You know what? I think between us our footie mad grandsons could put a cracking team together for 2030 ! We could run a Gransnet trip to wherever it is being held.

Yes, well done that young team and their excellent manager. It's been a great ride, I've enjoyed all of it. Our team seemed to lose confidence during the 2nd half. The ref wasn't the best I've seen in the tournament. The Croation side are more experienced and have some Premier league players so no shame for our team.
I've enjoyed the carnival atmosphere. Cairian Trippier grew up a couple of miles away and we had tv/radio at his primary and high schools interviewing staff and pupils yesterday. It was such a positive break from endless negativity in our political landscape. Garteth to sort out Brexit perhaps, with use of mindfulness, yoga and a political psychologist, or even the sports psychologist he worked so well with in the build up to this tournament.

My football-mad GS will be 13 next month, so in 8 years, he should be reaching top form. He's fast on his feet - useful winger.

The whole team, manager, players et al did us proud. Thank you Gareth and Co.

I was impressed to see Gareth hugging/comforting all his team and getting them to stand up and applaud the winners. Great to see such gentlemanly behaviour.

Can’t believe the posts saying they’re glad it over . What spoil sports. Why? We have a brilliant team of young, good, clean footballers who deserved to go all the way . Feeling a bit gutted for them today but as Danni said they will still come home heroes .

They now have to play for 3rd place which must be miserable . Still 3rd or even 4th in the world is a massive achievement! Well done England ???????

Like others, I’m not a regular football fan but I’ve found this tournament has attracted me to watch. Despite the disappointing outcome, I felt proud of our team for their tolerance over the referee's inconsistency. They were gallant players and gracious in defeat. Being a young team, they have a bright future.

To me the England team will come home football heroes. For all the excitement and pleasure they have given people - especially all the Gransnet England fans (and my family).
So Well Done to all of the England Team and a BIG Thank You!!!!

I think the Croatians were pretty horrendous in some of their tackles and seemed to get away with it So i ll support France
I d have liked to see the trophy ‘come home’ but there you go wishful thinking and we ve done well with some dignity

Yes, the young English team and Gareth Southgate should be very proud of themselves for reaching the last four. Now they will have to play Belgium again.

My grandson will be disappointed, but thank heaven the level of hysteria will lessen. I’m relieved. It was getting so silly. I wonder if all those grown men who made such a fuss are feeling a bit silly now? Probably not.

It’s only a game. It doesn’t matter who wins. Think of all those happy Croatians.

I was sorry they didn’t win, but must admit to being secretly relieved I don’t have to listen to that song again anytime soon.

I think the England team can be very proud - and what a great example set by their manager.
I shall be torn regarding the winning team in the final; The Wonderful Man drew Croatia in the office sweepstake, but I have a grandson who is half French.

Another recruit for your team Gilly. My GS was 8 today - he was born 11th July 2010 which was the World Cup Final Night, so his dad (amd mum) missed that final.

He’s just declared he’ll be playing in 12 years time too!

as gillybob says - they will be 3rd or 4th and that's out of a total of 210 teams varian.

I will probably support France ( our nearest neighbours ) too .

Football - it’s a game of two halves ?. Great team, great manager, great supporters. I’m supporting France on Sunday but right now, I’m exhausted, feel like I’ve played a full game
