M&S always my first port of call if we are having guests and always for us of a week-end with their "Dine In" why spend time in the kitchen when you don't need to.

I can't fault you! I cooked a roast dinner last night (madness, in this heat), but it's been salad with chicken and pasta tonight.

Can always remember reading an article about serving food 'cooked elsewhere' i.e. ready meals to guests. The highbrow journalist felt that it was perfectly acceptable as long as it was decent quality. I think the argument went something like, well you have provided a welcoming environment for your guests, provided food (and drink) entertained them and been glad of their company....they should be jolly happy!

Witzend, thanks for your post. It's helped me decide that M&S will provide the food to feed our adult children and ourselves whilst we watch the match on Thursday. The aim is to exhaust the toddlers with lots of water play in the shady party of the garden during the day bath bed sleep then we eat and watch the match at the same time. I know I know, there's a flaw somewhere (but not in the raiding M&S part of the plan)
