Those royals wasting money again

Sorry to those royal worshipers but Eddie has apparently just paid (well technically he paid nothing) £37,000 to fly 130 mile in a private jet from Poole to Tamworth when the train would have cost a mere fraction (first class of course) .

I know his time is more precious than most other people’s time, okay so he’s got a wife and family to get home to and an elderly mum needing his care...... but really ?

Anniebach Sun 17-Jun-18 10:45:18

HM means another key to press, I will stick with queenie ?

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Jun-18 10:44:51

I don't have this predictive text so any spelling mistakes are entirely my own!

gillybob Sun 17-Jun-18 10:42:27

My preferred option of her maj . Keeps getting changed to her man so it takes a while .

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Jun-18 10:19:08

HM is even faster to type grin

Anniebach Sun 17-Jun-18 09:04:50

Queenie is a little faster to type than The Queen ?

gillybob Sat 16-Jun-18 23:37:22

I think I’m the evil stepmother on this thread mapleleaf Exactly as Annie said calling her maj “queenie “ is in no way unkind.

Mapleleaf Sat 16-Jun-18 22:24:15

I'm keeping neutral on the many comments, Anniebach, in case I get shot down in flames! ???

Anniebach Sat 16-Jun-18 22:17:16

No not wondering Maple Leaf, amused why you found queenie unkind compared to what has been said about her on this thread

Mapleleaf Sat 16-Jun-18 22:14:42

"not just in this thread" rather than "not always in this thread".
Not singling you out, "Anniebach* - I've seen The Queen referred to as "queenie" many times in lots of threads. I dislike it, that's all.

Mapleleaf Sat 16-Jun-18 22:09:31

No Anniebach, I'm sure others have said it too, not always in this thread. I just dislike it, that's all, as you are wondering.

I do wish some posters actually understood how & what the Royal Family ( apart from hand waving etc etc) do & are responsible for. I don’t really care what you think of them but at ,least take the trouble to check out facts before pouring scorn on a system that is part & parcel of this country.
If they didn’t exist, there would still be poverty, inequality etc.there are so many factions at play as to why there is so much inequality through out the world, removing Queenie & her family from the equation would alter nothing, ( except alot people would be out of work) at least do contribute in many ways,if anyone who is not in favour of them would care to take the trouble to find out. Either way our own lives will be just the same. We on here all have computers, some people still don’t have clean water to drink ,so taking the high moral ground seems a tad hypocritical .

I too loved Blackadder Gilly. ?

gillybob Sat 16-Jun-18 08:50:48

I thought it was from Blackadder (which I love) Mapleleaf and don’t find it offensive in the slightest.

Anniebach Sat 16-Jun-18 08:46:09

Mapleleaf, I say queenie can’t recall others doing so.

All that has been said about the queen in this thread yet you find ‘queenie’ unkind.

I wonder why

annep Sat 16-Jun-18 03:38:29

gillybob and paddyann So with you on this!

merlotgran Fri 15-Jun-18 23:30:27

I agree, Mapleleaf and have said so many times.

She deserves more respect.

gillybob Fri 15-Jun-18 23:06:28

Should be “sadly I am not” ......

Mapleleaf Fri 15-Jun-18 23:03:47

I do wish you GN's who refer to the Queen as " queenie", wouldn't. I don't think any of you are saying it in an affectionate way, but correct me if I'm wrong. To me, it just sounds unkind. I'm neither royalist or anti royalist, either, by the way.

gillybob Fri 15-Jun-18 22:45:40

Because unlike me and mine they have the ultimate privilege of being given money from the public purse that they do not earn. . They choose how much tax they are willing to pay . Why does her maj invest her money in dodgy off shore financial deals if not to accumulate more for her already overflowing pockets ?

We should all consider those who are poorer and less unfortunate than ourselves. Sadly I am but in the position of doing much but I do try my best.

Anniebach Fri 15-Jun-18 22:32:04

Why should they? Why should you or any of us, you seem sure this family have no compassion and are greedy for more money .

gillybob Fri 15-Jun-18 22:25:57

Why ridiculous Jalima ? A perfectly good question ? A wondering ?

I agree paddyann I doubt her maj or her family would lose any sleep over the food banks , the homeless or the poverty in the UK . Why should they ? Does it even really exist ?

paddyann Fri 15-Jun-18 22:17:12

Of course she neither knows or cares about folk struggling ,she's only interested in the cash that keeps the coffers topped up so her ever increasing brood can be kept in the livestyle WE'VE been paying for for centuries .
And no I'm NOT jealous,I've never been jealous of anyone in my life.
I just believe its a medieval concept unfit for the 21st century .It SHOULD die when Lizzie does ,sadly the mainly English public like having someone who they think is their superior so no doubt it'll keep on keeping on until all the generations in waiting have had their share of joe publics money so another 100 years of unjust privilege for them ...at least.

Jalima1108 Fri 15-Jun-18 20:51:05

I wonder if the queen ever stops to think that those people waving flags and curtsying at her feet might be struggling to make ends meet? I shouldn’t imagine she does. Why would she ? Do the royals have a conscience ?
sorry, but that is just ridiculour gillybob

Jalima1108 Fri 15-Jun-18 20:49:07

Also I agree the family should be slimmed down -there are far too many.
Are you suggesting a 'cull'? pollyperkins?
We're not funding everyone who was on the balcony.

That balcony does worry me somewhat, it seems very low and presumably it is checked for weight limits from time to time .....
