Now that Jeremy Vine seems to take every TV/Radio programme that becomes vacant, are we to expect him to take over from David Dimbleby now that he is leaving Question Time? To my mind he has ruined 'Eggheads' with his inane remarks. I find it hard to believe that he is Tim Vine's brother!

I like Jeremy Vine ?

gillybob Tue 19-Jun-18 09:41:13

I'm glad to hear it Iam64. Can you imagine it?

Iam64 Tue 19-Jun-18 08:52:52

gillybob, I believe you are safe, Chris Evans will not be replacing Mr Dimbleby !

gillybob Tue 19-Jun-18 06:48:00

I can’t bear to listen to Chris Evans either TwiceAsNice he’s another one that likes the sound of his own voice......and brag...... crikey has anyone else got children in the world? I gave up listening to him when he started bringing his kids on air . Desperate to get them into the limelight. He’s not a pushy parent is he?

I don't know how Jeremy Vine has managed to replace Matthew Wright who, although I found him quite overbearing at times, was at least engaging and could never be described as bland.

I think JV is rather insipid and not at all suitable for a live - and often very lively - programme discussing current issues.

I had guessed MW would be leaving because for the last year or so his absences have been much more frequent and there have been several presenters taking over for days or weeks at a time. My own favourites were Anne Diamond, Penny Smith and Matt Barbett. I don't even recall Jeremy Vine doing one of these stints. It's inexplicable how he has got the job.

I am so sorry David Dimbleby is leaving Question Time. I know some people don't like him but I have always thought him to be a good humoured and astute chairperson. I suppose it was to be expected as he is, I think, in his late 70's or early 80's and has been doing the programme for some time.

I like Richard Osman too - a very pleasant and intelligent man. I also like James O'Brien, though he may be thought too abrasive for QT. I think Nicky Campbell is very good too. Why not a woman though? Anita Anand who hosts Any Answers on Radio 4 and has shown herself to be very clear headed, knowledgeable and courteous - at the same time as analysing and sometimes challenging the rationale underlying contributors' opinions - is I think worth considering.

Jeremy Vine, combined with the new format, has completely ruined Crimewatch, bring back Kirsty Young.

I can't stand him, he is the only radio 2 presenter I can't bear to listen too plus as you say he doesn't appear to be very bright. However he manages to earn a lot more money than me!

So how does the ignorant patronising twat get so much work? And we hardly ever see or hear of his brilliantly talented brother? mmmm.

Bellanonna Mon 18-Jun-18 22:32:13

(To Lemon)

Bellanonna Mon 18-Jun-18 22:31:16

Oh sorry, I see that was a question! ?

Jomarie Mon 18-Jun-18 22:21:49

I totally agree with all who said that JV is not up to the job (whatever that job may be),

gillybob Mon 18-Jun-18 22:15:02

Totally agree with you Iam64 I don’t listen to JV any more as he’s far too patronising for my liking. I agree Vanessa Feltz is far better in that slot than he is.

Bellanonna Mon 18-Jun-18 22:10:52

Oh, thanks for that Lemon ?. How reassuring!

Deedaa Mon 18-Jun-18 21:51:04

I could almost put up with his stupid questions and comments on Eggheads if he he didn't try so hard to make it"exciting". Why can't we just have the questions?

OldMeg Mon 18-Jun-18 21:41:54

Richard Osman would have my vote too.

Iam64 Mon 18-Jun-18 21:06:20

Kirsty or Victoria Derbyshire for me.
Not under any circumstances Jeremy Vine. He is extremely rude and insensitive to many of the people who phone his radio 2 mid day programme. He's also not bright enough imo to chair Question Time. His attempts to encourage polarised discussions between callers to the JV show are an embarrassment and even worse, I don't believe he cares.
I was never a fan of Venessa Feltz but when she covers the JV show, it's a much more interesting and enjoyable listen. She is good at getting the best out of people and unlike JV, doesn't patronise or humiliate callers.

petra Mon 18-Jun-18 20:52:36

Ooh yes, jalima Richard Osman, lovely man. I think you've cracked it grin

maryeliza54 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:51:12

I worked for 10 years with Jeremy Vine’s dad. But I never met Jeremy. I don’t think Guy is on GN.

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:38:29

What about Richard Osman?

At least he would have all the answers, and, quite honestly, sometimes the programme seems pointless.

LadyGracie Mon 18-Jun-18 14:38:59

It would be refreshing if they could find a person who is totally unbiased, or who could come across that way. No one mentioned so far appeals to me. I agree Jeremy Vine has ruined Eggheads, with his non stop drivel!

lemongrove Mon 18-Jun-18 14:25:55

Corbyn is taking over from Wright Bella ? ??

Bellanonna Mon 18-Jun-18 14:24:22

Oh no, I’ve just seen he’s taking over from Matthew Wright. Bad news. Please, not Jeremy Paxman for QT. Too aggressive.

lemongrove Mon 18-Jun-18 14:14:11

My vote would be for Victoria Derbyshire.
I may even start watching the programme again.

lemongrove Mon 18-Jun-18 14:12:59

As long as it’s not Jeremy Corbyn! grin

Parsley3 Mon 18-Jun-18 14:10:29

My vote is for Kirsty Wark. Andrew Neil anyone?
