems as if your friends are really going through tough times healthways Corner and it then gets to the stage of not quite knowing who needs the most help or support,I hope things do improve all round,whilst the friend just undergoing surgery has this wait for results, always such a stressful time.

The rope bridge does nothing for me and my increasing fear of heights! Does not seem to phase young Flynn though.....what a young man.He may well grow up to be a stuntman!

It was a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday with a cool breeze, today looks set to be a scorcher so I'm disappointed to find myself wide awake at 6am !!! Not on at all !

I have to say we get quite excited Panache at noisy farm machinery :-) We watched intrigued as he cut down the field and despite a fine layer of dust covering everyone including Sam we cant wait for the bailer !

Chaos the best naps are those where you wake naturally so if you overslept a bit that's fine . I am a BIG fan of afternoon naps :-)

A pool party would be an excellent idea! The nasty niff has passed down so you are all welcome. I even purchased some pool toys yesterday for the little boys impending visit and so we have some inflatables!

We also have a game which involves catching odd shaped 'poos' with a fishing rod ( you know how little boys love a good poo joke!!).

Hello the kitchen. Just enjoying my morning coffee so I thought I would look in. No view this morning. A light mist obscures everything and it is already hot.
N&G when we first moved to the house we have now, we were fascinated by the farming year, ploughing to harvest, and yes, we too loved to watch the baler chucking its neatly packaged hay out the back. And don’t get me started on the combine. What amazes me is that some brilliant person had to invent all these smashing bits of kit in the first place!
Chaos you are not the only one who likes an afternoon nap - I shall make sure I get back in the routine when we get home! No chance here - it is my GS who doesn’t understand the concept of siesta. He is like a human dynamo. And yes, it was hardly the Avon Gorge the rope bridge was spanning, but it was certainly high enough for me!! I don’t do heights either, but The Boy can persuade me into doing any foolish thing you care to mention!
Panache DH and I have come to the conclusion that there are more interesting things to find on Welsh beaches than Cornish ones (they don’t seem to have shells here) but the rock pools here are wonderful. We were in a little cove yesterday and I sat on a rock in the middle of a huge pool, watching shoals of tiny tiny fish, almost transparent shrimps, sea urchins, and fish that camouflaged themselves perfectly against the sand. Then suddenly, it was full of small children and the peace was shattered ?!
Soop I can envisage you perfectly in one of the lovely little shops in Fowey. I’m sure you’d certainly be able to charm me into parting with my holiday money!
DH managed, during some bit of energetic nonsense yesterday, to sprain his ring finger, which is quite swollen, so we are applying ice and hoping it will reduce otherwise we may have to get his wedding ring cut off as it is now really tight. Hey ho. We will see what today brings. Tonight we are barbecuing the mackerel that we caught on Thursday. I think I am the only one who is looking forward to eating it!
I will look in later if and when we retreat from the heat!

I hope you froze that mackerel Greyduster you have me worried now, don't want you all poisoned.
I had a dreadful day yesterday, eternally optimistic I am hoping for better today.

`Morning to you all from a rather pleasant sunny west coast,just the sort that could and even might tempt me to have a stroll on our beach.
My dear man has hurt his arthritic back with trimming all those tall hedges, so I have been keeping him quiet all week.......so I am dithering somewhat about this walk as I do so want to see him less bent over and in less pain.

I would hazard a guess and say that in the main the Cornish coast and ours here are rather similar Greyd......you win in some areas and loose in others, but I am certain not a lot of those choice areas will go unexplored by your good self during this break!!!
Poor Mr GreyD...........not very nice at all.....could he have been bitten by one of the sea faring creatures found lurking in these rock pools?

I think your joy and delight might be very short lived N & G were you living in that area permanently.......they certainly are pieces of value and cost a bomb...........but so cumbersome,noisy and the drivers do no like them trundling along these narrow coastal routes when they are scurring to catch those rays on our beaches!
I much preffered those olden days when the famers of the area gathered together to see to these annual needs....and far fewer pieces of machinery.

Shall we skip yesterday then Ann.......we all get "those days" in life, though of course I am sure we do not all wear your shoes at this point in time,however wear your optimistiic hat in a jaunty angle,surely today is going to be very much better.

I so wish I could nap a little mid afternoon Chaos......I sleep so poorly and by afternoon am literally on my last legs after doing little.....but I have never managed this "art"

Panache....I have always been a sleeper. Napping is not so much a decision I make, more a case of "the shutters are coming down, you had better lie down quickly".
Its a pain in the neck really, as I often find I sleep well that night (after an afternoon zizz) but then wake ridiculously early the next morning.
Which of course then becomes a vicious circle.

greyd.... I do hope your DH has managed to reduce the swelling. Awful when rings get stuck......I had to have my wedding cut off when I ballooned at the end of one pregnancy - though that is obviously not Mr-gd's problem! lol
GC's do have a magical restorative effect on the adventurous impulses, don't they. I was spotted playing roly-poly up and down the hallway last week And on decorum.

N&G I grew up on farms, learned to drive on a tractor when I was fairly young. I have always had a respect and fascination for farm machinery and the folk operating them, as you've said, not as easy as it looks. No farms visible from our home now but I have been known to stop the car and just watch. How's the pool doing? I now have visions of you floating around on a floating unicorn or some car shaped toy.

Hope Mr Grey's finger is settling, sounds a proper ouchie.

OH dear me! I had intended getting back with you lot a very long time ago. Thing is, excuses galore, I have put the wild cat portrait on hold and have donned my arty-farty hat. A challenge presented itself. I am still sketching three lovely dogs and with ample artistic license, I hope to incorporate all three in one portrait.

As you know, I haven't a tablet or a smart phone. In fact, my cell phone is an antique. This means that when the bewitching hour of 5:00 arrives, I log off and catch up with housework and other stuff. I will return tomorrow morning. The very first thing that I shall do is...read all your messages.

In the meantime, do be kind to yourselves and enjoy a pleasant Sunday evening.

My dialogue will not be quite as long and full as our beach was this afternoon,believe me.... having lived there for several years,including the scorched summer of 1976.....it has never been one quarter this packed out with chocolate bodies, and every paraphenalia possible to take to the beach....... no more the simplicity of our day for sure..........so GreyD let this be a little warning as how even Broad Haven has caught up with Cornwall!
Showing our years we sat on a seat with icecreams surveying, what a grand place to people watch...........they really need to install mirrors here and there.......... as I swear folk do not take a peep at their rears before leaving home!!

Very warm here (East Mids) and of all days, today was my I -must-get-the-garden-sorted day. For himself, it was garage and the tip. Two people ready for an early night!
