How much has your life mirrored your siblings ..or hasn't it at all.For instance,My 3 sisters were born on a Sunday ,I was born on a Monday,I'm the only one who has a middle name ,
They were all baptised by one priest I had a different priest at my christening
.I was the only one who left school at 15 and the only one who had my own businesses
,I married a man with the initial G ,they all married men whose names started with A,
They all got married on Saturdays I got married on a Monday... and loads more as the years have passed .Does your life mirror your siblings or like me has it been very different .

(15 Posts)I have two sisters. They were both born on Friday, I was born on a Tuesday. One of them went to Grammar school, two of us to the Secondary modern. Funnily enough we all worked in different areas of care. I was a mental health nurse, one sister was a learning disabilities nurse and the other was a house mother in a children's home, for children with additional needs. They both married on a Saturday, I got married on a Thursday! Our respective husbands had very different interests. My DH loves gardening, sister 1 DH loves trains, sister 2 DH DIY. My sisters always said that I got to go to the best place, the garden centre, whereas they had to go to a railway station or a DIY store!
Life is funny.??
My life has been very different from my brother. I am 6 years older, I married at 18 and divorced at 26, he married at 22 and is still married 37 years later. He still lives within 10 mile of where we were born and has only had 2 houses since marrying, I have lived in 22 different houses including Spain and now I live 300 mile from my hometown.
I have had many jobs in lots of different fields including Adult Education, he has only ever worked at one company since leaving school.
So yes I would say we were very different!
We four are very different the eldest was a chef, I was a nurse, the next is still an accountant and the youngest a drug addict now recovered and now a rehab worker. Apart from the youngest who took himself far away from us all probably as we all are bound to be the root of his troubles we get on well and have the same sense of humour but no other similarities or things in common.
My brother went to grammar school and on to Art college. He is a qualified hot press compositor, and has been sucsessful in more than one career. He divorced many years ago when his two sons were young. He has lived in various places in the UK and also in SA for 4 yrs. He is intelligent, articulate, confident, he likes the sound of his own voice and certainly not what you would describe as a a party goer.
I went to secondary school and left at 15 to work in an office and have had a few different jobs including being a vet's assistant for 10 yrs. I have been married 42 yrs. I don't consider myself intelligent though certainly not a dunce. I am not a serious type and I love a good night out with lots of laughs.
I only have one younger sister and I would say we are like chalk and cheese . Nothing whatsoever in common. We don’t look alike, we don’t share similar views, she lives alone ( never married,no children ) and her time is her own .
We all went to University; I (eldest) did an English degree; first sister did Medicine and second sister Economics. We have two offspring each: two of us have each two sons; the other one of each. I have five GC and so does first sister; youngest has two GSs. I've had one divorce; first sister has had two and youngest is still married to her original husband. We are of one mind about politics, human rights and the environment but I'm the only one who has had a role in local politics. I've had more jobs, mainly in education, in Scotland, England and East Africa; medic sister is retired GP in NZ and youngest has worked in the NGS. All retired now.
Don't think we mirror each other very much really, though our upbringing and education gave us all similar ideals and aims - and advantages.
NGS? no. I mean NHS
My brother and I are very alike in character and views on things like politics and we both have three DC and have DGC. The differences are that he has been married over 40 years and I have been both divorced and widowed. He and his wife both had good careers. I had less well paid jobs with husbands also earning less, so they have two good pensions and I have one small pension.
I must add that he and his wife have been very good to me since I've been on my own.
Its clear from these posts that being brought up same doesnt mean you'll be the same.
I am so different to my 6 siblings that i sometimes wonder did I have a different father!
Three sisters , I am the eldest and a brother who is the youngest. I am 5’7”, brother 5’11”. Three sisters 5’. I am the only left hander, the four in long happy marriages, I was widowed young. I have nothing in common with my siblings. Much was due to me being brought up by my parents and my fathers Welsh extended family, i was shared , my siblings brought up only by our parents. I was South Wales, siblings were Mid Wales . I was much closer to my cousin in Aberfan, called him my brother-cousin. Named my first born after his mother,my aunt, I adored her. Loved my mother but the bond between my Aunt and I was stronger. The five of us live in the same Mid Wales now but my heart is in South Wales still.
sorry Annie, you talk about our parents and my parents? sort of confused. But you know me Annie....easily confuffled.
Sorry batty, my siblings and I have the same parents, when I speak of us it’s our parents, when I speak of me it’s my parents. That’s what comes of being brought up by two families ?
oh er think Ive grasped it!
I have one lovely sister
I was born in Glasgow my sister 8 years later in Birmingham.
I have children, she has no children.
As child I looked after and help to care for my little sister.
In adulthood the role was reversed and my sister help and supported me.
We look completely different
I burn in the sun,my sister always has lovely tan.
She is a chef - I hate cooking.
I like a quite life, my sister always has several projects in the go and is blessed with
Self Belief.
However we have strong bond and usually have the same train of thought.
We often send the same birthday card or give similar presents.?
