The world cup

I have no interest at all in football but other half is a fanatic.However,our local area has turned it into a huge community spirit exercise. Last week a local man paid for England flags to be flown on all the lamposts here along a main road. The next day some lowlife came and cut them all down--it's been caught on CCTV. Our area Facebook page appealed for more flags and were inundated with them plus,it's resulted in road after road flying them.Lovely to see everyone showing community spirit and would be wonderful if it continues when the World Cup is over

Well done England. I shouted so loudly when we scored our first goal my 6 year old granddaughter burst into tears, she's such a sensitive soul !!! I was a little more muted for the second.
I think Gareth Southgate has done a brilliant job, long may it continue.

Had we all remembered the Sam Allardyce scandal?

On a personal level, meanwhile, Southgate comes across as pleasant, thoughtful, humble and well-mannered. A thoroughly decent man. Everyone loves him.
Less than two years ago, however, the England boss was Sam Allardyce: a gruff, no-nonsense manager of the old school, whose club sides typically rely on defensive caution, physical aggression and knocking long balls up to the big man up front. We are staying in a pub near Letchworth that has a huge screen and marquee so can hear everyone enjoying the game.
I do hope that England win and lots of my relatives, also here, are having a great time. I don’t begrudge anyone their enjoyment it I’m happy in my air conditioning sipping a G&T. ??????????????????
