Suffragettes with Lucy Worley

Oops find her quite odd/annoying!

I've recorded it but not seen it yet. I like Lucy Worsely. She makes history interesting. I enjoyed her Russian series

A subject I have always been very interested in all my life, saw the film Suffragette a while back and found it very good.
More than enjoyed the Lucy Worsley programme, she made a very good job of it plus I learned a couple of things I’d not know before. Find her a very good presenter and an endearing and enjoyable person to listen to.

Sorry, I’m with farview We all have our own likes and dislikes as far as presenters go. I’m very happy that you who like her had an interesting time, but I’m also glad I have an off switch.

Lucy W was at a local literary festival and she is very funny. She could give a standup comic a run for their money. I found the programme very interesting. I didn't know about the breadth of violence generated,on both sides, arson and force feeding. And somehow all pointless as what really changed things was the Great War, war to end all wars. Which it didn't but gave women the vote. And now what have we got. Men who want to be in women's spaces. And are getting their way. Sorry, been on Mumsnet last night and appalled at self ID. And another irritation is cameramen who are always training their camera on a back view of historian and concentrating on their lower half or high heels or boots.
I'll go and take my pills now.

I expected this programme to be quite light as LW’s programmes usually are, but thought I’d give it a try. It was much better and more serious than I expected. Quite shocking in places. The attitudes of many men were appalling. It is easy to forget the huge power over women that men used to have. Things are much better now, even if not perfect.

Thank you for all this interesting feedback. Sadly, 100 years on there is still a 'glass ceiling' in the work place which only seems to be, at times, penetrable by men still.

This is a little bit off the subject but made me smile. My husband brought me lots of photos from the Suffragettes march in Belfast on Saturday as I am not well at the moment . Then yesterday he wouldnt hang the washing out until the man fixing the boiler had left. Progress indeed. lol. Must watch the programme I do like LW.
